If this song was released today, it would be HUGE amongstbthe math rockers and indie listeners. Finch was so much further ahead than their peers at the time and were crucified for it by their original fans
Well said. I didn’t care a sniff for the first album but this one was unreal, proper Glassjaw sounds. Opinion is opinion ultimately but I much preferred their later stuff.
I wish more people out there would have gave this album a chance. Truly a masterpiece. Definitely way ahead of it's time and such a refreshing change to all the "screamo pop punk" that was coming out at the time. To this day can still listen all the way through and never get bored with it.
I dont know how i didnt get into these guys back in the day.i was into and still am AFI the Used,th THREE CHEERS MCR record, Earshot, Chevelle,etc..these guys were right up my alley..
No one knows the songs off "Say Hello to Sunshine". xD I had no idea how true this was until Warped Tour yesterday. I keep bitching about it because I was so saddened that the crowd didn't know the songs OR respond to them. I was up near the front, worried I'd be squashed, when I ended up being the most energetic.
Experimental666 Damn I didn't expect they'd play anything off the record so I didn't even bother since I hate most of the stuff at warped anyways. They play Miro? Probably my favorite song off the record.
***** Mine too! Though I'm not sure they played Miro...I feel like they did. I couldn't quite pin their first song. I knew the lyrics, but I didn't know the title. xD They also played Insomniatic Meat, Ink, What it is to Burn, and two songs off their upcoming album. I think one was called like...Picasso or....something like that. Sounded really awesome, nonetheless! I'm really excited!
Im right there with you, their first cd came out when I was a freshman in high school. It was so awesome at the time b/c the girl I had a crush on listened to them too.
This is one of my favorite songs ever! really wish Finch would be a more stable band. I am thankful for all their discography. Say Hello to Sunshine was so ahead of its time.. love how Nate channels Mike Patton as well. Angel Dust 1992... another album so far ahead of its time!
“Meier may we be this way forever And tell me, lover, what will become of the others?” Bones, skin, nails and flesh On a bed of “lack of passion”, a medieval consequence They worry you with all the talk of how you're not their kind Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home There is always one more fall Maladjusted you must trust me, darling Subsequently, you see, you deserve more than me They bury you while wearing garments of funeral fire Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home There is always one more fall Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home There is always one more fall This will hurt you It's killing me (This is the salt in my side, this is the thorn in my eye) This will hurt you And I will, too And I will Bloodlust, bloodlust - for this girl Bloodloss, bloodloss - for this boy Bloodlust, bloodlust - for this girl Bloodloss, bloodloss - for this boy This boy Another puncture wound, and once again, forgive my sins Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home There is always one more fall Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home There is always one more fall
Yep. This is the direction I wish the post hardcore scene would have headed. Instead, it kind of morphed into this pseudo-metalcore thing it is now. It is terribly saddening.
This song got me into a band as a singer I went nuts everytime I covered it. Brings back such memories. They were a heavy HEAVY metal project but this song is kinda eerie and It worked. Such a good song. hell the whole album was great
I was 10 when I saw this air on MTV and I've loved this band ever since. I never thought they got enough credit. I thought I'd missed out on ever being able to see them live, but now I'll be getting to see them play on the what it is to burn 20th anniversary tour and I'm so fucking stoked I can't believe it
Finch established 1999. one of my favorite bands growing up. check the date before suggesting your mainstream bands now, did it first or even try to compare them to anyone now lol this is old school, all band's go through different sounds, sing about what's relevant at the time for them as a group, the genre was/has been reinvented so many times.
Still sounds good just like day one, yet it's about to be 2016 and still sounds the part , work of art ahead of its time and in today's age proves why. What a work of art
"Say hello to sunshine" is such a great album. They took all of my favourite elements of Faith no more, Deftones and Post hardcore and mixed them up. These guys had real promise.
Shame they didnt keep faith in themselves when their audience couldn't adjust to their evolution. This album was such leaps and bounds ahead of the competition in terms of complexity and musicality, I would love to see a finch that continued in this vein a few more albums deep.
This album is a forgotten gem. I still have no idea why the band it didn't get the attention it deserved with this one? Granted, it was a huge departure from What It Is To Burn, but it's still a masterpiece for me.
I dunno why people dont like this album. I like it better than WIITB. It is one of my top albums of all time. So gritty and raw with better song writing. Can wait for Back to Oblivion! I'm feeling like it will be a mix between WIITB and SHTS.
I liked SHTS when it came out. still do. but to me, it's not as good as WIITB. and no, not because that was their first record and my introduction to them. a lot of people choose favorite albums based on nostalgia only. I just go with songwriting. sure, SHTS has more intricate guitar work and more complex structures and polyrhythmic riffs, but I just don't find the songs quite as catchy and memorable as WIITB. to me, WIITB is a 9/10, SHTS is a 7/10.
Haven't heard this song in at least 10 years. Pretty good. Damn video looks like a dramatic recreation on a forensic files episode. Just missing Sir Peter Thomas narrorating the events.
"Say hello to sunshine" is such a great album, they kept much of their original post-hardcore sound but injected it with Faith No More and Deftones influences. It's so much more varied and heavier than the first album and the vocals and lyrics are excellent. I don't get it when people say they prefer the first cd.
I genuinely think that if this was their first record and they never put out What It Is To Burn then they would've become a beloved cult band. That first record ended up being a curse for them even as much as people loved it. But they got so much fucking better after.
1st album was awesome dude. Put them on the map. It had power but had a positive fun energy. Started getting darker after and I'm not sure if it was received as well by their core audience. Personally I liked all their music
If this song was released today, it would be HUGE amongstbthe math rockers and indie listeners. Finch was so much further ahead than their peers at the time and were crucified for it by their original fans
This is a jam 🤘 but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🐺🔥🤘🎸🎧
Glad they are still making music but I disagree
they were crucified by HIM fans when they toured with that band back in 2005, one of their biggest mistakes to this date
Well said. I didn’t care a sniff for the first album but this one was unreal, proper Glassjaw sounds. Opinion is opinion ultimately but I much preferred their later stuff.
@@reddiusmiro could you elaborate?
2022 and STILL listening to Finch. Middle school memories! 🖤
I love them forever 🖤 my first time I fell in love with guitars. Their first album
This record is and has always been overlooked. I've listened to a lot more than Finch since this, but they had something special here.
This is a jam 🤘 but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🐺🔥🤘🎸🎧
Early 30's?
This album was years ahead of it's time.
and 10 years later it still feels that way
@@Lu_Cidtrip finch 👏
No it wasn’t music just sucks now
15 years later, and this song still slaps.
Nate kills it vocally and the whole vibe for this album, like Edgar Allen Poe on mushrooms, fantastic
I wish more people out there would have gave this album a chance. Truly a masterpiece. Definitely way ahead of it's time and such a refreshing change to all the "screamo pop punk" that was coming out at the time. To this day can still listen all the way through and never get bored with it.
For sure

I belt out in the car to this album almost daily now, I never get tired of it. It's a fucking fantastic album front to back
@@TooMuchSascha agreed..way underappreciated
This Album was super unique and pioneering in their sound journey.
God I miss the old Fuse days :(
Their best album. A timeless piece of work, too bad most people didn't "get" it.
Kyle Bichler hahahaha 'get it' amazing...so true
+Kyle Bichler Most people were shocked by the huge musical style change between the two albums.
+Kyle Bichler true
+Kyle Bichler sad but true
It was a departure. To me it stands by itself as a great work of music.
I'm listening to this song again in 2023, it's a great song.
This album deserved more; it's just so refined, one hell of a tracklist.
"Say Hello To Sunshine" - Best Post-Hardcore record of all time!
I remember watching this on Fuse TV when I was a kid, and getting obsessed with this song. I cherished every time it played on Fuse.
Judging by the low number of views no one knows about this song, which is a shame because it's an amazing song and deserved more attention.

I listen to this song everyday back then
Experimental666 - Sadly this never happened
I will always remember Finch for great songs and teen memories :-)
Im right there with you, their first cd came out when I was a freshman in high school. It was so awesome at the time b/c the girl I had a crush on listened to them too.

“Meier may we be this way forever
And tell me, lover, what will become of the others?”
Bones, skin, nails and flesh
On a bed of “lack of passion”, a medieval consequence
They worry you with all the talk of how you're not their kind
Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home
There is always one more fall
Maladjusted you must trust me, darling
Subsequently, you see, you deserve more than me
They bury you while wearing garments of funeral fire
Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home
There is always one more fall
Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home
There is always one more fall
This will hurt you
It's killing me
(This is the salt in my side, this is the thorn in my eye)
This will hurt you
And I will, too
And I will
Bloodlust, bloodlust - for this girl
Bloodloss, bloodloss - for this boy
Bloodlust, bloodlust - for this girl
Bloodloss, bloodloss - for this boy
This boy
Another puncture wound, and once again, forgive my sins
Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home
There is always one more fall
Now I'm stealing her body and taking it home
There is always one more fall
This song is timeless no matter how many times I hear it, It is always incredible.
Finch needs a comeback.
Random this song came to me via my ear worm singing me old skool post-hardcore classics. Miss Finch, SHTS was the best album. Period.
Yep. This is the direction I wish the post hardcore scene would have headed. Instead, it kind of morphed into this pseudo-metalcore thing it is now. It is terribly saddening.
Nothing like Reminiscing on some great music. Come back to me!
This song got me into a band as a singer I went nuts everytime I covered it. Brings back such memories. They were a heavy HEAVY metal project but this song is kinda eerie and It worked. Such a good song. hell the whole album was great
say hello to sunshine is an absolute masterpiece.
The world needs Finch and Nate back!!
I can't even what this whole album means to me. 15 years I've had this album in my pocket
both albums truely helped me in the worst of times back then. loved every song this band put out. cant believe that they never made more than two....
2018 and its still a banger 🔥

This was one of my favorite songs while exploring my newly discovered love for rock music in 04
I remember this was the first song I'd heard in 4 months (basic training). Totally and unknowingly worth it. Solid tune. Even better album.
Still sounds good just like day one, yet it's about to be 2016 and still sounds the part , work of art ahead of its time and in today's age proves why. What a work of art
This is my favorite song of all time. Still loving it all this time later.
Beautiful song.

I love the guitar work on this song.
How can such an incredible band just dissapear? It is a tragedy to see them go, an amazing band. Both of there CD's were incredible.

Way ahead of its time the whole album
Finch in 2022 baby
Also the opening guitar gives me some many perfect circle vibes along with underworld soundtrack feel
Agreed
that drum beat its so hard ¬¬
Can't believe how long it's been. This video never really did it justice but few albums have the depth of flavor in their sound that this one did.
I hated this song when it first came out. Over a decade later it's always on my playlist!!!
I didn't know Finch was back! I'M CLOSE TO TEARS. ;W; I may get a chance to see these guys, after all!

My favorite Finch song. It hits.
