This tailer gave me hope, But the people in charge of guy Gardners costume gave me names to but on my list. On a separate note I now know what to do with all my left-over coal this Christmas.
My only argument against your take on this is that Supes is only buff in certain iterations. Honestly, I always gravitated towards the idea that he WASN'T jacked and really muscular. Think about it, even a clumsy manner and stooping a bit isn't going to hide a wall of muscle. Plus, his strength comes from the sun; he can't really push his muscles to the limit very easily, so how would he build that much muscle? Just a thought. Maybe they're going for a look a bit more like Reeves in the 70's.
I didn't really have Idea of who to fan cast as lex but honestly I think that they have done pretty well on his looks and aura from what the trailer shows. I also like the fact that it's a bald headed lex with no facial hair unlike a few of the previous ones in recent years. But I'm curious about what you would think about the guy who did the VA for sonic talking in an interview about wanting to play plastic man in DC
That's a fair critique. I think maybe a reason the suit doesn't show much muscle is also because of how David and James talked about how Superman is portrayed, how he doesn't want to come off as scary in any way to children, basically trying to make himself look like a wrestler. Hell, he even convinced Gunn to add in the red underwear for the suit because that adds to it. But I could be wrong. Either way, that's a fair criticism and honestly the most rational one I've seen going across the Internet right now.
Also Mr terrific looks like he’s gonna kill someone in cold blood, and the daily planet globe is cool. Not sure about a veryyyy small amount of the cinematography, i’m sure that part will be better in seven months.
I did not realize that he was 6'4, the suit does make him look smaller. But other than that he looks fantastic the clips of him as Clark Kent compared to him as Superman it feels like two different people, David is done a fantastic job. I am beyond excited for this film, I just don't think Ultraman should be there they're probably not doing or three Ultraman. And if the rumors online are true that it's a clone of Superman and I think it might be too early to introduce a clone. But July cannot get here soon enough.
@LampLeg I think James Gunn will bring heart to the movie, he did it with peacemaker and surprisingly well made me feel for him. I am hoping very much that no executives at Warner Brothers don't try force him and to doing a crisis storyline before it's time, what the world building happen for a few years I have a few elseworld stories, and then one day crisis on infinite Earth will happen and we can see Henry Cavill, David, Tyler, maybe Tom Welling all together for a crisis and Brandon Routh.
I love the fact that he is so bloody in the trailer. So many depictions of Superman have him seem utterly bloodless and that makes him seem inhuman. In Superman v Batman doomsday stabs him through his freaking heart and he doesn’t seem to have a drop of blood. Batman asks if he bleeds and apparently in that universe he doesn’t have blood. Having Superman bleed means he is mortal and just a guy with super strength, not a god. So yes to bloody Superman.
I can see your point regarding the suit. On another note would you ever consider doing a Superman fan film series like your Batman: Owl’s Hollow series?
A part of the trailer that wasn’t really talked about is the little boy putting up a Superman flag, I have no idea but I love that idea, like how it’s a way that people in areas that don’t have technology can reach Superman like maybe he can see it using his super vision or perhaps it’s made out of a certain material that is triggers his enhanced hearing or something
I like how he looks skinny he looks like Clark when he was superboy before Superman in some comics that makes scene for a first movie even if it's not an origin film.

I get where you’re coming from on this, my thought process is Superman is not as intimidating as other characters in comics but does have it in him to end the fight.

I'll agree he does look small in the suite and it can do some work to give him that buff look, but at the same time I still have hopes that the movie will still give us the Supeman that Snyder didn't give us for years. The camera angles could be another reason he looks small, a lot of the shots are angled down or straight on when it's better to do bottom up to make someone look tall
You gotta remember. James Gunn has a sort of "fetish" for leather. I mean, we all remember Guardians of the Galaxy, right? Almost PURE leather. That's essentially what this Superman suit is pretty much made of. But I think James is so far hitting the right notes, so to speak.

I think, looking at the overall design off the suit, he’s going for a visual reference to the Christopher Reeves movies. Especially since he’s being back that Superman theme.
Only good part was Krypto. Lex = Agent 46 John Kent = Poster child for cancer treatment Guy gardner = The Beattle's want their hair cut back Hawk Girl = Looks like Hawk Girl Superman = Yamcha Krypto = The Real hero of the movie
It really reminds me of the old 1950s and the Fleischer Superman cartoons. Could be a homage, and could be replaced because it's just not up to the later battles.
Also considering the fact that when your shorter with the same level of muscle in weight you tend to look a lot more built (I say shorter only in comparison to the actor who is 6’4”) it’s not just the shading your just an absolute unit

I think they do it on purpose. They make him look taller as Clark. He looks like a giant when he is Clark. Superman, he looks around 5'8. Gun is great at subverting expectations and twisting things to see it from a new light. The trop has always been that when superman is clark he shrinks himself, makes himself look weak and timid so it's easier for him to fit in, and harder to connect the dots that he is superman. The interpretation I take from it, whether it's accidental or not is that when he is clark, he can stand up tall, because that's who he is, his real identity, he is proud of himself and his work as a journalist. He doesn't need to hide or shrink himself physically or metaphorically. Superman is not him, it is a mask he wears that he is not always proud of. Most importantly, his powers are already larger than life. In order to not scare people, to not look like another threat in a world full of monsters and other aliens, he has to shrink himself. Both metaphorically and physically. He makes himself look smaller, more human so he feels safer and more relatable to the public. Plus his enemies will under estimate him and think he is weaker than he is due to his smaller stature. Also if everyone thinks superman, after seeing him is like 5'5 - 5'8 no one is going to suspect that this very tall gangly nerd is superman, when superman is a small muscular powerhouse.
