Jazz pianist, three-time Grammy winner, and NEA Jazz Master Ramsey Lewis, who successfully crossed over from the Jazz charts to the Pop charts, most notably with his smash hit “The In Crowd,” died peacefully at his home in Chicago on the morning of September 12, 2022. He was 87.
I'm 75 now but this sure takes me back to the mid 60's. Ramsey Lewis knew how to rock. I saw him in concert with a guy I only dated 2 times but he was a huge Ramsey Lewis fan so he took me to see him at the Opera House in Chicago. What a fabulous treat! And watching him in this video, brought it all back.
I came here from Wade In The Water. Also an incredibly fresh sound after so many years! The recordings of Ramsey Lewis from the 60s didn't collect any dust, unlike me (born 1966) 🙂
THE RAMSEY LEWIS TRIO's "HANG ON SLOOPY" A Cover of The McCOYS No. 1 Hit and now Hits No. 11 for 6 Weeks on 11/27/1965 on CADET RECORDS (as Formerly ARGO for CHESS.)

Saw him at the Greek theatre in LA
Is that Maurice White on drums?
Yeup
that does not look like Maurice White
Maurice joined the group in June 1966 so it hard to see in this video but it could be him.
Issac "Red" Holt. Once Holt left the trio, White joined.
Great song - but the dancing doesn't go with it. Lol
Why not? That song is energetic af
@@TrainFlood I grew up in the 60's, this is jazz not white go-go dancing music. It cheapened the song. It's cheesy.
