I really appreciate that Aaron can be comfortable in saying that although a fragrance is "amazing" and "excellent", etc, while also saying "it's not to "my taste" and "I dont like" while also talking about it's "pros" is refreshing.
Most YT reviewers either love every single fragrance they smell, or they bash ones based on their own personal likes and dislikes, regardless of the quality and craft involved.

This is a fragrance that given how people describe it, I didn't think I'd like it. But there is something about it that I find alluring. Also compared to many other citrus fragrances I feel like this maintains the fruity citrus notes for a lot longer.

I just love how even when you don't like a fragrance, you can appreciate the art for for what it is and still give the perfect scenario where it would be worn.
Terre d'Hermes is a regular staple in my work rotation and always will be. Easily among my top designer choices and frequently brings positive feedback. Jean Claude Ellena is just brilliant at putting together these airy type scents that have a little twist in them even though they're quite safe.

Terre D'Hermes is a legit masterpiece for what it is. It's been a decade since I've worn it routinely, but even with a niche collection now, it's just undeniably nice. That cigarette aspect you mention, I'd explain as "flinty" & really love it... Kinda "its thing" with this one, IMO. Especially considering it's a 2006 release, I have mad respect for this one as a still-great, modern, pre-Tom Ford banger for men. Its flankers are also surprisingly worthwhile fwiw.

As with all of Ellena’s work, this is a modern reinterpretation of Edmond Roudnitska’s classic creations for Hermès, Rochas, and Dior. I would be curious to see Mr. Hughes’ appraisal of the Terre d’Hermès parfum and also of Eau Très Fraîche and Vetiver Intense versions, since I have a completely different take on these.

Like half of the world can't smell ISO E super and Terre d'Hermes contains 45% ISO E super. So, to 50% of strangers you small sharp offensive and UNBEARABLE, because they cannot smell the huge amount of softener that is need to blunt the pungency from the other notes. I'm one of the people are anosmic to ISO E super.

Love this stuff Arron but I know everyone has different tastes and it's great that your honest. One thing I love about Terre d'hermes is how it smell completely different in the air when I smell it on my skin I automatically think that, even though I love it, it won't be a complement puller but ladies just stop as I walk by them and tell me that I smell absolutely gorgeous.

the scent in the air is what really matters, reviewers or perfumers sniffle with their noses close to the skin, in order to analyze what notes are in there. the end. but in most of the fragrances, it smells very much different from the scent in the air. this is a fact, that sometimes makes me even angry, because it is so stupid to do it, in order to rate the smell of a scent. 1 example: Polo green smells a bit bitter and harsh before the late dry down with the nose pressed on the skin. does it matter? no. in the air, there is no bitterness at all. or spice bomb extreme. the caraway. some people say there is a body sweat reminiscent note in there if they press their nose on the skin. sure, but, thank god it is in there, it generates that seductive alluring sillage with all the other notes mixed in the air.

Thanks for your review Aaron. I only found your channel yesterday. I can barely pick up on Terre dHermes with my nose. Just can't smell the stuff. But Ultimate by Baldessarrini is full of iso super and I love that juice. Great for layering with woody scents. I love vetiver in Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence and Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum as well. Two different but lovely vetiver scents. I'm quite interested in your new creation guapo. I'd like to experience the bergamot and vetiver you described in it. Sounds magnificent and sublime. Thanks for your passion. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭 😀.

Because he decided one day to retrain and get into it, rather than truly develop a genuine love for it. His lack of knowledge on the great perfumers, brands, perceptions, market-positioning is quite astounding really.. he may have a good nose for aroma-chemicals, but he’s not ever going to be contracted by a big house because, for some reason, he just doesn’t understand the rest of the perfumery game.. he’s a great chemist for sure though and has learned his trade there. Hey, a collab between Sebastian from SGFR and Aaron would really be a good match up. Sebastian can brand and knows how to market. That’s all Aaron needs, a guiding hand in that side of it. Which, really, is 85% of it. The remaining 15% is ‘is your damn product good enough for the market or not?’.

@@Alex-mj5dv you’re talking rubbish because if you’ve smelled his scents you’ll know that many of his recent scents are more ‘designer’ inspired many have similarities to popular niche and designer scents. His upcoming summer scent is basically a better quality fruitier take on the aventus DNA.

    • @Koichi75
      @Koichi75 Год назад +3

@@slumped9677 lack of branding and marketing isn’t helping Aaron. Like Alex suggested having someone to properly position the brand is what he needs. No matter how “designer” his recent releases are. Without poisoning, proper messaging and a brand that cultivate customer base, you end up shooting blank arrows. This means some times you have to let go of the control, allow someone to help run the brand.. so you can keep making the art you love.

Aaron, would you ever be willing to make a video that shows you actually formulating/building a fragrance? I would love to hear you talk about your process. It could be for something very simple, not saying give away trade secrets or anything but to be able to visualize someone actually mixing a fragrance might be interesting. Dunno, just a thought.

I like vetiver perfumes. This one is good and give warm ambery feeling. Definitely mass appealing vibe and fresh, clean and warm.
Not my favourite as I like dark vetiver.
Would love you to do Lorenzo Villoresi "Vetiver" analysis as this is my type of vetiver take. Dark, green, herbal, woody with damp and smokey feeling. Not easy, not mass pleasing, and for sure stand out perfume.
I think everyone who loves vetiver need this in his collection. Not even for wearing but know that such work of art is there.
Then we have Frederic Malle "Vetiver Extraordinaire", but the price is just to much. It's brighter then LV with more citrus, but bitter not sweet what I like.
