Funny story: I change bikes every 3 or 4 years so I was "forced" to upgrade to the Fx Sport 6 because my current bike is a dark grey trek so the 6 was the only one that would allow me to upgrade without having to answer the questions from my wife "is that a new bike?" Awesome bike btw
I purchased the FX Sport 6 a few weeks ago and it’s awesome! Strong carbon fiber frame, carbon seat post, and wheel set. Purchasing the carbon handlebars soon. This bike is fast, baby! Keep riding!
How much weight does the carbon handlebars let you lose? Also, would you recommend this bike as a regular all around bike? Light gravel roads, city trails, highways etc?
I ended up getting the Fx Sport 4 in Dark Aquatic. Beautiful bike and is by far the best bike I have had coming from target “higher end” hybrid bikes. Bike is light, easily 4 LBS lighter than my Schwinn Hybrid Elite bike, easy to carry. It is fast and Agile while keeping me nice and upright and comfortable. This bike should last me a long time can can only imagine what the 6 series is like. Hope this is helpful!
Excellent comparison, I’m very interested in the FX6 Sport, I’ve always wanted a flat bar road/gravel bike & this bike is exactly what I’m looking for. I had a Domane SL6 but just couldn’t get comfortable on it for some strange reason. I’m a mtn biker, Stache 9 & 2021 Top Fuel 9.8, the flat bar look & feel is what I want to try for gravel, nice job, new sub here from Philadelphia!
I love this review and it came in very handy when it was time to choose which bike was right for me. I have planned all along to upgrade to tubeless. It made choosing the Sport 6 very easy. I've had it for about a month now. The tubeless upgrade was easy and I love putting the miles on! Great bike for someone transitioning from single track Cross country to gravel riding.
Thank you for this awesome review. Just today I bought the FX sport 5. I did not see the point of spending an extra $1000 CAN. Dollars for the carbon wheels and a 2.0 lb. Lighter bike. I also chose the red carbon color. I was glad to hear at the end of your video that you prefer the FX sport 5.
*Looked at a lot of options for getting my **Latest.Bike** . Great find in SAVA. Super light, nice components, really good value as it comes with many options only found in much higher priced bikes.*
Really like your comparison I too agree with you as the fx sport 5 smoke red is the eye catcher for me too. Glad that I bought it from Trek Sacremanto last month
Great review ! Very informative. This weekend I went out to look for a new bike to replace my aging Fuji hybrid bike. I want something much lighter than my 33 lbs Fuji, so I can go faster and go after some road hills like a road bike with less effort. I much refer the flat bar and not the drop bar. I looked at Cannandale, Specialized, and Trek. Between the great information and advises I received at the stores, my internet research, and this review from Talalipop, I placed the order for a FX Sport 6 version. Scheduled for late June arrival. Yes, high end FX S5 and S6 are not available around my area, supply chain issue hit all bike brands. Putin war criminal probably makes the situation worse. Slava Ukraine ! Oops, sorry, I digress.... Well, from a pure bang-for-your-buck point of view, IMHO, S6 is a better purchase than S5 or S4. The key reason: Bontrager Aeolus Elite 35, OCLV Carbon wheels which are part of only S6 model. These wheels are $1k if you purchase them separately. If you start with the S4 price and upgrade with these carbon wheels, you are already at that S6 price, not to mention all S6 upgrade parts. Similarly, if you start with the S5 price (parts are quite similar to S6) and upgrade with these carbon wheels, then you are over the S6 price tag. Note that all Carbon part of FX Sport are life time warrantee ! and 2 years warrantee of free repair or replacement if the wheels are damage even if your car accidentally ran over them. I have never spent this much money on a bike until now, but after 18 years of fitness biking, this is a great investment for my health. Looking forward to riding it, and adding many more years of fitness exercise. Good luck with your purchase. And thanks Talalipop !
You will love the FX6. I picked mine up this past Saturday and have put 50 miles on it over the weekend. It is super light and insanely fast, much faster than I thought it would be. It just makes you want to keep riding, truly an enjoyable bike to ride long distances.
Finally got my FX6 4 days ago, after 2.5 months wait. Did not come with Shimano brakes as advertised, so local Trek ordered and replaced with Shimano. Nice job. Day and night in comparison to my 8 yrs Fuji hybrid. 21 lbs vs 33 lbs. A lot less effort during acceleration and up hill. Carbon wheel is amazingly (crazy) light weight. Avg speed up by 2 MPH and shave off 10 min from 65 min trail ride, compare to the Fuji. Will try to ride on the road. Pedal and derailleur feel tight and precise. Rode test FX4 as well. Different might not be much between FX 4 and FX 6, but I just want to go all in. Much better value than Specialized counterpart. Glad I bought this FX 6. A keeper.
I went in to buy a dual sport 3 at trek today and rode it along with an fx sport 4 and 6. I left wanting an fx. Do you find yourself missing yo ur dual sport 3 at all? I just want a good all around bike that I can either ride on smooth gravels, city sidewalks, or a paved or smooth trail. Ahh input is appreciated.
@@hurt1704 Nope. The FX is superior. I use my FX5 for fitness, riding with the family, and trails/gravel. It is way lighter and faster than my old DS3. Go FX you won't regret it.
@@GaryAnastasio kinda my thoughts. That’s ds felt very heavy compared to the fx 4 and 6 I rode. It changed my mind rather quickly. I’m going to try to find a 5
@@hurt1704 Nice! Let me know how it goes for you. I ended up with the blue version of the FX Sport 5. The red was not in stock yet. Both are amazing looking bikes. The paint with the carbon fiber looks amazing in the sunlight.
I really didn't think 1x system will work for gravel/fitness bikes but have using the 40T 12-46 for few months, it really works for both speed and hill climbing and truly a "do it all" setup for all purpose bike.
thanks for reviewing these bikes. thank you for mentioning the number of teeth on the front chainring. I don't know why so many bike channels ignore this variable. i like the geom, but not the color options. dark colors for bikes, not a fan.
Thank you too! And that is the same video I linked at the beginning of the video and in the description. For some reason RUclips doesn't allow me to link the same video again later in the video.
Excellent review The FX Sport 5 has just been announced for Australia, Aug 2022, however over 12 month wait, ETA Sep 2023...will go to my LBD and lay down a deposit tomorrow, the only real difference I can see between FX Sport 5 and 6 2022 model is aluminium v carbon rims, and tyre differences. (English Spelling) I am a heavy rider so will ride on the metal rims. thanks for the review and pointing out the difference in geometry between 2021 and 2022 models..
Nice and comprehensive review. With that said, I just bought one of the very last remaining new 2021 FX Sport 4's left in the entire US. My FX will never leave pavement so I much prefer the narrower rims and 32C tires. Also the 2021 is a bit stretched out more and I am a tad more bent over then the 2022 model. The ISO speed decoupler smooths the ride somewhat and the GRX drivetrain is better then whats on the 2022 model equivalent. For its intended purpose the 2021 model is hands down the way to go. Its almost like my Madone but with a flat bar. In fact, the 2021 FX Sport Carbon 4 model frame is the same as earlier series Domane frames. I cannot understand the "gravel" concept. I have different bikes for different purposes. If I ever want to go the " gravel" route , I will ride my Fuel EX 8. Or the Verve 3. BTW one of the best things of the 2021 FX 4 Sport Carbon was the price. I drove almost 200 miles to get it but it was slightly over $700.00 off the original price. Sweet indeed.
Agreed, the 2021 model is great value. I got mine for $1450 earlier this year and have since upgraded to Hunt 34 Aero Wide wheels, 44t Wolftooth chainring, and Conti GP 5000 tires and it’s almost as fast as my road bike. I also picked up a second wheel set (Hunt All Road) fitted with 35mm Gravel King SS tires and am planning to take it on light gravel.
Great comparison! I keep toying around with the idea of upgrading my 10-year old Trek 7100. Looking at the FX Sport 5 but with added Redshift suspension (PA roads are horrid after all!).
Trust me - when you see the 6 - when you pick up the 6 - you’ll want the 6. I sold my stigmata to get this . Flat bar gravel has always made more sense ; credit Trek for listening.
@Talalipop MTB. Nice video! I bought a 2023 FX3 last week ($1049) but decided I should have gotten the FX4 Sport instead to have the full carbon frame. Went back to the Trek Dealer but didn't really like the colors and that it had the same Deore components as the FX3 I was exchanging so I ordered a 2023 FX5 in Red Carbon Smoke for $2099. Do you think the 2023 Trek FX Sport 5 will be worth double the cost of the 2023 FX3 I had a week? I’m mostly a runner but plan on biking once a week between 15 to 50 miles. Thank you kind sir
My 2022 Trek Fx Sport 6 is arriving within 2 weeks. Can't wait! Been waiting since April 2021. My original order was the 2021 model, but that model is no longer available. The LBS here is honoring my deposit for the 2021 model, so in effect, I will be paying for the price of 2021 model but am getting the 2022 model! Sounds good to be true? We'll see if the Store Manager will fulfill his promise. Will update this comment once I get the bike.
That is awesome if they do honor the 2021 pricing for the bike. You'll love the bike when it does arrive. Let me know if you get Shimano parts or Prowheel/Promax components when you receive it.
I will keep saying it again and again. Trek should definitely promote you and recognise you far more. The impact you are having is simply incredible… I am very angry with the silly U.K. prices. I also wish they did a sport 5 with just the fork in carbon and all the rest of the equipment…price will drop below the 4 or roughly same..
Another great review. Given the $300 difference between the 4 and the 5, and, as you pointed out and I confirmed: Trek is actually putting the Promax brakes on the 5 right now, might the 4 be a better buy with 300 to spend on upgrades?
I plan to purchase the FX Sport 4 model and your video helped solidify my decision. My only uncertainty is the color - Trek White or Lithium Grey? The stores near me do not have any in stock. Do you have a recommendation based on your experience?
@@shamrock4840 Hoping the delivery date to the warehouse on 5/2 for me won't keep getting pushed up. I do feel somewhat good about it as the Trek shop I'll be getting it from has an FX4 and 5 2022 ready for customer pickup on the store racks already.
@@shamrock4840 I picked mine up today and got a 20 mile ride in before the rain came through. The bike flies on the paved greenway, which is what I purchased it for. Let me know how you like yours, once received. I love this bike!
Thank you for the video . I just purchased the 2022 Fx4 Sport. Coming from a hard tail MTB. This bike is smooth and fast. Do you think it’s worth to upgrading to a FX Sport 6 for another 1k?
Ice-Lectric Tesla, as a 2022 FX6 owner, I can tell you that the 4 is very capable as I rode it before going for the 6. You're paying for better components on the 6 and an even smoother ride. I consider resale value on these knowing that when and if I decide to upgrade, I'll get more for the top end model.
@@link-world but you clearly spent more to buy the higher end bike… I’m not sure which trim of the fox line would yield the most resale value % in return. But then again you get the bike that suits your budget and preferences.
Hi Talalipop ! I want to ask if the fx sport 5 car has size XS or not? Why the new version 2022 doesn't have iso speed ? Is the new frame better than the old fx sport 4? I noticed that the options of the old version fx carbon 4 2021 are the options of the new version fx sport 5 2022. The only difference is the new frame and no iso speed and the price increases by about $200. I just want to know if this new frame technology is better to replace iso speed or not? Thanks
@@TalalipopMTB I’m new to cycling. What makes shimano brakes better than pro max?besides brand name obviously. Is there any real world quality, reliability, performance, or user feel differences?
I've been riding a road bike but rarely ride with my hands down on the bottoms of the handle bars, I usually ride with my hands around the top edges..so why have drop bars if I'm not using them? I test rode an FX4 but it was a Med frame, we determined I need a Large..which would kinda improve my position and how it feels. I'm going back there tomorrow as they have assembled an FX3 and a FX 2 in Large. But now I'm pretty sure I want a Sport 4, 5 or 6, not just because of the lighter weight, but I'm really bothered by the rough pavement on the streets, they say carbon feels smoother than aluminum. Between the 4 and the 5 there is only about $300 difference so like he says at the end of this video the 5 seems to be the best choice (I like the dark blue better btw). But I been reading lots of comments here and at a bike forum, and those which bought the FX 6 all rave about how happy they are with them, "they are fast and fun, etc".
March '23, you might be better off checking the Trek site daily to see if inventory changes for areas around you. You might have to drive a state or two, but I'm pretty sure you can find one before next year.
@@link-world I'm from Canada and I the check the site quite often, nothing changes and nothing available near my area, there's a good chance of getting the '23 model by then
Thank you for the video. Nice comparison! At the beginning of the video, you briefly show the FX Sport 5 in Red Carbon Smoke with another FX Sport (I assume) in blue leaning against the wall. However, it is clear the geometry of that bike is not the same as the current FX Sport models you are reviewing. The geometry is slightly different and is most noticable with comparing the size of the head tube? Which model is the bike leaning against the wall?
So those bikes I displayed are actually from another video I made on my channel if you do want to see them more closely. They are indeed the same FX Sport models, the only reason they look different is because they are different sizes (small vs medium). Different frame size bikes will have slightly different geometry to accommodate different rider heights
I know they changed the geometry but will you still be leaning forward somewhat when riding it? Not like sitting at a 90 degree angle or anything right?
They have fender mounts but no mounts for a normal rear rack so it’s not possible, unless you use a rack that attaches to your seatpost or some other rack that doesn’t use mounting bolts on a bike
Depends on the riding style since the Roscoe is definitely more capable and for trail riding while the other two bikes are more lightweight and for cross country riding. If I want to go faster then procaliber, if I want to have a funner ride and ride more bumpy stuff then Roscoe. X-Caliber if I’m more on a budget or if I want a mix of both. The X-Caliber frame is getting a little outdated now in my opinion
I live in a 3 story walk up in nyc, should I get the 6 for weight savings or save the money and find some carbon wheels on eBay or something later on. I only commute, just getting tired of my current 29lb bike and also had enough of the single speeds of had over the years, ny isn’t as flat as some ppl think. Lol
The trek site has the set of wheels that come with the 5 weighing at 560g each front or rear. Total weight would be 1120g for the pair. The 6 wheels on the same site weigh 745g front and 940g rear with a combined weight of 1685g. So explain how the wheels that come with the 6 are lighter and how the bike weighs less when everything else is the exact same. Even with the hubs included in the weight of the 5’s wheels it’s still less than what seems to be an additional 400g which puts the wheels still at a lesser weight on the Trek fx sport 5. Now I know this must be wrong because I own a 6 and it’s lighter than a 5 but it seems like the wheels at least on Treks site are not.
I noticed that on the Trek site, now listed as 2023. This model just came out April/May of this year, little confused as to why they are now listed as 2023. For what it's worth, I guess I now have the 2023 model, purchased in early May!
Tried a 2022 FX 4 a few days back and found it had a very clean look, decent kit, and an extremely smooth ride - even across a grassed park during my limited test. But I found the bike's prominently upright riding position off putting coming from my 10 year old, Can 0 Ale Quick CX1. In retrospect during that 30 minute ride I felt no pain, even forever my messed up right palm/wrist. Hey, maybe it is time for a switch up? I wonder about riding this for a 25 mile ride - any experiences?
I put on 53 miles on a ride a few weeks ago on my FX6. Due the design and riding position, you just don't tire easily and deal with pain from the riding position. This bike is extremely comfortable for long distance riding, truly the best bike to date I've ever owned for distance riding.
@@allanharris4281 Sure does, I actually did that this morning on my 32 mile ride before the heat and humdity kicked in, here in NC. If you invest in this bike, you will seriously not regret it. It is that good of a bike!
@@allanharris4281 I've seen your posts on other related videos for the FX. I can tell you're extremely interested in the bike, lol. I can tell you that this is not a road bike as the frame, seating position and overall stance is not aggressive, but you can make it that way somewhat depending on your riding position. I just completed another 30 mile this morning and enjoyed the ride once again. I've never had a bad ride on the FX6. I like this bike so much that I purchased a 2023 FX4 Sport Carbon for my wife yesterday evening. We'll be going on an early am ride tomorrow to break hers in. You should seriously give this bike a try. Depending on where you purchase it, you'll have at least 30 days to ride it, at least Trek will give you that. Get out and ride like crazy to see if it is for you. I love this bike personally. You may or may not love it, but just give it a try.
Can you please tell me what's the difference between treks alpha platinum, gold and silver aluminum. I have searched all over the internet but couldn't find a fitting answer?
They’re not very clear on it but it’s basically a lighter and stronger frame as you go higher. Platinum is the lightest and strongest with the smoothest welds, but I don’t know how much of a difference it is
After endlessly researching bikes and getting ready to buy...and then endlessly searching for a Cannondale Quick Cx1 or a Specialized Diverge E5 Comp EVO, which don't exist for sale in this world...i stumbled upon the Trek FX4 Sport Carbon Lithium Gray. I thought it was a pretty good comparable bike to what i was looking at, plus the store had 1 left in stock so that is what i ended up with. I have had for it week now. Def don't have any complaints but i don't have any experience to compare to other bikes. I did read that the FX4 is using less quality parts then the year prior which is disappointing to learn.
Correct. A few of the components from 2021 model is the same as 2023 FX5 and 6 I believe. But you do have a new beefier frame but without the isospeed for whatever that’s worth to you. Enjoy!
Hmm good question. I think the dual sports are still more hybrid because of the suspension forks and more mountain bike geometry, while the FX bikes are more gravel since they are closer to road bikes, so they will be faster and lighter in weight. These lines are getting a little blurred now though hahaha
Agreed. I went XL on the sport 6. At 6-1 I was worried I made an expensive mistake. I have come to appreciate the extra room in the saddle. My combination Road and gravel rides are very comfortable and I have no problems keeping up with my friends on their high end gravel bikes.
I guess you could put drop bars on them, but you would have to get new brake levers and shift levers since these will not work with drop bars. It might be a pain to convert everything but it is possible!
Jitin, that is exactly why I purchased my FX6, for strictly paved trail riding. The bike flies on pavement. I put in a 53 mile ride yesterday on mine and it went by very quickly, because the bike is just that fast and enjoyable to ride. I only stopped riding because I got hungry and rode back home for lunch.
Definitely not. The previous model was perfect for pavement, but so much has changed in 2022 model: Frame shape; drive train; wheels/ tires. Not so good now.
Great video! Forgive my ignorance but since you work for Trek I have a few questions. I don't need the 4, 5, or 6 for gravel, I'm only interested in road. I see that they come with 40 tires. 2 questions: 1. Can you get thinner tires without changing the wheels and 2. Can you get smooth road tires instead of the more knobby ones?
I ended up getting the FX 4 because I wanted the broader dynamic range (46/11=4.18) more than anything else. Yeah, the gear steps are larger but that comes mostly from the 1x. BUT, I am looking to figure out a gear combo that will give me the 5x+ range of the higher end cassettes. It seems you may be suggesting a solution to this problem. Is that correct? I ride 75% on road, 25% on dirt/gravel, some pretty steep hills in the Bay Area and Tahoe. So FX 4, as built, gives you low gear 42/11=3.82 and high 42/26=0.91
2x only help you for climbing hills if you have the same cassette and same large chainring on 1x drive train. To compensate for that, the single drive train needs more low gear on the cassette. That is why the new bike just uses 1 x drive with 12 speeds to quick change the gear and less cost than dual crank drive system
Talalipop, great video explaining the differences. One question to ask as I just got off the phone with Trek Support a few minutes ago. If you were to have an FX4 Carbon go head to head with an FX6 Carbon for overall speed, which bike would have a higher top end speed, provided the riders are of equal weight and cycling ability? It almost sounds as of the 4 is faster but the 6 may be faster overall, because it's lighter? Can you provide a factual answer on this?
Thank you! Did you ask them that question as well? I have not tested it but I would bet the FX Sport 6 to be faster because of the lighter weight overall and the lighter wheels which are also more aerodynamic. It would at the least accelerate faster from the start.
@@TalalipopMTB I didn't, I'm just going to get out there and ride the FX6 when I receive the notification it's ready for pickup. If it's not as fast I would like it to be, I'll just upgrade the front chain ring in the future. I'm really after the carbon rims. I have a 2021 Procal 9.7 for the off-road trails and the lightness of that bike has absolutely spoiled me. Out of all the bikes I've ever had over the years, the 9.7 is by far the most fun to ride to date.
@@TalalipopMTB Wouldn't at these speeds overall aero be more important? Constant power output. In other words, do you think the aero of the FX6 is significantly better than the FX 4? i.e. better than the 5% difference in the top gear ratios - 40/11 vs 42/11?
@@svilentzonev8018 I'm not quite sure about the numbers and don't have a scientific answer for this one but I do know that I am very impressed with the speed of this bike. The bike is amazingly light and quick. For the close to 200 miles I've put on mine thus far, this one is definitely a keeper, even with the 40 tooth chainring for now. When riding on the flats, I have one remaining gear to use if I wanted to go faster. I find that I'm averaging 18/19 mph on the flats at a good clip. That is good enough for me. I'm no roadie by any means, but this bike can flat out cover distance quickly!
Fx sports 5, 2022 model is a horrible bike in every way. How could Trek produce this piece of crap...having created such a great bike in the previous FX sports 5 model. Why is everyone trying to make us believe we are privileged to have a smaller range of gears? The sitting position is just too upright to generate speed. I went back to my BMC Alpine today, a 700 dollar bike, and it beats this new trek hands down. I'm talking road riding but I'm sure this new model can't suddenly transform itself from it's slothful self when it's running on gravel.

Thank you! And that’s good to hear
My red FX Sport 5 2022 comes in this week! So excited! Upgrading from a Dual Sport 3.
Yess!!
I really didn't think 1x system will work for gravel/fitness bikes but have using the 40T 12-46 for few months, it really works for both speed and hill climbing and truly a "do it all" setup for all purpose bike.
which bike comes with 12-46?

thanks for reviewing these bikes. thank you for mentioning the number of teeth on the front chainring. I don't know why so many bike channels ignore this variable. i like the geom, but not the color options. dark colors for bikes, not a fan.
Of course! I like brighter colors as well but these definitely do pop a bit more in the sun.
Deep aquatic. Love the dark colors

Totally agree, i also were lucky to get the 2021 fx 4 sport model
They're on clearance right now for 1499 (2021 model). Worth a buy?
Great review !! Thank you 🙏

Excellent comparison!

Great comparison! I keep toying around with the idea of upgrading my 10-year old Trek 7100. Looking at the FX Sport 5 but with added Redshift suspension (PA roads are horrid after all!).
Very good review!!!
Thank you!!
Trust me - when you see the 6 - when you pick up the 6 - you’ll want the 6.
I sold my stigmata to get this . Flat bar gravel has always made more sense ; credit Trek for listening.

Great Videos! Thinking about the FX Sport 5. Can the FX Sport 4/5/6 accept an internal dropper post?
Are the prices not the same?
These look great I currently have a basic DOMANE, hybrid looks great too 😍😍
2022 version is super sleek looking. Love it. I might have to get the new version of this. Wonder what is new for 2023?
I will keep saying it again and again. Trek should definitely promote you and recognise you far more. The impact you are having is simply incredible…
I am very angry with the silly U.K. prices. I also wish they did a sport 5 with just the fork in carbon and all the rest of the equipment…price will drop below the 4 or roughly same..
Aw I’m so flattered! Thank you for your support :))
Hey man, can you do a review on the Trek FX sport 6 2025? There's been some changes. I'm really looking for someone to do it and I would prefer you to
I'll look into that!
Very good explaining sr thanks you very much

Thanks, vid made a big difference,,,, 2600euro for the 5 here in Ireland, when it comes

Definitely do look similar to the Sirrus X!
Thanks
I noticed and wonder the exact same thing. I’m deciding between fox sport 4 2021 or 2023 models as well.😎👍
Thank you for this great video. Is the FX Sport 5 using the Shimano Break system or Promax? Someone told me it was Promax so I was a bit confused.
It should be using shimano but Trek has been stocking some of them with ProMax brakes due to inventory issues. They are definitely not as good though
Compare with Checkpoint? Other than drop bars
Ordered a FX6, ships in March '23, might be next year's model
March '23, you might be better off checking the Trek site daily to see if inventory changes for areas around you. You might have to drive a state or two, but I'm pretty sure you can find one before next year.
@@link-world I'm from Canada and I the check the site quite often, nothing changes and nothing available near my area, there's a good chance of getting the '23 model by then
What is the weight of the bikes?
@@TalalipopMTB Thank you!
I know they changed the geometry but will you still be leaning forward somewhat when riding it? Not like sitting at a 90 degree angle or anything right?
You’re definitely still leaning forward, you’re only a little more upright so it should be fine!
why fx sport 5 is unavailable in the trek online stores ,im planning to purchase
why did the sport 4 get heavier in 2022? The 2021 model was less than 22lbs and this one is almost 24. I'm guessing the wheels?
Thanks for the detailed explanation. Is it still possible to mount a rear rack for panniers on the FX Sport 4/5/6?
They have fender mounts but no mounts for a normal rear rack so it’s not possible, unless you use a rack that attaches to your seatpost or some other rack that doesn’t use mounting bolts on a bike
So the upgrade between the 5 & 6 is the carbon wheel set?
Any chance Trek would sell just the frame and fork on any of these models and then I could make my own set up?
great video
Thank you!
If you had to pick one.. Xcaliber 9, Roscoe 8 or Procaliber 9.5, which would you choose?
Lol
The fx3 is only 25lbs
The 2023 models are out now. Is exactly the same?
@@link-world Thanks for this. Does the rider position allow you to put your head down and get some high energy riding done?
@@allanharris4281 Sure does, I actually did that this morning on my 32 mile ride before the heat and humdity kicked in, here in NC. If you invest in this bike, you will seriously not regret it. It is that good of a bike!
@@link-world Interesting, another reviewer/owner described the bike as a leisure bike. I better give it another try!
Platinum is the lightest and strongest with the smoothest welds, but I don’t know how much of a difference it is
Has anyone had any issues with the cables going through the headset making a "grinding" noise? I have.
isospeed is good?
Enjoy!
Why would Trek want to make the FX carbons a gravel bike because isn't the dual-sport a gravel bike? Thanks :)
Hmm good question. I think the dual sports are still more hybrid because of the suspension forks and more mountain bike geometry, while the FX bikes are more gravel since they are closer to road bikes, so they will be faster and lighter in weight. These lines are getting a little blurred now though hahaha
@@TalalipopMTB Got it. The FX is no longer the hybrid it used to be lol. Trek has actively made it a gravel bike. Thank you for the clarification.
When is trek marlin series 2023 release?
I am 6’2, should i get a l or xl?
XL should fit better
Agreed. I went XL on the sport 6. At 6-1 I was worried I made an expensive mistake. I have come to appreciate the extra room in the saddle. My combination Road and gravel rides are very comfortable and I have no problems keeping up with my friends on their high end gravel bikes.
Overall Lesser components for a higher price. Btw the posted price for each bike in this video has increased $100- $200
Are these drop bar compatible
I guess you could put drop bars on them, but you would have to get new brake levers and shift levers since these will not work with drop bars. It might be a pain to convert everything but it is possible!
do you think , the fx sport bikes make sense, for someone only doing pavement riding ?
Jitin, that is exactly why I purchased my FX6, for strictly paved trail riding. The bike flies on pavement. I put in a 53 mile ride yesterday on mine and it went by very quickly, because the bike is just that fast and enjoyable to ride. I only stopped riding because I got hungry and rode back home for lunch.
@@link-world what year ?
@@JitinMisra 2022
Definitely not. The previous model was perfect for pavement, but so much has changed in 2022 model: Frame shape; drive train; wheels/ tires. Not so good now.
Hey just curious how tall you are ? I see you on the small but you look TALL (lol) I am 5 ft tall not sure if I am XS or a S on the FX 4
Hahaha I’m about 5 foot 7 inches, but an XS frame should be the best fit for someone who is 5 foot!
I would like to get an answer to this too, just bought the FX5 and was wondering if I can switch out to 32c tyres
You better buy 2021 fx4 which is better for road than offroad at 1499 now
fx 4 sport Shimano Deore M5100, 11-51, 11-rzędowa
I am still not sure about a 1x drive train. Other than simplicity and weight what reason do I have to change from a 2x?
Great 👍🏽

none of these are good bikes because of the gearing and single front. better off buying an fx2
