    Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial Michelle!! I'm planning on using your name tags to create labels for my project drawers. I teach K-5 Art and I like to label the drawers with the teacher's name and color code it with an assigned grade level color. As I saw you go through the different options of supports to add it gave me the idea of adding visuals to represent our art standards for each grade level.Thank you so much!!! -Michelle K-5 Art Teacher in Illinois

    In case you didn't know, in order to make word art not look so stretched out or narrow, you can hold down the "shift" key when you are resizing it! 🎉

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 года назад +3

      Yes! I did know that trick... but sometimes you want/need it a little stretched to better fill the space (if that makes sense).

      @@PocketfulofPrimary you are a wonderful light of sunshine, and I’m so thankful I happened across your channel! I’m about to ask a question that I hope makes sense. I’ve been watching your videos on digital lesson planning and…
      I am very interested in digital lesson planning because I am OCD. I want to make sure I can physically see everything that I am using and also make sure that I have masters when I need them….so I’m sure you can imagine what my file cabinets and physical binders always looked like. I am interested in combining the idea of the digital planner, with my lesson plans, and interactive digital notebook.
      At this time, I am just starting out. I’ve taught for 11 years, but I’ve been out of the classroom since Feb. 2020. I would be teaching middle school ELA, and I’m interested in putting together my curriculum before getting my job, so I can hit the school year running. Lesson planing always gobbles up my time. So my question is, if I’m starting out blank slate- with all of the things I want to use on my computer…would it make sense to start by uploading all of my docs to google drive, then begin with the digital planner and upload my docs accordingly as hyperlinks there? From there, work on a teacher’s edition of an interactive notebook, and use that to make a student edition at the end of all of that? Plan the skeleton on my classroom- so to speak- from the planner….
      Or would it be better to use google slides to make a live bundle first, so I can flip through the pages of my binder and physically see the activities then choose them and hyperlink them where I want them to fit into my binder?
      I hope that makes sense…please help! I’m so overwhelmed, and I really believe that this could help me plan out my year and have access to all of my stuff in one place.

    Thank you Michelle. Didn't know about word art. I did the name tags, but I didn't add the color background because I used color cardstocks, then I laminated them. They look pretty and very legible to read by the student.

    Great info! I definitely want to share this with teachers near me who start over the next two weeks! You definitely have more crisp equipment! You aren’t missing anything! What you include is perfect. I wouldn’t have even thought about a cursive chart because I don’t even know if they even teach the cursive handwriting the right way anymore! One of my teachers when I was in 2nd grade didn’t realize they had two Russells in class (both of us went by our first name and our last names started a couple letters apart). Most teachers started labeling us Russell good and Russell bad when we were older😆(I obviously was Russell good🤩)!

    Loved the video tutorial!!! Since I have three blocks of 6th grade students they can’t have their name tag taped to their desk. However, they did a “name tent”. In the front they had their name and on each corner on the back things about themselves.

      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much for watching Claudia! 🖤 I had a similar situation when I taught 4th grade because I had multiple blocks of students. A few things that helped were using clear pockets (you can usually find them at Target) so the students could slip their name tags in and out or using Velcro dots or magnets so they could remove their name tag easily when they left the room!

    Michelle, I really like these how-to videos. Because of you, I've started to create curriculum and decor myself (yay, me!). It's been going really well. Thank you! My one problem with Google is that you can't import custom fonts. Come on, Google! I have a font for teaching handwriting that I need to use, which forces me to create in Word, but then it's harder to add my clipart, plus it's not in my Drive so I can only edit on my school laptop. So frustrating!

      Thank you so much for watching Bonnie! 🖤 I think that's wonderful! I agree... it can be frustrating that you can't import custom fonts in Google... but, I've learned to just accept it and use the standard fonts because Google has SO many other positives. You're right though... there are times when you need a specific font like for teaching handwriting and it can be a pain! Maybe someday they will allow you to add your own fonts... one can only hope, ha!

      Hi there! Yes, you definitely can! PowerPoint will actually let you add an outline color to text in a regular text box without it being Wordart. As for preschool, certain instructional elements wouldn't be age appropriate but elements like the colors, shapes, and 100 chart would be perfect!

      Great question! With Google Drawings, you only have one canvas. With Google Slides, you can add as many slides as you want so it's easier to make printable things that will be more than a single page. Hopefully that helps!
