Absolutely beautiful. This video randomly appeared in my feed. So glad it did. Love to see such dedication and care in hobbist. So great. Thanks.
Thx for checking us out. Rubber-power goes to the roots of model aviation, and there are still quite a few of us world-wide
who keep the birds going, both indoors and outdoors. Cheers.
Same here , about a week ago though , it just wonderful and music is soothing .
Thx for all the kind words, guys. I enjoyed everything about this build...learned a lot. Now I just need to get her in the sky more often, as I have a feeling that she could really soar! Cheers.
maxfliart wonder if I could ask what rubber you use? Could you point me to where I can learn to braid the bands together?
Hi, I was just wondering if there was a specific reason you don't use the small electric engines and small batteries. You would get a bit more thrust easily for about 5 minutes. There are micro engines which weigh less than 2g with a propeller. That said there is something to be said for elastic band spinners.

Probably nostalgia, if he is anything like me, Gordon. :)The only time I ever moved away from rubber was an experimental side journey into CO2.
I still have that tiny little engine and its accoutrements and even now, some 40+ years later, can fire it up with a short charge from a CO2 bulb used for soda siphons.
@@hcrun I know a few builders who just refuse to use anything but elastic so you could be right.
reetings from Migs homeland! Great work! Could not imagine, that rubber engine placed in so short department can work for so long time. It inspires to make "long nose planes" like SE-5a or mig-3 placing rubber engine just where it should be, not along all fuselage. It will allow to make a detailed cocpit.
Nice work. I have been building models since 1971. Im in the UK where there were shortages of imports in the 1970's. I built my first rubber powered model model in 1976 and went on to become an aircraft fitter for Rolls Royce Aero Engines and also an army radio operator for a time. Design always escapes me and this video was a pleasure to watch.
Back ground music was perfect
I feel healed in some kind of strange way after watching this video, thumbs up.
Know exactly what you mean - combination of the music, great photos and then finally watching the plane fly free. Now off to view the Seafire start-to-finish build and flight which I can see in my 'recommended' list ... ruclips.net/video/GdQj89ppXyw/видео.html

@@TheHirade is like picture sad feeling
@@piloto5248 for me it brought good feelings, not sad ones
Thx. I feel closest to the earth and to my mom & dad when I fly.
Many years ago my older brother bought a rubber band model airplane kit to build. I can rem. he had to cut all the wing pars and parts out with an Exacto knife on the dining room table following the printed blue lines carefully. The plane had a 36' wing span he covered the wings, fuselage and tail section with clear shrink rap. He used a oil furnace to shrink it drum tight after the glue set. It looked like a balsa wood Skelton in flight, it was a great idea at the time. Also rem. he used our Dads hand crank drill to wind the rubber bands. What a great memory.
You sir are an artist. Stunningly beautiful little build with all the care and attention it deserves. Just looking at this video has boosted my mood no end.
Tom,
Another example of your exceptional craftsmanship. Your inspiration continues. Thank you.
Thayer
I would be already impressed by the model itself but the fact that it can also fly, wow...
This reminds me so much about my dad. He was huge on building balsa wood airplanes. I mainly build plastic models, but I have built many balsa models in the past as well as some in the future. After my dad passed away. He had some balsa models that he was not able to finish. I am in the works of finishing them for him. Thank you so much for post this video.
As an ex-modeller, it's a real pleasure to watch a true craftsman creating something extraordinary.
God! This brings back so many memories of when I was into Peanut Scale in late 1970s - early 1980s.
The laminating, the sliced ribs....it's all a case of deja vu! I used to design one-offs from Aeroplane Monthly 3-views and actually entered a couple of proxy competitions in the USA, sending the models over in light yet strong containers.
Hand-painting each lozenge for a German WW1 camo pattern....was that ever a labour of love!
Walt Mooney, Bill Hannan, Peck-Polymers.....the names come flooding back as I watch this. Great times. :)
Thanks for the video and that is a beautiful job of craftsmanship.
You must be a fan of Bill Hannan's Peanuts & Pistachios series?
Incredible skills and attention to detail. Your models are truly works of art. I've been around modeling for 60+ years, and you are easily the finest model builder I've ever encountered, albeit only via the internet. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing your inspiring video.
That was beautiful. A lot of work! I loved watching it. I'll tell you a story. Back in the 50's, when I was a boy, my dad and I spent a year building a balsa wood u-control airplane with and 035 engine. Neither of us had flown a u-control airplane, before. After completion of our P-51 model we went into the front yard. My dad started it up and off it went on take-off. Only for a second, though, as it came nose diving right back into the ground and broke into pieces.... I would never have the fortitude to fly your model after spending so much time building it!!! Haha!
Haha...well the difference is that the glow head on your dad's U/C model probably weighed more than my entire little rubber-powered job. Thx for the story. We owe our dad's and mentors a lot in this hobby.
Tipping my hat to your patience precision and skill. Awesommess!!
I am really feeling jealous about u , how can u made that man...... this is pure art.....can u please give me ur both HANDS...... Ur dedication, passion and hardwork toward scale model building made me speechless.... take my utter respect from India.. cheers
Art meets physics. Incredible! Thank you for posting.
Absolutely outstanding!! You have much more skill and patience than me. Never knew a rubber powered plane could fly well. Cool.
Always excited to see what you have for us when you upload. Craftsman, artist, engineer... all these works are fantastic. Thank you, Sir, for sharing.
MY first rubber band flight off of a rooftop was incredible. Every thing after was abysmal. Crash after crash. Had to give it up. Your flight was amazing. I crashed my best flying one at a school competition. But was never as advance as you.
WOW ! This is not just a video, but a building documentary revealing details on how to master this hobby.
You have great skills not just on making the models, but on video editing and video filming.
A M A Z I N G channel.
Oh my god, that's great! The model is just perfect, you are a true master of your craft!
Finally got to see how the rubber works in a nacelle! It always seemed to me that such a short motor couldn't take very many winds. Thanks for sharing this!
High art work ! I can feel your emotion when designing, making and testing your model. I use most of the techniques you do. It is so relaxing finishing a model and watching it soaring!
Well done !!!
Wafted away into model heaven and time stands still. Thank you so very much!
The bigger version you have of this one is probably your best flying model that I have seen on this channel.
Thx, since 2012 she has been a solid flyer. It's great when u can pull her out of the box and feel confident for a good flight. Hope to fly her again soon.
All I can say is wow! You sir, are a craftsman of the highest caliber. Simply amazing.
Got to see a plane ive never saw before. outstanding! Learn something new every day!😀
Who could possibly downvote this? Beautiful work, both the plane and the video.
it's a pleasure to see all these 1 days ago comments from a 8 months video. Because you plane is beautiful
Such a creative work you do. I am amazed by the calculations and the manufacturing of this plane... way to go mate!
Just one word. Fabulous!
Excellent work. I used to build a lot of peanut scale with my uncle, but haven't done it in years. Now that I'm retired though, it may be time to pick it up again, :)
Thanks for taking the time to share the lost art of model building. In age of instant gratification, not many would have the patience to take on such a project.
Tom
What a beautiful airplane you made there. It’s really cool that you built a model that not a lot of people know about to be unique. I love it!
Beautiful build! And a lovely flier! I love it!
Beautiful job. Excellent craftsmanship.
Wow amazing work that baby flew like a dream
Thx. I was rather thrilled that first day of flying. Glad she flew...and glad she didn't hook a thermal and fly away!
Another superb model ! Beautifully built with great attention to detail. Thanks for sharing !
wow it was like watching the last day of a butterfly, the way you filmed it and when you held it at the end and the props were still turnning it was like its last grasp at life.
Very nice job!
Married, huh? And she lets you. You got a keeper. Seriously, captivating. Fun by proxy.
Thanks so much for this video, all of it.. great to watch on a cold rainy day indoors... Wonderful, masterful, plus great music too! )
I'm a carpenters by trade and have always enjoyed being creative including aeromodeling but I have only ever met one other man in my lifetime who I would say that was in this man's league as far as skill, artistry and attention to detail goes and he was a late friend by the name of Frank Chapman who not only was a brilliant artist but used to scratch build scale galleons including drawing up plans beforehand.
I just admire this level of passion and dedication.
Hats off to you Tom your just amazing.
Thx for the kind words, John. I would have enjoyed meeting ur friend, Frank.
@@maxfliart your welcome, he didn't make much money due to the labour intensive nature of his craft and there was a very limited market but he did get a living out of it shipping them over from England to America to a dealer who sold them on.
Ps I'm sure he would have loved your work.
Pleasure to watch. Thanks for putting these videos up! Much appreciated.
Just came across this and was amazed. The build and the video you've shared were wonderful. Thank you.
It's so real! the rubberbands worked greatly in the air!
I love how you include building tips! Those props are so amazing!
Captivating to watch. Great music selection as well.
Truly glad this appeared on my feed.
Lovely work and an interesting and unusual subject!👍🏻
Awesome video. 🚁🚁🚁. Thanks for sharing. ✋
Wow! An awesome build.
That was so soothing to listen to and watch the build, and a Beautiful completed model plane, then a beautiful flight. Excellent video
What a beautiful plane. You are one talented person.
Amazing. Thank you for sharing your art.
Out of this world. I wish I had your skills, thank you for the video.
Also what a wonderful area to fly such models.
I'm amazed! Wow, how dedicated to details, to make the wing ribs .. gee .. how perfect was the work ... even on the choice of the airplane, because I never heard about that twin-engine Mig. Fantastic! Thank you!
I really enjoy these postings and watching your patient and excellent craftsmanship - and the subsequent flights transform your efforts
into a life of their own - thanks!
Simply stunning from start to finish!
You sir are a patient man! Great job!
Greetings from Migs homeland! Great work! Could not imagine, that rubber engine placed in so short department can work for so long time. You little beauty. Good memories of all the 'hanger queens' I built but never flew...'-( after all the hours spent building could never have the chutzpah to let them. Lovely build Tom.
It was a pleasure to watch. Thank you very much for the video. Cheers!
Just incredible!
So BEAUTIFUL!
An amazing build, well done 😎
Beautiful refined work; very inspiring. The video shares the same qualities. Thank you.
Truly a little beauty - and flies like a swallow in the wind.
Noel
Thoughtfully constructed - an inspiration for all things.
Thank you for sharing your dynamic workmanship on the model aeroplanes, it's a shame that more people of this generation do not respect I understand the satisfaction after completing something that you've done with your own hands and works what an awesome job thank you. Enclosure remind me when I was somewhat younger building my aeroplanes all by hand even the engines that actually worked.
Inspiration. Thanks for the great detail on how you did this!
one word: majestic
It's always such a pleasure to see your work...
That was great. Thanks for posting. Really enjoyed it.
Wonderful work! Nicely edited! Great craftsmanship!
I just love your videos. So relaxing
i know practice makes perfect ive been doing this hobby since i was a kid and still cant match your craftsmanship your the best ive seen good job
Simply amazing, you are very inspiring. Thanks for taking the time to make such nice videos too.
Просто потрясающе! Это похоже на волшебство.
As a jewelry designer I honor your work! 🤩✌🌟🙏💜
Really amazing work
Awesome talent ..I would luv to build this in a larger scale..but again fantastic work.
My son made these as a teenager and now works for Airbus, I'm so proud of his skills and knowledge he gained from this hobby.
How inspiring. Thx for sharing, Betty.
Soo lovely made, this little beauty. One could wish the constructors Michoyan/Gureyev to see this happen. Only love combined with great skill man make such art. A couple of years ago I scratch builded a two band superheterdyne AM radio with Russian valves from their military surplus, combined with a lot of complicated coils I have to make by trial and error. I gave it the name MIG 14, mostly to honour the great engineers.
Exquisite, thank you for sharing
the music is just as beautiful as the airplanes!
Just...wow. Beautiful
Simply beautiful
Your airplanes are truly beautiful works of art, i love working with balsa and tissue, it can be so peacefull and fun, but i would never recommend someone build the guillows p51d mustang kit and then set it up for control line with a cox .49 engine as their first balsa build unless they were highly skilled, that was my experience but it turned out ok, i was too impatient and used too much super glue and had to do alot of sanding and the other mistake i made was covering the plane with tissue and painting it after it was already stretched and dried, this caused wrinkles and used excess paint than what was needed adding more weight. I have already learned from watching you build. Thank you, cheers from Reno NV
Great job, great video, great music!👍
That was mind boggling. You even made the propellers! You sir are a damn artist!
Love all that you do sir. I hope more people tune in on this. I could watch free flight aircraft all day. Infact I get a natural high off watch anything fly. But you get a way better high when it's a free flight aircraft.
This is some high level craftmanship man
Impressive artwork Sir 👍
Excelente trabajo Tom, felicidades.
¡Gracias por las amables palabras! Thx for the kind words!
Wow. What an art that is
Thanks for sharing
This is art
Great modelplane! Like it.
I had so much fun watching this video! thanks!
Well crafted work of art.
