Hey there! In this episode of The Lord of the Rings - Artifacts of Arda, I'll be making my very own replica of Gandalf's Staff that he carried through the Mines of Moria and used to defend against the dreaded Balrog.

Obviously, you are a massive nerd...and it all works to your favor. Your fervor of the subject matter definitely qualifies you to be a set designer, a consultant on all things Fantasy, etc., as well as *probably a wonderful conversationalist.
Thanks for putting in so much time into producing a very educational and fun video for our entertainment, truly, a labor of love!
I believe that is the most well-said, thoughtful compliment that I've received on here. Thank you very much, I'm flattered.
Thank you for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice
Thanks man . My first project of 2022.
For sure!
Excellent craftsmanship Josh! Really enjoying your tour of the artifacts of Arda. Quite the collection thus far... "Yes, when you also have the Keys of Barad-dûr itself, I suppose; and the crowns of seven kings, and the rods of the Five Wizards, and have purchased yourself a pair of boots many sizes larger than those that you wear now."
Thanks for this video! I just finished making my own, in the painting process right now!! Took all the inspiration from this video!
Awesome, thank you!!
How does this only have 1.5K views. Excellent craftsmanship, just got finish with one of my own and am currently making a second. Followed your steps to make the staff itself although I used a 10,000 lumen flashlight and clear epoxy crystal that I casted from a latex mold I made using aluminium foil for shaping. Great way to give it a natural look. Perfect for night hikes! Thanks for the inspiration
Thank you very much! That's awesome, I love that idea!
Josh, love this recreation of Gandalf's staff! I found an appropriately shaped quartz gem which looks so cool with the flashlight shining through it. Building this for my grandson to use at Halloween, Would you please tell me how I can get a template for the head of the staff? Enjoy your videos and your creativity so much!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
For mine, I just printed pictures that I found online here and a couple other spots that I can't seem to find now - lordoftheringsstore.com/lotr-illuminated-moria-staff-of-gandalf-and-display-plaque/
I printed them on a Plotter printer and had to play with the scale a bit (I tried to base the size on pics of Ian McKellen holding it, standing upright to really get an idea of the correct size).
Thanks again and good luck!
Exellent job!
Would you to make radagast's staff aswell in the future? I would looking forward to that.
Oh that's a great idea! And thank you!!
Hey Josh, this turned out great! Would you be willing to share a link to which template you used?
Whoa JJ,,,, this one was fun, I like this one best! Good show!! Also, kinda enjoyed your (weird)Duck Dynasty impression at the end there Uncle Si.
Haha, thanks man. And yeah, it was hard to correctly embody and portray my inner Uncle Si - I'll have to work on that hahaha
How big was the block of wood you used to glue onto the main pole?
Shoot, I can't remember exactly - I'm guessing like 3 "thick x 5" wide x 8" tall
That was excellent and so much fun! I found your channel thru your Lumix G95 video. Did you use it to film this?
Cuts down several trees…..to make a stick.
Im sure Tolkien would have loved that
Next episode prediction: you are going to construct a 200 foot tall Mallorn tree in your backyard
???????
I'd be happy to answer any questions
