I was born and raised in Oregon. There is so much to see. Mountains, beaches, high desert and more. Thank you for showing this wonderful State. Safe travels
Enjoyed the view of all the areas. Mark I bet you could have made the total 10 miles trip, but you did not want the show up the others…lololo.. One more month down in a few days, January will be here soon…
We are excited for you. Sue and I both remember the first few months in the new rig. Can't remember if this is your FIRST rig, or if you are seasoned. We didn't even have a tent prior to the Dutch Star! Glad we skipped that stage.
Great video and nice hike trail. It’s good that they had you sign in and out of the park just in case something happened to you in the trail. I wish all the parks did that. That’s nice you got to meet up with sone old friends. It nice Oregon has people wait on you as you get gas. Hope you both have a great week abs see you soon!
@@OurJourneyInMyles I only know that I'm willing to sale everything to do this. I have been watching youtube for over 3 years learning and trying to understand in order to make the right decision. I'm looking for a 2010 to a 2016 45' bath and 1/2. no more than 50k miles. Hopefully one owner that they kept all records of oil changes etc. I can guess the cost around 175k to 250 K. I hope I have the right ideal. Last thing I want to have everything paid off. This will include the motorhome .
We absolutely loved that area, but regretfully, we blew right through staying only one night at a Harvest Host - Devitt Winery on Hwy 238 just west of Jacksonville. We had a might fine time at that winery, but got up early the next morning for our push to Astoria. I'd say that area of Oregon is definitely a come back for us!. Pumping your own gas - yeah that took me by surprise also, and some stations had trouble believing my truck takes diesel! Thanks for sharing this with us!
We looked at staying at a Harvest Host near Jacksonville as well. Might have been the same one,....but we needed a week to stay, .......and didn't want to have to move twice!
@@OurJourneyInMyles If you happen to go back to that area, Alpacas at Lone Ranch (east of Jacksonville) is a very nice Harvest Host experience, and I think they can accommodate your rig. Highly recommended!
Oregon is actually a very nice state either inland or along the coast! Our favorites we look forward to each time we're out that was is the town of Astoria! Stay Safe and Happy Trails 🍷!
Thanks folks, For another great video. This is a great part of the country. Dad and I were there in 1975. Plan on going back next year. Due to the pandemic this has been delayed a couple of years. Warmest regards. Hope to see you on the road one day. Jeff Smith.
Ok Marco, those aren't just walking sticks, they are also your defender sticks against aggressive chipmunks you might encounter out in the wild! (like the way everything seems to go these days, when will they be available as e-walking sticks?) Thanks for the entertainment you all provide.
Many quaint towns like Jacksonville in Oregon. So much to see and do. Hope you had a chance to stop in the Columbia Gorge during your journey. If you drove I84, you drove by some of the most beautiful hikes in the country. Guess the beauty is one of the reasons for the Oregon trail and not just the Midwest winters. Lol.
The wife & I were just there two months ago visiting our son and daughter inlaw they live in Medford. They also took us through Jacksonville for half the day. It's definitely a very beautiful little town and has lots of events that happen year round. Very Nice episode.
We were there last august. Great time wine tasting in Jacksonville. Hope all is well with you guys. Jim and Cheryl (from Portland Fairview rv park). Be safe
Your welcome Doc! Gotta keep the wife happy,.........just take a few short trips by yourself and do some awesome exploring. You can then return home, and report in with all the details and video footage.
I LOVED THE MOUNTAIN VIEWS. WOW... BUT IF SMOKEY THE BEAR WAS WITH YOU QUARTET, HE WOULD HAVE BRUNG WATER CANNONS FOR THE DRIED GRASS. OH MY THERE WERE MANY PARCHED AREAS OF GRASS. NOT GOOD. BUT YOUR HOSTS RON AND JODI WERE A BLAST TO HANG OUT WITH. I WAS BEHIND Y'ALL. AND THE VERY LAST TO COME DOWN THE HILL. 😁👵 ENJOY THE REST & RELAXATION. ♥️♥️♥️
It is a really nice park,.........right off the freeway. We never hear much traffic because we are used to it and the rig is tight. I don't remember it noisey. If you have a larger rig or fifth wheel, stay on the outer spokes of the "lollipop camping loops". The length of the site listed is the overall length of the site,.......not the rig length it can accommodate. The dump station is set up really nice, with tons of room to work in,......looks like it could be quick if folks stay focused! We would stay again!
We have just sold our house and are also working our way into full time RV life with our DS 4369...our plan is to boat in the summer up in the PNW and go south in the winter...we have a land yacht and water yacht now :-) Hope you guys make it up our way, we could take you to Roche Harbor on San Juan Island...look it up Mark :-)
I just love you guy's !!! Thanks for all your hard work making your channel exciting to watch !!! We just recently purchased a 2016 DS 4369 and I really appreciate all of your tips regarding that rig !!! If you make it up to the Seattle area, let me know and we would be glad to take you in our water yacht up into the great waters of the PNW and San Juan Islands...would make some great content for you :-)
The story of my life! A day late and a dollar short. Thanks for the offer. As I already replied, we are in Bozeman MT at the moment. Heading to Mount Rushmore!
Nice looking area. I asked my wife about Jacksonville as she’s a native Oregonian, houses are a little expensive, but that’s the cost of living in a nice town… Still trying to decide what we want to do with the rest of our lives (mid 60’s now)… (1) Bored sitting around the house maintaining it… (2) Thinking about going back to work… (3) I’d really rather travel and shoot photos… (4) Concerned about what happens when you “come in off the road” from full timing. How do you get back into a sticks and bricks home if need be… Anyone have advice on these subjects.
My advice would be to keep your house if you like the area, and want to live their into your declining years. In our case, WI was going to be too cold and gloomy. We sold the house and parked the money in the bank. We own our rig and cars outright. You have to have the finances to switch from one life to the other.
One of my first jobs in the early 70’s was pumping gas, checking oil and washing the car windshield. After two weeks the station went self-service and I was laid off. Good thing or I might still be working there…forced me to go to college and law school.
I did that from 1966 to 1976 at a gas station called Bill Maynards Standard and UHaul Service. It was a glorious time in my life! Our boss paid us on commission,...the more you did and sold , the more you made. Imagine "averaging" $4.16/hour in 1971 at a gas station.
that's right we do not pump our own gas but if you will notice the states that do pump their own gas, the gas is not cheaper if you take away the labor costs

Oregon had a very nice feel to it while we were visiting. In two weeks we will show our Multnomah Waterfall visit. It was breathtaking!
Great video! I know that gas station! We camped on the Rogue River near there. Lovely area... and Oregon is so RV friendly.
Oregon truly is a beautiful state. What a small world that you know that gas station!
Just beautiful area loved every min. of it. Still working on purchasing my first Class A .
Best of luck Jeff! It's a big and expensive decision. Take the time to get it right for you!

Think it might be time to trade up to a newer model so you can get a steerable tag axle for those tight campgrounds.
Pretty sure we are hoping Myles will take us to the end of our RVing career without having to buy anything else!
Thanks for bringing us along Mark and Sue. Stay safe out there. And your right, how do park rangers know who’s checking in and who’s not?🤔.
Good question! We remembered! Trust me, it was WAY steeper than it looked. It was a little scary for this old guy.
