Thank you! I'm glad that you can see the improvements I'm trying to make. Audio has been challenging because I record in the same room I keep all my tanks, so I appreciate that.
Wow you are very talented. I can see someone like you making it big and having a TV show and a line of diy products. And your other terrariums are bad ass!
I never cease to be amazed when a new video of yours pops up in my sub box. Creative, entertaining, and educational. How can you go wrong? Can't wait to see the final & completed setups with plants/decor!
I have indeed. It's hard to shy away from someone so like minded. I just wish I were on your level XD. I plan to tackle my 1st real build this year. I have several tanks but none made by my own two hands. I have plans to create a Native Terrarium with a pond. I'm still working out the kinks though.
Very nice, I built mine from a old TV stand. A glass shop wanted about $240.00 bucks for tracks and glass. Built my doors like yours, for about $43.00 bucks. Thanks!
Wow. Great job! So many little parts that need to be cut and glued together. A little tip with the front door frames. You can drill small holes and insert small dowel rods or even toothpicks with some wood glue instead of using the screws. Then cut and sand flush with the wood. Do this before you stain the frame and it will look nice and clean. You could also probably just add a bead of silicone inside the viewing panel grove instead of doing both sides after it is assembled. You should put together complete plans for this. People would eat it up. Keep up the awesome work!
Great video man! This, and your original build have both given me alot of inspiration and ideas for my monitor cage build. :) Can't wait for summer and better building weather! Salutions from Sweden and a early congrats to the 100k subs! :)
I love these enclosures. Part of me would love to have something like this but with a small tunnel to connect the two so that after the vivarium is put together there would be a cave in both to connect the two and let the creatures (geckos or whatnot) to go back and forth and visit each other. It might be better to make a big one and just have them together, but it would be fun having two tanks that can interact with each other but have their own space, if they would even realize that each side is their own space. With my luck they'd both prefer one side over the other.
Whelp, I know my next build. Considering I built the cabinets and doors of my kitchen, I bet I can do this. Gonna add a 'pond' in the front to one side, however. Probably just use a 'window' with wood frame around it, don't want to make a gap near the door... Hum... Now I have to think about it. This is awesome, you've inspired me!
Meanwhile, I'm watching the video and all I want is the list of measurements for both versions so I can get all of the wood cut lmao. Great design, and I'd love to recreate it.
For a ball python I once had I just bought a nice second hand dresser drawer and plexiglass to fit the front. I unscrewed and cut out all the drawer brackets and an entry access on the side. Drill small holes in the plexiglass for ventilation and to attach to the wood, hope this helps.
I'm planning on making a few of these so I put together a lowes list together and it adds up to about 500 for every material and the tools to make two of them. that being said I am purchasing all the tools as I don't have any yet so if you take out the tools it would be a lot less. I saw a lot of people wondering about the price to make this so I thought I would include my experience with pricing. they are definitely worth it though
What a great build. I've watched the large version as well, they really look great! Wish I had the tools and materials to make something like this. I really want a nice furniture to put my vivarium on. I'm not a fan of the standard black 90's looking table that usually comes with aquariums and terrariums.
I'd have added metal corner supports. You can't rely on screws drilled into 1/4 inch plyboard for adequate support, though you also added a thousand individual little pieces which I wouldn't have the patience to do, and I have a lot of patience. Over all, you are more of a craft-o-holic than I could ever be, but one way or another, it turned out nice. Still, it would have used a pre-stain so as not to create a mottled appearance.
Always love your videos! I also love that you leave a light compartment, I feel the same about naked bulbs in a tank, yikes! Question though, I'm looking to build this myself, what kind of budget should I have for this? How much as an estimate would you say it costs to build this?
Fantastic man! I have been looking forward to this video for awhile. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail are always excellent. I do wonder about airflow? Did you consider putting holes or a screen in the front of the enclosure to create airflow within the enclosure? Just wondering what your thoughts on this are. I know some designs like the exoterra have the airflow holes drilled in the front.
Thank you I'm glad that it was worth the wait. In terms of ventilation/airflow, I will include a fan in the light compartment, which will bring in new air and circulate the existing air within the enclosure. That's how I did the other one and it worked well. It wouldn't be bad to include more ventilation, but it's probably not necessary for a tropical environment. That said I think a lot of people end up modifying Exo Terra enclosures to be better suited for vivariums.
Another impressive build, nice job! I can't wait to see the next installment. Do you feel that a locking mechanism is necessary for Crested Geckos? I was planning on using those small acrylic clips that you just rotate and are commonly used to hold window screening in place, similar to what you would see on the back of a picture frame. Thanks, man.
I should have stated I'm doing a polycarbonate front to a vertical tank, obv the type of clip I mentioned would not work on the type of door in this video.
Yes! Locking mechanism is mandatory. They are little escape artists, and will sneak out of the tiniest of places. Need to guarantee a tight fit with something that isn't flimsy.
Your designs are awesome, I built something similar but much, much, larger. Yours has a mesh screen covering the light compartment, how are you attaching your heat lamps inside the compartment?
I love your videos!!! Thanks so much!! I’ve gotten a few ideas. Is it possible for a list of products you used please? Also, considering heat, moisture, humidity and misting, is this safe for a chameleon enclosure? Thanks so much!!
What did you use for the epoxy? White pond armor? I'm going to try to build a bio-active habitat for our newest pet, a bearded dragon. Luckily he is still fairly small, but I need to build him a large enclosure over the next few months. I want it to be 4 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft and have doors on the front like this, and waterproof. I like the drain idea too! Brilliant craftsmanship! I'm so inspired! Thank you for sharing!
do you have a step-by-step guide (say like on a reddit page or in a document) that you could link us to? id like to make this during the upcoming weekend and i need to make a whole list of materials id need. love the video!
I was curious what some coffee grounds might do to a terrarium - I've used leftover grounds for my vegetable garden with great success, but was wondering if you've ever tried with your plants?
dude once you wife up your fiance, and buy a house, you are going to be a never ending source of "you know, honey, i was thinking, what if we put a ___________ on the ___________." and "Tanner junior needs to learn to use a _________, and the yard is looking a little borning, we need a ___________"
awesome vid! may i ask, what did you use for lighting? concerned with the humidity in the enclosure and heat that may accumulate at the top portion. thank you!
Could this be done simply by repurposing a cabinet and have you ever done that if not you should do a video of that making a terrarium cabinet out of a small hutch
Im planing to buy a crested gecko but im wondering if i should do a tank with fake plants or a planted vivarium. I have never owned a gecko before and this would be my first. What should i choose? Somone pliz responde i need help..:/
I've never made a vivarium before... but i'd recommend fake plants because the gecko might eat real ones, but i'm sure there are living ones that they won't eat.
Crested Geckos don't eat live plants. However, if you have never kept one before, you're better off starting with fake plats. Live plants will add a whole layer of potential issues that you may not want to deal with as a beginner. However, long term real plants, in a bioactive vivarium are easier. I am releasing a series on Crested Geckos shortly, so it could give you some good ideas on what to do, if you want to go the bioactive route.
@SerpaDesign Oh hi. I have a question as well. I just made an open succulent terrarium and added what I thought was naturally colored reindeer lichen, but then when I added the water the green dye came out of the lichen And turned the soil where it was green as well as the water in the false bottom. I definitely over watered it but I read dye doesn't effect succulents. What I'm most concerned about is "will the dyed water evaporate after some time?" (also i watered down the lichen so that it has barely any dye in it now) So will my terrarium be fine, or will it dye?
I doubt you'll have any issues with the dye, but I can't say for certain. Personally I would leave it for now and if you notice your plants having issues, then redo the setup.
Could you possibly produce a PDF of all the sizes of wood that you used and the cuts so that would be easier to put together for somebody watching a video? Also what was the total cost for you
Would that epoxie mix be safe for a tarantula enclosure if it is safe for reptiles? Really wanting to build my Tarantula an enosure out of wood. Ive build my turtles enclosur from wood. My spiders enclosure would be much smaller and more simple compared to this build. Lol
I am looking to do something similar, but slightly smaller and taller. I am trying to decide how to do the lighting. Any tips? I can't decide between an LED aquarium style bar light or some type of hood for fluorescent lighting. There will be live plants!
Genuinely curious question - Do you really need the screws considering the strength of the wood glue? I build cabinets and always remove the screws at the end per manufacturer instructions. Have you tried just wood glue before without screws?
I am intrigued by this, but how is maintenance and cleaning with a design like this. I have only ever used exo terra vivarium so but I like the look of this a lot more
These are gorgeous! 😍 Where did you get the glass? I hope I can be patient enough to build something like this for an Amazon Tree Boa, and my Ratsnake and Dumeril's boa.
now make a nano version...honestly i could watch you build enclosures all day
I am actually working on several nano builds right now, so I got you covered.
haha same
With all compliments, this is a diy video that is really an “I’m a skilled artist” video. You blow my mind.
Lol of course there is skill involved, but I'm sure that a lot of people could make this very thing without issue.
Yes but you still designed it and made it beautiful. You go, dude. 🙌
I really wish there was a list of supplies for this, what a great build - very excited to take this on
bro is so awezome how having a pet hobby makes you be a master in other stuff , awezome content
Wow I searched for a small one just 5 hours after this was uploaded thanks!
Awesome video, and the audio was super crisp. I appreciate you continuing to improve youe production value, it is very proffesional.
Thank you! I'm glad that you can see the improvements I'm trying to make. Audio has been challenging because I record in the same room I keep all my tanks, so I appreciate that.
Thanks bruh
@@reggie8370 why are you saying thx😂
@@SerpaDesign how much did this project cost u
These are amazing! They look like museum display cabinets!

Thanks for sticking with me! You've been around since the beginning if I remember correctly.

It was very easy to follow the build. I look forward to seeing you set it up for the geckos.
They both look absolutely incredible
Eventually I want to make something very similar! Thank you for the inspiration!!!
Glad to have been an inspiration!

Thinking of getting one of the smaller monitor lizards so this is perfectly timed
Love the build!! This is very helpful for my Bearded Dragon enclosure build!
Just what I needed to see! Have been planning a build for crested geckos but couldn’t figure out the door situation! Thanks for sharing!
It looks great, like everything else you've done!
Meanwhile, I'm watching the video and all I want is the list of measurements for both versions so I can get all of the wood cut lmao. Great design, and I'd love to recreate it.
Luckas Silver measurements just depend on how wide and tall you’re making your enclosure.
Different animals have different requirements
I love your plywood enclosures
wow man. Didn't know you were such a good wood worker.
What an amazing job you've done on these. Excellent work and great video.
Wow that's a lot of work and probably an epic fail for me but well worth the try!
Excellent video, really enjoyed watching the whole build! You are so talented and creative thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this awesome video! I'm hoping to make a diy enclose around forty gallons so I'm just going around RUclips watching all the diy enclosures.
One day… i’ll build one (or more)
Can you make a list of everything you used? I want to make something simular for my frogs and leopard geckos.
I am going to try it this summer!
These enclosures have turned out so pretty! I don't think I'd have the diy skills to build something like those😔
For a ball python I once had I just bought a nice second hand dresser drawer and plexiglass to fit the front. I unscrewed and cut out all the drawer brackets and an entry access on the side. Drill small holes in the plexiglass for ventilation and to attach to the wood, hope this helps.
This is way easier than I thought it would be but still will be a challenge for my mediocre wood working skills
King of DIY!
Love the video keep making them
Great job
Love how they turned out
Nice job. Can't wait to see the geckos in it!
Me too!

Since this was 6 years ago, what would’ve you done differently now. Are there better products, for example
Countersink those screw holes bro, your attention to detail is incredible & I think countersinking will just finish it off entirely!
What a great build. I've watched the large version as well, they really look great! Wish I had the tools and materials to make something like this. Great job
wow- you did that...
Awww man, you hyped so much with that build but than i saw the cost of the epoxy..... I kinda knew because i'm into fish but that really suck...
dude your awesome! you really have skills. biopod who? your in closures and reptile room is so classy. mine looks like a industrial experiment
Lol! Mine don't self regulate though, so they got me on that haha.
You should start your own custom build enclosure business online
How much did this build cost? I'm just wondering if it's cheaper to build it yourself or just buy an enclosure
cheaper to build one. but it depends somewhat on the materials.
Now Adays just buy
This is great and very beautiful, can anybody give me an estimate of about how much this costs?
Nice instructions steps👍👍👍

Thank you. I used aluminum screen, so heat lamps can go right in without issue.
Ur awesome at building these tanks u should pre build them and ship them but Custumer seal and finish the inside and out like a premise diy kit
I love your videos!!! Thanks so much!! I’ve gotten a few ideas. Is it possible for a list of products you used please? Also, considering heat, moisture, humidity and misting, is this safe for a chameleon enclosure? Thanks so much!!

Wow great work and wish half the younger generation would take a leaf from your book
Can you make a shopping list on what products you used/need to build.
This would be great so I can replicate this

I'd put green tree pythons in there.
I was curious what some coffee grounds might do to a terrarium - I've used leftover grounds for my vegetable garden with great success, but was wondering if you've ever tried with your plants?
I have not tried it, but I suspect that in high volume it would cause more issues than anything due to the acidity.
Almost 100K
Amazing video and skill. Very nicely done. Could you tell me about how heavy this enclosure was once finished?
jeez knew i shoulnt of skippe wood working in school lol

awesome vid! may i ask, what did you use for lighting? concerned with the humidity in the enclosure and heat that may accumulate at the top portion. thank you!
cool
Your awesome 😁
Hey man I know you prob won’t see this but would you recommend epoxy or liquid rubber for carnivorous plant (very humid) terrarium
I will make a 100g plywood tank for my bearded dragon
How do you reach enough air circulation in this enclosure?
Could this be done simply by repurposing a cabinet and have you ever done that if not you should do a video of that making a terrarium cabinet out of a small hutch
Im planing to buy a crested gecko but im wondering if i should do a tank with fake plants or a planted vivarium. I have never owned a gecko before and this would be my first. What should i choose? Somone pliz responde i need help..:/

Very good video! What kind of lights did you use? And what would you recommend for a pretty tall vivarium, 36 inch?
Neeeeed this, but for a cornsnake/kingsnake/milk snake
loved every second of the video! is it posible for you to make one but for ants? Hope you cam let me know!:)
I wouldn't make a plywood tank for ants, but I could do a DIY formicarium at some point.
Just got a king snake and am building him a DIY terrarium of my own. Is there a list of materials you used for this? Lovely build.
Question, when you go outside to build, do you ever have people or neighbors outside ask questions?
Why do you need the wood glue
Wow two years later same question…what apoxy did you use?
Could you possibly produce a PDF of all the sizes of wood that you used and the cuts so that would be easier to put together for somebody watching a video? Also what was the total cost for you
Could you attempt making a Terrarium (closed or open) with carnivorous plants?
