  • Route 66 goes through the southeast edge of Kansas and is only 13 miles long. But within those 13 miles and 3 small towns, there are still plenty of interesting things to check out. Did you know the movie Cars got inspiration from a tow truck in Galena, Kansas?

Such a good song! I use it a lot in my videos. Good b-roll clips!

Thanks! Yeah I've heard that one a lot. It's the only time I've used it but it's a good one!

In the video the International truck closest to the Cars on the Route building was the inspiration for Tow Mater. Because of copywrite laws that truck is known as "Tow Tater". Don't forget to stop at Nelson's Old Country Store in Riverton where there is a big supply of Route 66 collectables. JB

Yeah there is so many great Route 66 things along this short stretch of road. I’ll definitely get over to Nelson’s next time I’m in the area!

Would you do a video on what brought you to Kansas and to WSU? Curious and always interesting to hear what leads people on their journeys through life.

I’ve had a few people suggest I do a Q&A. I guess that’s a thing when you get to the 10k subscriber mark. I try to not make myself be the subject of these videos. I enjoy just being the person relaying the info about what’s most interesting- these small towns. But if I can do it in a way that doesn’t come off like “LOOK AT ME!” then maybe I’ll do it sometime haha.

I understand and can appreciate your humble nature. Kansas has a tendency to get a "bad wrap" at times. I think it's a great place to live and work. And there are some pretty interesting places to see, especially if you're willing to take roads less traveled.

A while ago I had an idea to do a video about the positives and negatives of living in Kansas. As a transplant from Ohio I have some perspective that people who have always lived here doesn’t always consider.

Living elsewhere does provide a different perspective. Born and raised here, I left, moving to much larger cities in other states. Never did I ever think I'd return. But I now appreciate being back and my travels through Kansas. I'm lucky that work takes me on the road! And, I've enjoyed the places you reveal that I haven't heard of. Makes me frequently take a different path. Thank you for that.

That’s awesome! I hope to be able to do that in Ohio too (explore more not move).
