      @OfTwoLands : This may be a dumb question, but does the 6:5 mode require anamorphic lenses? will spherical lenses work? and be the same ratio?

    Hi Flo, just wondering what your Davinci resolve process looks like? What’s the resolution of the timeline and how do you de-squeeze the footage, and what is the export resolution? Just having a-little trouble with mine! Any help is greatly appreciated! 🙏

    • @TonyInEstonia
      @TonyInEstonia 10 месяцев назад

      Hey. I'm not sure why he put info, that he filmed at 4838 x 4032 resolution. Cause there is 4832 x 4032 (Anamorphic 6:5) only. So anyway. You shoot with 4832 x 4032 (Anamorphic 6:5) resolution. Then Timeline setting set to 4832 x 2240. And then, in Edit tab click on Inspector -> Transform. Unlink X and Y Zoom. And put to X Axis only your squeeze factor (in this case 1.800), Delivery settings you can leave 4832 x 2240 also. And... That's it :) P.S. You can download his samples (in the description) and try. Me personally, tried with same camera and lenses (Great Joy) with flow above, same result. Good luck

    Gorgeous footage Flo, sooo cinematic. Such a great pairing and lovely grade. 50mm is a great length - wide enough to be able to give context, but also feels nice and tele for the close shots. Looks tack sharp too.

    Can you say more about your views on compression settings? When would you choose to use less than 8:1 (ie 5:1 or 3:1 etc) compression? I'm seeing a lot of georgious footage at this sort of compression, and wondering in use on a real project what proportion or type of shots would need the higher quality compression rates. THanks.

    This camera is so close to being phenomenal. This looks really good except there are some moments of very apparent rolling shutter wobble. I wish it was a faster readout or even better- a global shutter! It still looks really good and should be an excellent tool, but something is immersion breaking about seeing these truly majestic shots and then an occasional slow rolling shutter wobble

      I now finally have both the lens and the camera and Film Convert…. Excited to test everything out this weekend…
      So, you can preview directly on the built in screen, correct? And it’s not best to do full frame open gate? It’s best to do the Anamorphic mode?
      And do you use the halation add-on for film convert/is that necessary for these or other results?

    I like the color and the quality. I hate the stabilization on it. The cinematic look and feel is ruined by the shaky images. Even an Iphone 14 Pro max can do a better job to keep it stable and smooth. This is why i just cant buy a camera like this. It makes it look cheap and not ok for me. Like i said i love the image quality, lighting, and effort but when i see unstable images like this I just have to cringe. Nice job on filming though and color correction.

    Thanks for sharing the beauty...from shot choices, to understanding the lighting, the time of day, framing, many little things you do well here. Yes, the camera has great color science, the lens has its own character, the variable ND matte box gives you flexibility on depth of field, but what I see is a series of intentional choices that are the result of understanding what you are doing, and how you want to convey what you are imagining. Post production looks great and no one feels the cuts, they just flow with the music. Gear is a tool, and these are great tools...but you have the other things going on here that most do not realize. I have 3 smallhds (702 Touch, Focus 7, and Focus 5) and all of them preform perfectly with my Sony cams and LUTs but with BM it's always pretty off for me. Was hoping you may have a solution

    Can someone tell me why I should buy this camera and not the Panasonic Lumix DC-S5IIX? Serious question, they seem so similar, with the Panasonic having image stabilization.

    • @Breonnick
      @Breonnick Год назад +1

      Kind of hard answer. It depends on what you are shooting.
      Are you shooting content on par of jack septiceye and most other youtubers who are filming them selfs in there home infront of there computer?
      If so for the love of god dont get this camera. Get something with autofocus.
      Are you going to be making cinematic short films and wanna go balls deep into color grading? The Black magic cameras are a good choice.
      Because of RED's Patent Trolling most cameras at this price point has to shoot in raw via a External HDMI device that can set you back a good couple of hundred.
      Some Camera company's have worked around this by making there own raw codec but there usually cameras like the Arri alexa. But Black Magic actually made there own Raw codec that works effortlessly with Davinci Resolve A editing program made by the same company that alot of editors are jumping ships to from Adobe.
      Between it's Clean AF easy to nevigate UI. Anamorphic settings Internal Dual Native Iso and not fucking over selling the camera's actual dynamic range like other companys do (Looks at sony) It's a good CINEMA CAMERA with a Robust work flow for it's price.
      But it's not a good camera for content creation. It has it's flaws but it depends on what you wanna shoot and how you want to shoot.
      If you wanna run and gun and make Blogs and related content videos. Get the Panasonic Lumix DC-S5IIX.
      If you want to shoot videos usually reserved for Red Cameras but dont have the money for a RED kamodo, ursa mini 12k, Or FX 6 or you need something as powerful but smaller. Get one of these.

      @@Breonnick What a wonderfully detailed answer, this helped me a lot. And I think others can benefit from this too. In my case my choice will probably be the Blackmagic.

    • @Breonnick
      @Breonnick Год назад

      @@misterdutch2853 I do wanna point out if you do go black magic regardless if it's this Full frame or the older models. The battery life is ass. I'd argue it's these cameras worse draw backs. A good solution is a cage and Dummy batterys. There some dummy batterys that take NP batterys and some that take V mount batterys. V mount batterys are expensive and chunky but last a long time and NP are smaller increase the battery life about 2 hours.

    Definitely full size sensor gives it a more organic look no doubt... I still think that having internal ND's is also important specially if shooting solo, that is why I think the previous model is still a better choice. I was hoping the new one would have 4K 120... No idea why they keep on avoiding that. probably not to cannibalized the other pro models. Great footage as always! cheers!
