This is the most watchable premodern magic broadcast I've seen. The only thing that could make it better is to have a time-based pop-up of any recently played or actively relevant cards on screen to make it even easier to keep up with the game state in the average viewer's mind. Also always love seeing sligh sneak out a win
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoy it as I intend to keep this series going! You're not the first to mention having some kind of pop-up for played cards and while I agree it's a great idea, it's a little out-of-scope for me at the moment as it's proven to be a race to get all of these rounds edited before the next month's tournament. It's definitely something I'll look into in the future though and see if I can find a good way to include easily!
@@Heavy_Play Completely understandable and is something that “would be nice” but absolutely not a necessity, especially if it requires an asinine amount of tedious editing. Either way I’m looking forward to watching the future tournaments. The commentary is super easy listening and recorded nicely as well. Good luck putting them together! You already do a fantastic job.
Insanely high quality live stream. Love it what you did with it. I wonder if both players forgot Oath of Druids being symmetrical in G2. Playing out Oath TWICE against a mogg fanatic that can get itself out of the way is daring!
Thank you! That is a great point, I think Nate realized it at the end but at that point he already had it in the bag. Good thing for Marshall to keep in mind for future matchups though!
Nate missed some dmg? g1 Attack with fanatic the turn it killed spirit of the night (the last time lol), then attacking with lavamancer into the empty board. g2 nate can kill the animated ball lightning with fanatic after blocking the wurm, firing the seal to the player instead (1 extra)
Also could've placed a Mogg Fanatic or even the Grim Lavamancer with Show and Tell rather than the Seal of Fire- same CMC but 1 more damage from an attack from the Mogg Fanatic.
Great stream so far, and great match up to start with. Sligh is my main deck so I’m always rooting for the red player, but Reanimator is hard to dislike. Great start game one too. Definitely need some big 6 sided dice each for life counters. Or a smart phone app. Sligh player needed to attack with Fanatuc and Lavamancer for that extra damage. I was worried that they might end up a couple points off and be facing down Spirit for a third time. Pitching the extra Oath at the start of game two would have telegraphed the sideboard tech. Also wouldn’t it have made sense to sac the fanatic to get an oath trigger: imagine if it hit another Ball Lightning? But good stuff, easy sub for me.
notice that at the end of game 2, the sligh player could choose to not block the reanimated ball lightning because it was only a 5/1 trample due to the effect of the -1/0 the animate dead did. He can win the two games with only one life ^^
Sadly reanimator in premodern has two big factors that hinder it. 1) Entomb is banned and 2) Creatures are not an auto-win when they enter, unlike what happens in other formats where you have Emrakul/Griselbrand/Atraxa/Archon
Watching this with some friends and when the guy blocked with his Mogg and then didn't shoot the ball with it people were freaking out lol.
low skill
@@Fabregas200788 I thought of it too, but sometimes even the obvious play just doesn't cross your mind, esp in tournaments. At least for me.

The game was much better on these terms. Cards do 1 thing a 6/5 beast was incredible.

The Gel hoodie tho 👌

That's a nice catch! One of the best things about being able to watch a game back is seeing better lines like that!
Hey thanks for the catch on both those lines! I was actually kinda nervous being in the spotlight so, definitely missed some things there!
He could of just took the Ballightning and gone to 1.

That was so much fun to watch. Subscribed!

Red player forgot to trigger double oath, that hurts me
Those are the hardest to read d20s ever made
Portland, Maine or Oregon?
Oregon!
@@Heavy_Play oh that’s awesome. I used to live there. Which care shop runs Premodern?
We don’t play at any of the local shops, but our meetup details are on the discord linked in the video description!
@@Heavy_Play that’s awesome. If I ever get back into playing, I try to travel that way once a year, I’d be interested in playing.
I see premodern, I click like and subscribe.
Welcome and thank you!
"does ball cost 5?"
Well sligh player needs to get some practice for sure. No reason to kill spirit in his own tour even next one was not good enough
Nate had that game won easily. Was wrong to kill the Spirt, and he also didn't understand how Show and Tell worked :(
He should have ignored the Spirit and send all damage to the face for the win
