That's one thing that setz Tony apart from the rest is his incredible feel... doesn't play fast to play fast... but incorporates it into his compositions... as expressions...
This guy is truly amazing, not only he has totally mastered 2 instruments throughout the years (guitar and piano), but also he has show he has a unique style, and at the same time be able to fit into the styles of other guitar players such as Steve Vai
Very cool bumping into this video so many years later after the uploading... I was looking at the guitar... a Peavey Destiny I have a Red one myself, one of the best American made guitars I've played. Still have mine (since 91) and it still rocks... but in dire need of a refretting and my fingerboard is pretty much scalloped from eons of playing it. Hot humbucker, I had to repair the Kahler once. Still play it along side with my Gibson Les Pauls and my modded US Fender Strat VG. Tony had some cool chops back then... but buried under the other "VH-styled" players back then. I think the only instrumental album back then that was semi-mainstream was Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow (RIP)... The companies didn't really promote the instrumental albums as much... maybe Roadrunner was moreso... Thanks Uploader, for keeping this video up.
I absolutely love this piece! I found it, and Tony, by accident, back around 2000/2 or so, downloading video binaries off of usenet. This tune has the perfect feel for a depressing, moody police/street drama.
Amazing and beautiful solo. Incredible. Covid-permitting, I'll be seeing them in April next year in London. Cannot wait. A newbie and love what I've heard. Thanks. :)
la primera vez que hoy a tony solo conocia a metallica como lo mejor del mundo el ride the ligting esto me costo creer que se podia tocar,su mejor disco m.a.r.s
@ronnieanand DUDE DONT GET ME STARTED ON THAT BUT YEAH THEY AARE GREAT PLAYERS .AND ISTAND BY WHAT I SAID .SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED MORE INFO ON BLACK PLAYERS TO ME. LUV TO TALK ABOUT IT.
@truly11967 You have tons of legendary black guitarists... how come none of them kicked the door for you.... Jimi Hendrix, Almost all the Blues and Jazz Guitarists, Vernon Reid.... I think there are more legendary Black Guitarists than White Guitarists.... This is not any racial comment... just my observation... For me, Black or White or Pink, its still music... Good Guitar playing is Good Guitar playing...
Tony is still my number 2 overall fav guitar player (behind George Bellas) and yes just slightly ahead of Jeff Loomis..athough I wish Tony would get away from Jazz fusion

I agree. This just sounds like any other solo out there.
MacAlpine, not Mcalpine. The former is an American surname, the latter is Scottish or Irish.
@666Goddammit666 Not knocking you,but I don't get your meaning.
Майка-алкоголичка, все по нашему, по народному
Naaa this is Earlie 90´s
That haircut is unforgivable.
