Snow Day! - First ATV Ride On The Lake This Year - Dec.16 2012

- Finally the ice is thick enough so we went out for our first ride of the year on the lake with the Yamaha Grizzly and Kodiak. Also was our first real test ride wearing our Mustang Floater Suits. It was very reassuring to know that we had that extra protection in case we ever went through the ice. Hopefully, we will never have to find out how good they work! Thank you Mustang!

As it turned out, we had a good dump of snow the day before, so we had that to play with also! But, we also had lots of shoveling and snow blowing to do when we got back:(

Every once in a while it will snow but it's kinda rare! I remember one winter it was a blizzard and snowed 20 inches and everything was shutdown. Thanks for the season greetings! Hope you and the rest of the Cubbeezx crew have a Merry Christmas also!!

Our winters are so long and cold that our lakes are usually frozen over by mid December until mid May. 4-5 feet of ice is not unusual. More in places. THanks for watching.

Thank you. I actually have a snow plow but I don't have a bracket for the Grizzly. Not sure if I will ever put it on as I don't have a lot of room to use a snow plow in my driveway. Thanks for watching.

I'm jealous of the snow! I live here on Brier Island in Nova Scotia and we haven't seen any snow yet! I remember even back five years ago when we would get at least 3ft of snow by now no problem! All we get now is just real strong wind and minus 25 temperatures :/

Ya im 1 hour north of barrie in muskoka and were still not frozen yet! Usually were on the ice fishing just before jan 1st on about 4 or 5 inches but like you said no riding on it until mid to late jan. Cheers from Muskoka!

I know for the Grizzly we had to get special mounting brackets. I don't know how good a job they do of keeping the wind off, but they are good at keeping sticks/branches from wacking your hands!
The houses you see are little "ice huts" that people set up to ice fish/have fun during the winter. It has turned into a little village in this one area and people drive to their huts. Some of the huts have satellite tv!! No rules around here...can drive anywhere on the ice and you just have to make sure your hut is off the ice before it melts in the spring! Thanks for watching.

Great video and good idea on wearing floater suits especially early in the season on those lakes . How you like your X-terra I'm running a 06 off road edition and its fantastic .

awesome!! i got a 2010 honda rancher, and my we are thinkin about going trail riding over spring break, but my dad doesnt think that the wheelers can make it through the snow. and theres about as much snow as u guys got ob the trails up here.

Oh, well thats a bit to far for me to travel haha, but I really like the scenery, I may try to travel there sometime I live in Kentucky in the US so it's not too far, and thanks for the reply.
i absolutely love your videos i live in the u.s pennsylvania and we get a few 6-8 inch storms a year and i want to move to a place where there is a lot of snow i cant get enough of playing in the snow i got a snow plow attachment for my Suzuki quad runner 4x4 with the 4 wheel diff lockers and its sooo fun I subscribed and liked!!!

If you get a chance the second weekend in April is the Snirt Run in Northern New York at Barnes Corners. It is on a Staurday. Since I had my 550 Grizzly I have been there every year.

We live in northwestern Ontario halfway between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay
yeah last year we got about 3 inches not much but the 2 years before we got about 2 and half foot each year and some drifts on the hills were about 4 maybe 4 and a half on higher ground

Thanks, i found out that you are allowed to drive on the ice somewhere in Norway, but you has drive precariously and a maximum of 50 km/h near people and 70 km/h alone. Also your insurance does not cover any damage because in Norway driving on ice is considered "Reckless" ...

Great video like always!! Do you have hand and thumb warmers? I live in Montana and those are a must for winter riding, also a winshield keeps the wind off you when riding.
at less you guys still have the quads to get out and ride on snow days and enjoy the trails some times you can have just as much fun on a quad in the snow as the snowmobile
You bet Gary! We really do enjoy getting out on the tracks in the winter and exploring places we can't get to in the summer!

I got it to work. Great footage as always. were your Mustang suits heavy? How well did you guys stay dry and warm? They look pretty well made. Please try them in summer time to see how well you can move around and float. Ill remind you then! Thanks Cubbee and CK!!

I hope to get some snow early next year so I can get some good GoPro footage. We rarely get more than a few inches and our chances are in a short window between Jan-March. Cool video though!

Nice video when the next one and I`m buying a 2013 Kodiak 450 eps. And I went out to my lake and there was over flow on baptist lake and my dad he pined throw it and I turned in the middle of it and when I got back boy there was ice backed in my track.

Like I always say. Any quad is better than none. Try to find one in nice condition at a good price if you are looking at a used one.
