Thanks for this! Felt inspired to focus on my homebased career. I know its going to be hard at first but I know I'll get used to it eventually. Thank so much. Subscribed just now.
Hi Jessica, Thank you for your experience as a VA. I'm new in VA job, and you inspire me so much :). I quit at my traditional job. I decide to be a VA, because I'm interested on it.
Apliance Sucipto hey, I’m thinking of doing the same and was wondering if you could give an update on if you’re still doing it An was it worth leaving your traditional job??
I will get round to recording an update at some point! I have so many things to keep covered at the moment it's a bit tricky and I'm not the vloggy kind to record myself the whole day :D
A former experienced assistant switching gears, going virtual due to the lockdown as a means to improve professional prospects, you mentioned something about coaching for newbies. Is it still available? If so, would you mind giving a few more details? Thank you in advance for sharing!
Good question! I had a support community but didn't do any formal training, no. It was more down to figuring out how to run a business and then how to get the job done.
Training is truly helpful but depend on the type of services you provide and to whom, you want to make sure that you don't set yourself up to bit off more than you can chew.
Your pay depends on your skills, your experience and the type of clients you are going after. A more seasoned Admin Assistant/VA like myself can charge more.
I like how realistic you are about the time commitment. I have watched a lot of videos where it feels like someone is trying to sell me something and it feels like a scam. I am going through school so I'm looking to just pick up a couple of clients and get a little extra money on the side.
Thanks Elizabeth! I for sure don't want to make it sound like it's going to take nothing and just happen on it's own. It does take commitment and effort, and then keeping up with marketing even when you're not taking on new clients, so that your name stays around all the time. And I don't want to BS anyone about it. I did a video on building things up on top of a job, same would go for school. Just be careful when it's going too well, and you're going to start wondering why you're getting a formal education again... :D
The main issue with doing that is that there is confidential client information around! I do a lot of work inside email service providers etc. but I will think of tasks I can show that don't involve that, it won't be live though!
Hey Brittany! I never thought of it that way to be honest, I just made connections with people and they ended up being international and we ended up working together. It's really no limit! x
Or you can go to a website and put your resume on them. They will reach out to companies and you just have to make sure you choose "work-at-home" jobs. I am a virtual admin assistant and thats the route i took. I get paid 20/h.
You can either just take the break -like give them notice ofc that you’re having ur holiday from this date to this date, or u could do extra work the week before and after the holiday to make up for it
@@awakenedmemories9 Just do it! Age is not a reflection on what you can achieve. Let me record a video on this, I had never considered age to be a reason why people are not taking action! xx
Hi Jessica. I enjoyed watching your videos. I just quit my bank job and I want to become a VA. Can I start by working for you? You can give me a demo job and assess my skills.
@@svsendy Hi Jessica. Good to hear from you. I left my bank job because I was saturated. No new learning for me there. But it was a well paying job. But I took the risk of leaving my job because I want to try something new now.
Rekha Sanjay I wish you the absolute best in your career journey! And major props for your bold decision. There was a deep calling in you to seek elsewhere, so I'm excited for the doors that are opening up for you! 😊👏
Hey Danita, still supporting entrepreneurs and getting back to helping others as well! I took a break from my community when I moved countries/dealt with losing my Dad!
Hahaha well emails are one of the biggest time sucks! And people don't realise until they start to actively track it. 10 mins here, 10 mins there. And the constant task switching and distraction doesn't help.
Hello Jessica. This question may sound silly, but can a virtual assistant job be a part time job? The reason I am asking is I currently work front office at an ophthalmologist office. I love my job, but I was wondering if it is at all possible to do something in addition to my current job, that is online and part time. I’m sorry if this is a silly question to ask, but I was just curious. 🙂
Not a silly question at all! I used to work full time as a manager in a daycare and then started to build things up along the side, so for sure you can do it in addition to your job, it just takes focus and commitment. I did a separate video on building the business in addition to your job, so you may find that helpful! x
Thanks Tanisha, what specifically would you like to know? It's changed a lot over the years. I will record an updated version for you. I can't always show the work because of client confidentiality which is something you need to be aware of. xx
Going by your videos you seem to like going out to concerts? I love traveling, so it's pretty good to be flexible. My Dad died last week, so I can go home for 3 months and support my Mum and just take all my work with me and it's a huge relief
Great wisdom and tips!
She was ahead of the game.
Yes
This has been what am looking for but thank you for being very realistic and real, this helps me to plan myself better.

Thank you this was very helpful and informative 👍👍
Thanks Diontae! Let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to talk about, I'm always trying to add new things x

Excellent video. How do you find your clients?
What type of educational background do you need to have as a VA? Certification, Etc
None! There are certainly things that may be helpful but in general you can just get stared with what you know.
