VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Nick and Raychel are from Canada and have traveled the world with backpacks and a camera. Once returning to home ground, they started creating their new life in a DIY 2011 retired ambulance conversion. Although this tiny home wasn't designed for major boondocking, they have everything they need for the open road and exploring capabilities. In three months and under 10k USD, they went from living out of bags to an entirely comfortable rig!

Thank you so much for touring our ambo! This was so much fun.
Our pleasure! Thank you for your time to film with us!
I think you two did a great job 👏 👍

Thank you for showing us your home. Greetings from Australia and best wishes and safe travels.
I saw Lil Peep ❤️ Great tour and a great home.
Love how real this is! "This doesn't work... we don't like this... we guesstimated wrong..." Finally folks like me 😆
as someone who worked inside ambulances for years, I must say you did an amazing job.
Thank you!
I'm really concerned that he cannot stand up straight in his own home :( Great build nonetheless!
This is stunning!!! Y'all should b mad proud! I've seen a ton, a TON of builds n did my own n urs is badazz n really cozy!!! ✌🏼🧡
Thank you!
This is a wonderful build, an ambulance a great choice! The best part is that you jumped right in and just did it! You should be very proud! A lot of the fun would be having an "evolving" build. Live with something for a while to learn what works, as it is, or figure out a better way and change it as you can. The tile stickers and the art grid are so stylish, the folding table is a perfect choice, and the curtains you selected look good, so instead of searching for blackout curtains, maybe just add a second layer to what you have, if you need heavier curtains.
I live in a toy hauler and keep most of my clothes folded in soft baskets. At first I thought I'd go crazy with just enough hanging space for a few items, but now I love it. I've improved my folding skills over time, so now they're less wrinkled in general, but to unwrinkle a garment, try spritzing it with a bit of fabric refresher then gently give it a tug from opposite corners. It's quick and easy.
Happy Trails! 💗
This is my favorite ambulance conversion💜
Thank you!
Love the sticker tiles! Nice build!
Keep a small spay bottle of water (& a hanger or two) for wrinkled clothing. Add a smidge of your favorite softener
And cargo nets appear to be useful (I watch a lot of these videos. I'd like to have a skoolie some days)
Thanks for this tip!
Love the width of your ambu/home very cozy layout. This rig is so bohemian & simplistic! Try some L track for hanging misc. gear.
Very cozy and cute! Stay safe!
I love your tiny home and you did an amazing job. Travel safe.
Really like the build. Curious about the mileage on the Ambulance? Motor, make, size, gas, deisel?
THANKS
Chevy Express 3500 truck front, V8 6.0L gas engine - we get about 450km to a tank (about 300 miles) it's a pig on gas and we knew that the $ we saved buying it, we'd ultimately have to pay for in gas - but these engines are very reliable imo and we love it
I believe you can add a 3000w inverter to your system. The AC wattage will be higher than the DC wattage that supplies it
Our friends have a similar setup in their ambulance and added a 2000w inverter so I think you're right!
Beautiful!! Nice build and from BC! I would lose the stove and sink and go for more counter. Propane or butane stove, at least you can use those. Super nice home on wheels, good job!!
Totally, would love to redo that entire counter when we have money and time!
Compare this build to you new one in 2 years. You already know what you want to change and you can redo it. Have fun. Thanks for sharing.
Exactly!
If you cannot stand in it, it is a big minus. It would be nice for one person, but not two. I would always like a separate toilet space with possibility of a shower.
Couldn’t convert that cupboard at the foot of the bed into hanging space? Take out he bottom panel and put in heavy rods (or even install drawer pulls) to the top and hang clothes straight on rather than the usual way, just very little of the clothes will hang down much if you get hangers that have very little drop or replace larger hanger ends with small hooks. I have seen that done. Maybe put storage on the wall for those items in the cupboard. Your build is pretty but it looks like it travels really loudly and very heavy? Gas mileage?
Great job, enjoy!
Good job, you would never think it was an ambulance! Maybe a taller ceiling would of made it perfect
Whose willing to live Canada. Not me.
So cosy, love it
It's decent just like for a vacation or a weekend trip
Y'all got the most comfy van I've seen yet ☺️😁😄❤️
Aw thank you!
That's beautiful ❤️
Love it....it's gorgeous....
You guys did a great job ☮️✌️
You should just get a bucket and bags. Use some cedar sawdust to put in the bag and then just throw the bag away.
I live in Montréal I love this so much
Super cute.... I would have really liked to seen the storage by her front door A Little Closer pocket. You couldn't really see the shoe rack the front of her hanging baskets organizer
Why would you want to cook bent over?
I like your build
Great job
💕 thank you for sharing it's gorgeous and besides it may be possibly to raise the roof or I've seen 1 couple since her husband was so tall they put in just like a skylight in the places he really wanted to stand up straight and after over a year it was well sealed and great cheap solution for him 💕 just wanted to share again love your build it's amazing!! Almost forgot they were able to get the pop-up or dome (added several inches he was like over 6' 4 or 5 ) went to a junk yard something like that that had recked RVs at the place I believe that the guy just gave it to him but it was just like brand new
Pretty, but I would need a bathroom!
Beautiful home , 🏡 💕
Love it 🥰
and this one time, at curved spine camp
A buddy of mine did the same to an old ambulance.
Raise that roof! 😉
I love the tiles. You mentioned they were stickers, wow! Where did you find them?
I got them on Amazon!!
where did you find all of your tiny furniture
You should get at least 800 amp hours of lithium batteries and a 6,000-watt inverter; that way you never have to worry, believe me, it is worth the cost! 💡
Sooo true!
I’m starting to notice that every vanlifer use the sentence “ I find myself… I find myself doing seeing feeling…” what’s up with that lol
Amazing rig! Though, at this point when I first saw him stooping inside his own rig, I was thinking one thing: would it be hard to raise the roof of that thing, or would it compromise the framework of the interior since ambulances are built to certain specs originally? I understand that people can raise the roof of DIY RV busses, but is it possible to do so in a former ambulance?
Yes people have done this in other rigs before!!
IKEA have blackout curtains 🇸🇪🙏🏻
Why not do more research on power needs for induction stoves ? Pretty common knowledge with even a cursory search on You Tube and definitely explained on lots of van tours how much power they need (more than you would think).
Lots of wasted space above the fridge too ... maybe a few drawers or a cupboard
Newbie mistake ...
The interior looks pretty enough (for the all important social media photos) ... but I wonder how practical contact paper will be on your cooking and kitchen prep area ...
Nice aesthetic ... just a few functionality issues like the tiny sink. Have you researched any van builds online ? So many discuss the practicality of a deep and large sink.
We have learned A LOT since living on the road for 1.5 years in this thing and given it was our very first van build, we think we did a pretty good job and will take the lessons into our next build!
What a horrible person you are ..
Looks like this is only for weekend camping.
We've been living in it full time since 2020!
You need to scrap that whole water system and go with an electric pump, you can dump the gray water straight out that truck!
We love our foot pump and would recommend one to anyone starting budget van life. We’d make a lot of changes to our van, but we’d choose the foot pump a million times over. We followed the setup from Exploring Alternatives after a lot of research and LOVE it! 🥰
Looks great! Call me when you need a chiropractor
you need to up your battery game.
We do!
These ambulances creep me out. I understand why some people choose them as they already have power in them, but too much baggage 🧳 comes with them...all the sick/injured people who died in them. Then I remember how may times my mother was taken to the hospital in one.....I can't look at one, let alone live in one. This is a nice conversion though....just not 4me.
PS....I wouldn't bother with a MASSIVE sink....just keep the small one as a bathroom sink and get a collapsible basin or two for kitchen stuff like washing dishes, ect.....you then empty the basin into the small sink. Works 4me.
I agree. I couldn't live in one thinking of how many possibly passed in it.
I disagree.
I'm willing to bet that for every person who dies in an ambulance, at least 10x that number were saved. An ambulance is a blessing, not a curse.
Walmart has blackout curtains. 😉
Please try to increase the height of your beautiful tiny home because of your back
Nice build, but for 2 people that love to cook that sink is useless
YEP! We hate that sink with a burning passion lol. First thing we will upgrade!
the spirits that died in this ambulance must be so confused right now
Woohoo one for the tater
Blackout curtains at LOWES.
You removed everything of value like the aluminum cabinets that are so pricey, light, functional and replaced them with no value wood builds that are far less functional.
Putting a stove where there is no window for example, makes no sense. The grease goes everywhere. Huge fixed bed when you could have made a slat bed over the long bench. Now this blocks the double doors - what a waste of double doors. Lost access to the back of van.
Replacing aluminum cabinets with amateur build of wood cabinets was the single biggest mistake. Makes no sense at all and very disappointing.
The one good thing about this build is the easy access to the electrical panel but it is a rat's nest like you said. This should be cleaned up and labeled neatly, But it is accessible which is a good thing.
No shower, no wardrobe, no decent storage - this is a poorly thought out build.
An induction stove is all the rage and the most limiting factor sucking up all the battery power. A gas stove like Camp Chef Blind Ranger II would give you 17,000 BTU power per burner and zero battery use.
Sink is a toy sink.
Beautiful job Jesus loves you repent turn to Jesus
Dude, you can't even stand up straight! 🙄 😒 😑 🤦
Can't believe the amount of nasty comments on the build ..its not yours ..untreal ..people trying to sound superior.. rude as ..
Very poorly built, no thought at all went into this build; it's a shame because you can do a lot with an ambulance?
We love our build and a lot of thought went into our first build! Do you live in a van? We have been living in this since 2020 :)
Wow, @Manny Perez. You are such an a$$. Keep your nasty to yourself. What they did is amazing! If you don't like it, scroll on to something else. What fabulous build out have you done, old fart?
No Shower, gross. There is more than enough room for a shower in there.
A Lousy setup overall!
What is your problem, old fart? You are like a butthead stalker! Go pound sand.
Sorry not impressed i have seen ambulance 🚑 build out n it has lots of things
You’ve done everything absolutely wrong. No planning went into any of this. I’ll be damned if I’m buying a unit I can’t even stand up in. You’ve wasted your money.
Your kitchen is a bust
