I would have shipped too. I was told, though, that if the buyer sends an offer and you accept, they are not able to cancel. It's assumed that they were intentional in their purchase. idk if that's right, I've never wanted to cancel a purchase I sent an offer on that was accepted!

    • @beckyparkco

The buyer has three hours to cancel the sale from the time of purchase. That's why people always say wait 3 hours before you ship something out :)

It was my understanding that if a buyer purchases something outright, they have three hours to cancel. But if it was an offer, they cannot cancel it. The seller has to do it. I just always do it for them…& then block them.

Hi Becky, Rich here. when it comes to slow sales, it's not you. It's the economy. people have cut back on spending. Clothes is the number one thing they cut back on. The feds raised the rates the other day, which means prices in some sectors will rise again. I have not had slow sales like this since I started selling. I also observe shoppers and their buying habits when I am out shopping. As a professional trained observer I have been seeing people putting less items inside their hand baskets and shopping carts. I have also observed people buying less back to school clothing. They are purchasing the bare essentials.

re:consigning with co-worker - keep detailed records of every piece she gives you on a separate spreadsheet designated for this purpose. Include: the date she gave you the piece; what it was; the date & location you donated it; what you priced it at; the date you listed it; the price it sold for; what type of sale/discount you offered & why; your costs of business to sell it; total profit for the item; how much you paid her; when you paid her; method of payment. ---- I know this sounds like a lot, but once you set up the spread sheet and if you stay on top of entering in all the info with each sale of her items, YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF when she starts asking questions. Red flag - she told you there'd be lots of Aviator Nation and that was the primary reason you said yes....but so far she hasn't given you any. Also, Most people think they are easy going, and say 'this is no problem, that's no problem' at the outset, but when they get less $ than they anticipate, they start to question things that they previously said was no problem. You will want to manage her expectations, right away🙂 Sorry for the long winded lecture just to say: basically, CYA (cover your ass)📝 write it all down... including the arrangement. date it. sign it. give her a copy. It's easier for everyone if everything is recorded. Wishing you HUGE success💐

Buying outright is always the best bet. The way I look at it is, I am selling something to make money, when I have to pay fees am I really making anything? Is it worth my time and effort for little ROI? is the questions you have to ask yourself as a reseller.

Keep a record of everything they give you and what you ultimately do with it. This way if, down the road, there are any questions, you can back up your memory with actual records. People are funny about their clothes - they think that the items are worth waayy more than they usually are worth! I have a great friend who loves to thrift for me. Sometimes (most times) she hits home runs, but every now and then.... not so much. Having records of everything keeps our friendship on track.

Consignment...brings back some not so good memories. When I first started out I thought ok...I can take on some consignment. I took some clothes from a man I played poker with . Very nice mens clothes...about 10 pieces. I found out two had flaws, well 3 did. but 2 I could not list. The 3rd was a jacket I did list. I did not normally sell mens clothing much so it took me about 2 years to get through his 10 items! And he was happy with his cut (hes well off so didn't really need the $)...but I didn't like it. I did not like that I had to cut the net profit 50%. It was a lot of work, mostly the tracking/paperwork part. And I also began selling some things from my neighbor. I gave her the money along with a spreadsheet of the sales. Well her daughter had "questions" about the spreadsheet...and sorry but I was offended! I had given her even more than what I told her I would and her daughter questions it? NOooo. I was nice, but said ok here you go, and I brought back all her unsold stuff. I did not tell her, but I am not going to have my integrity questioned by someone I've never met LOL. People are funny about money. This stuff was stuff that had been sitting in her garage for years, she wanted it gone, but did not know how to get rid of it. Well, I helped her with that, gave her money which SHE was happy with but the daughter somehow felt it wasn't enough. (Her stuff had very low STR as lots of competition) So, that is my experience and it sounds like you got a lot of comments from others. It's a no for me. I have one item right now I agreed to sell for a good friend who moved back east. It is worth $1200 or more...and I haven't listed it yet, been afraid..I need to take the leap soon! It's been 3 years now. I am afraid, what if I get scammed, what if what if...plus it is BIG and hard to photograph. So, we shall see. He's been patient but it bugs ME that I have not done it for him yet. And that is why I prefer to go get my own inventory LOL. Good luck!

Funny Ivivva story here too...someone asked for more detail about a listing I had in my closet for the Full Sprint Pleated Ombré skort. I answered, they purchased on an offer. It was delivered/accepted and I got my money. 2 weeks later I received it back in the mail with original packaging in tact with 'return to sender' written on it. I reached out to the customer but never heard anything. I held on to it for a little bit thinking I might hear something from Poshmark but when I heard nothing, I listed it again. I am so sorry Becky I have one more comment I’m old-school so I talk a lot anyway I do want to comment that oddly enough like a few people say but hello July has been my best sales month and I do have to say I only started in February but to date, July has been my best month and August is off to a great start as well. I think it’s because I’m learning a lot more and changing things up. My eBay account has been around since the year 2000 and I have a 100% rating on eBay however me and my husband only use eBay for the occasional buying or selling of an item here or there I have not started selling on eBay yet for my clothing business just because the shipping is super confusing to me. I sell on Poshmark and shipping is super simple so once I figure out how to simplify shipping on eBay I will probably start Crosslisting there as well, I did start Depop for items that are appealing to young people but are you only sell like one item a month there and I will get better at that as well I just really have to learn how to speed up my listing process and learn how to manage my inventory system

I am one minute and 50 seconds into your video and I just want to say I always love your positivity and your honesty so thank you for that and I wanted to comment that you have a full-time job as a teacher. Sidenote teachers need to be appreciated more and teachers need to be paid a lot more the fact that actors on strike and they make millions and millions of dollars for a movie is ridiculous to me. I mean talk to me when you’re a teacher like Becky I mean you are a teacher full-time and you are pretty much a full-time seller you think that you are a part-time seller but no, I believe you are full-time because you sell way more items than me. Your numbers are way better than me and I do this full-time so all I can say is first of all I can’t thank you enough for the great work that you do as a teacher you get absolutely no money even if you are getting a good salary as a teacher, you need to be making what actors make this is ridiculous that teachers do not get more money, but I will get off my soapbox because no one wants to hear about this but teachers just need more money. And I love how much time and effort you put into your reselling business and you consider it part time but trust me honey you have two full-time jobs I could never make the sales in the money that you do and you do it all by yourself which makes me feel like a complete loser and that I need to do a lot more education and get myself better because I only have 475 listings I feel like I make less than $100 a week and obviously I’m doing something wrong and I need to fix that somehow anyway thank you for everything that you do. Thank you for all your time and effort and thank you for being a teacher.

It's all about managing the expectations of the person you are selling for and making sure they aren't expecting something unrealistic or quick cash. With that said, I only do consignment for my mom and we split profits 50/50. I think it was rough for a lot of us. Just use every day as an opportunity to get better. You don’t know it, but you’re growing as we speak as a reseller, and you’ll look back at 2023 as the year you learned and grew. I’m rooting for you!

Lol, ALOT of girls/women at my job use waist trainers... Supposedly they swear by them. They prevent you from eating a lot... And they are exactly like the dreaded corsets they wore... you needed someone to lace you up from the back... Way back in the 1700 to 1800s. They do shrink you... Almost looks unnatural...

    • @beckyparkco

Really! That’s helpful to know. I don’t think I’m in a setting where I would see people wearing them in just like, an everyday context.

Thank God July has actually been a good sales month for me 🙌 And God steps in many times when He knows we are going through difficult times & will use people or things (for me it's animals or music) and I believe Ricardo is that one sent to you. Also I'm saying this out of love, but there is power in your words & they speak into your life - you DO deserve that! Don't ever think you don't girl! You are so worthy of much more than you think or know. We ALL are & this is God reminding you of this ❤😉

Thank you for the great videos and honest sincere sales review. Been selling for a few years and July has been my worst month ever. Some people have had excellent sales though so I’m not sure why. Doing all the things we’re supposed to do with decent items but crickets. Do you think this is a sign of things to come or just a slow summer? I hope things pick back up. Wishing you good sales for August Becky!

Hi Becky! Thank you so much these insightful videos. I have not started listing due to finding out through others that reselling has definitely evolved. You just can't sell what is in your house anymore. Customers are looking for high-end goods at low prices. It also seems the market is saturated. I want to focus on fashion and vintage jewelry. I only want to start with one platform. With that being said, what platform would you recommend beginners to start selling on. Thank you for your help.

Hi! Honestly, I feel like although eBay is tough, that would be the best place to sell jewelry. I know some people have success selling jewelry on whatnot as well.

A store where you can take unwanted items you have and they pay you for items they keep by cash or store credit. Most of the time they pay very little & don't take alot of items. Some resellers like going to places like this to get a store credit to buy better inventory. You usually get more if you choose credit over cash😊

and then spoiling it for all of us because next time I go to goodwill I won’t boy for this shirt 4,99z this is hurting all of us . Why you think watches those only resellers? Why are you do not think about the consequences . Crazy

Sales have been slooow but I've slowly started listing on ebay and just made my first sale over there which was great ($150!) until I saw how much they took in fees ($40 bc I promoted it) and realized that if the customer returns it, I'm $40 in the hole with nothing to show for it bc I'm sure they don't give me that back. Plus they're holding my funds for over a week after the customer gets it so kind of rethinking ebay right about now. 🙁
Selling on Ebay is so intimidating that I wish more resellers would do a true beginners guide that covers all the ins and outs of fees, payouts, fund holds, how returns work, shipping etc. Like I'm talking get really specific with every single step and what will happen once you make the sale. I wonder if ebay is just that awful and convoluted that you just have to dive in and experience it like a trial by fire until you feel a little more confident about it. I also learned the hard way that you can't change your shipping label to a QR code once you purchase it and my printer is out of ink so I had to go to the library to print out the label which was fun lol. I'm used to Poshmark just letting you change it easily. Not loving ebay so far which sucks because I know sales are better over there.

My consignment stores never have sales like you describe and they mark up designer and good stuff a lot! I can’t source there. Wish they had sales sometimes. The good thrifts have started marking up decent items to eBay prices. Even goodwill did a price hike as of July 1st. I’m not sure what to do. Especially since sales are sooooooo so slow

You may have to look up where a Goodwill Bins (Outlet) is located near you and maybe make a monthly trip depending on distance. The closest one to me is like 3 hours away but there are two of them in the same area.

    • @heatherronan
      @heatherronan Год назад

That's how the thrift stores are in my area too. And Goodwill never has sales either. I see people in other states say oh this color was 50% off this week at Goodwill and I'm over here in CA like "where the sales at, Goodwill?" Ntm they write all the prices in dry erase marker no matter what it is: wood, cloth, paper, ceramic etc. And they don't write on the bottom either. It's so infuriating finding something great just to realize that they ruined it by writing $4.95 in dark blue marker across the side.

Oh and wanted to add that we do have a couple bins stores but they're in sketchy areas so they're filled with people who are on drugs, homeless, shouting at people walking by and the bins have broken glass mixed in with clothing piles, used underwear, drug needles, and just general piles of dirty laundry people have donated. And the people standing next to you are so rude and aggressive that it can be scary just trying to look at stuff. That's another thing I see people showing in their states that makes me jealous, they're fellow bins shoppers are just normal people. 😭
