We would love your help by answering this question so we can help more channels succeed! If you’re monetized, how many videos did you publish before you got monetized? If you’re not, how many videos do you have now?
Took me 1 year and 20 videos to get monetised. Having said that, I currently only have 28 videos, though I have removed about 10 videos so really I have uploaded a total of 38 videos in 4 years. Not regular/consistent enough to really grow (Currently 12K subs). I do get about 250-300 subscribers every month and earn about $50-80 $Aust per month from YT ads. (It does go up a bit when I add new content).
I think I had a little over 180 videos over about 180 days before I got monetized. Daily video drops were the norm for the niche, that's why I did it. First month of monetization did like 750 dollars. Couldn't have done this without the Income School course though! Not a current subscriber of it, but I have been several times over the years. (If you'd like, I'd totally be game to share my story/channel for you guys to do a video with too.)
That's crazy, 12K subs with 36K views a month earns me about $15. I probably published 50 videos before I got monetized. Mostly just as an online portfolio with no intention of growing my channel.
i know why , your videos are really short this guy make 6 to 12 minute videos so he can have 3 or more ads in them but if the video is 1 to 2 minutes you can only add one ad
Thank you so much for making this video! We are on the road to 1k and monetisation. Started uploading in March and now we are at 652 subs! We are gunning for it!
I got monetised after my first couple of videos. Reaction content has always done well on RUclips. And I'm able to monetise them because I edit in a way I can argue fair use. The content isnt on screen for any longer than 10 seconds before I cut away. I never show the whole episodes of what I am watching. I try and keep all music out of my reactions, so no intro songs to the shows or famous musical numbers. My advice is to remember that your channel is a CHANNEL. Like on TV. If you want to do lots of different types of content, have different channels. Like we have sports channels, movie channels etc. When you upload a video, youtube sends it to your current subscribers, if its not what they like or what they subscribed for, they wont click on it and RUclips wont then promote it further. Consider your thumbnails: there should be an element of brand to them, something that lets everyone know its one of YOUR videos, while also telling them what they're about to watch. Good luck everyone!!
Got monetized around 45 long form vids over 16 months. I had a good vid about New Orleans that I was really proud of and it didn’t do well initially but it grew late! Agree with so much of what you shared!
Thank you for always putting out informative and inspiring videos like this! I got monetized after publishing 8 long form and 54 shorts, all this happened 10 months after I published my first video :)
Grateful for my 158 awesome subscribers! 🥰🙌 Your support keeps me going every day. Tough times come and go, but I’m here to stay, growing and improving for all of us. Let’s keep the journey going! 💪💫
I’m at 258 subs since April, feels about stuck at the moment, plan to just keep going and learning, These videos and the stories in the comments give me hope
I'm at 470 subs and 239 videos so far. Ive been on RUclips for two years already. I took some time off but I'm doing what I can to start building momentum again!
This is really encouraging to see! I've been dealing with a stagnate channel for a few months, so seeing this video was really helpful. I've uploaded 97 videos (71 longform, 26 shorts) and have had enough subscribers for almost a year now; but at the moment it feels like I'm breaking even with the watch hours that I'm losing from last year. So thank you for this!
This month will be my 2nd anniversary of being active on RUclips. I have a channel that is unique. I am not expecting to explode. But publish everything helpful about wheelchairs. Nothing about sales. There are a lot of channels for sales. I want to post what will be helpful to wheelchair users to be safe and skillful with their wheelchairs. I am still a small channel. Onward we go. Liza
So I started doing my videos end of October 2023 . I did a long form video a week .. missing only 2 or3 weeks total but I got partnered w/ 3000 hours with 750 subs with 43 videos end of August technically . So I need about 600 more hours and 195 more subs for the full monetization with ads . I’ve also started to do more than 1a weeks too
Great video. I’ve been on YT for over a year now. 109 videos mixed long form and shorts. Recently I’ve added some live streams. Still not monetized, I am seeing improvements just extremely slow. Lol
Great energy. I'm new on my journey. 34 videos, 274 subs. Just trying to focus on originality and providing value by really helping others with their game.
We have 136 videos and are still not monetized. We have over 1,000 subscribers. But we are a real niche channel on the Basque culture. We've seen some videos about the Basque people take off, but not ours. Perhaps we are too specific. Would love some tips.
What I would like to share on the topic is that it took me 2.5 years to get 300 subscribers. Once I decided to educate myself on the ins and outs of RUclips it took me 8 months to get 1000 subscribers. The learning journey continues for me a humble 2100 subscribers later. Thanks guys for your insights, the knowledge you share from your content testing is appreciated 👍👍 Marc
I've produced over 60 video's and am happy with the slow growth as there's nothing too exciting content on my channel for people to stay long... it's for those that love driving through scenery and weather. Someday I'll do a blanket thumbnail session to see if it interests any new visitors. Thanks for your video ❤
I'm so close, but I'm still not there at monetization. I have 107 videos on my channel. I started in 2019, and I wasn't consistent. I've also changed the focus of my channel a few times. Thank you for this video. It was encouraging!
I started posting videos a year and a half ago. I'm at 60 long-form videos and 130 shorts. I made it to 1000 subscribers a month ago. I'm still 1300 watchtime hours before I can apply for monetization.
I'm on my way, started actually trying at the end of March 2024, have over 10,000 watch hours, just waiting for subs. Hopefully by end of this year will be monetized.
Very informative video. My channel growth is slow but steady. I'm over 1k subscribers. The struggle is real. I'm working on my 4k watch hours now. I will not quit.👍👏💃110 likes
My channel sat dormant for years and I decided to post a few video's, getting excited to see enough revenue coming in that will pay me a little-not much but it's fun to see the coins jingle in
16 videos, 296 subscribers, 450 watch hours, and serious effort starting August 7. Would love to have channel evaluated! Found a pretty unique niche without much competition…
I just got monetized a couple days ago!! 32 videos, 5 were shorts and the rest long-form. Have been at it for about 8 months. Got my watch time and subscribers on exactly the same day, which felt very lucky 😅
Thx for this video! I have 1800 subscribers and 2500 watch time hours. I started my channel Nov.26th, 2023. I share free workouts for women - Pilates/ barre/functional movement and rebounder- I love what I do and serving others but starting to feel a little tired…
Another crazy thing I noticed,is that it took me a little over a year to reach 1000 subs with around 50 videos, but as soon as I reached 1000 subs, it seems like my subs increased big time. I got to 1400 in about 2 months. I definitely didn't expect that.
I've uploaded around 200 videos since last year and the growth of my channel is very slow, or maybe because the niche I use is over saturated and has a small audience. 200 of my content are "royality rock music" I felt burnt out and haven't created any more content for several months and finally I decided to experiment with making covers of songs that were going viral, which was good for audience traffic. The results have been really great. One of my cover videos got over 7k views in a month. I agree with what you said. As a small channel, we must experiment with what might work. Even in similar categories and niches
Not monetized yet. Finding it difficult to earn subscribers. Our channel features clips from improv comedy performances. We have 36 videos and started publishing in January of 2024. Our top videos have just over 500 views. We have anotehr 3 with over 350. The rest are below 100. Our older videos did have accompanying Shorts that were associated with their longer source video, but that took a ton of time to create and configure. (WOuld love insight into shortening editing time.) We do have gaps between publishing as its based on our performance schedule. We are performing more regularly now (monthly) so it should get more regular. We do have 2 videos scheduled weekly for the next 4 weeks and have 2 more performances we can edit into videos. Thanks for the great contnet and if you do reply to this comment.
That's awesome. I love the transparency. Sadly i'm still not fully monetized yet,. I had a lot of Subs come in through Shorts and not watch any of my long form content. I'm at 150+ videos
I balance part time work, hobbies, personal life and RUclips on top of that... and it's been tough keeping up with all of them. It's already tough spending +20h on a video, but when i've got exams coming up, I need to consistently get my workouts in, spend time with family- it's not easy to balance most of the time. Ever since the beginning of the summer, I haven't uploaded a single video. I obsessed over perfection constantly, and ended up scrapping three full videos because I felt they weren't good enough. Now i'm just trying to catch up and upload again. Currently not monetized due to age restrictions in my country, a legal guardian would have to control the AdSense account, but I will be monetized soon!
I just got monetized a few weeks ago. I have 13 videos and 2 shorts, 1.2k subscribers and I'd had the 1k for months, only had to wait for the watch time to accumulate. I haven't uploaded in over a year as I've lost my cushy day job and had to hustle ever since but I hope I can get back to it soon. With the few views my channel gets I'm making somewhere between $1.50 and $6 a day. Best of luck to all of you!
I have 7 long-form videos and 7 shorts. I have 142 subscribers and roughly 550 ish watch hours. I have one video that has taken off… it currently has 5k views while everything else is averaging about 200. But the average is going up, and I’m starting to figure out what’s working. My biggest struggle is consistency… the full-time job is taking a lot out of me, and it takes me a long time to produce a video.
Not monetised yet - but only been posting for 3 months. Very similar story to your new channel. Blasted the first month just to poulate the channel (and learn the basics). Can't lkeep that up though, down to posting 2 or 3 videos a week now. 3 months in.....388 Subs, 2.8K watch hours and 50 Quiz videos posted as of today.
I have over 1,100 subs after publishing 30 videos, but only about half of the watch hours needed to monetize. I had a couple of early hits, but recently, the views have dropped off quite a bit. My other channel took over 100 videos and 18 months to monetize.
I just got approved for monetization today. I'm interested to see what the numbers will look like. I got it within a month of posting content. It was completely by accident. I made a reaction video about a paranormal investigation group. Their fans didnt like it and dislike bombed my channel and that video. I took the video down. Turns out they went on X and bragged about taking down some evil youtuber. Some of my subs saw that and brought it up to the greater paranormal and debunking channels. Within a day, I found myself wrapped up in a huge community and had some fairly big channels making videos about me. Not that my content isnt good, I was getting views and subs before all this went down. But that fan group really put me in the spot light and now I have a huge community around me and they've been nothing but supportive and encouraging.
My channel is a mess. Lots of videos, lots of shorts, vertical that should be landscape. My life as a 20 year realtor has gone 180 degrees in the mode of cancer warrior. I now need to get serious about my channel because I want to be the lead gen nurturing realtor and handing off to another boots on the ground professional. I can definitely see the benefit of developing an episodic framework. I’m a total binge watcher once I find someone who is interesting. I look forward to your thoughts. Ty
494 videos published, not monetized. 😅 A lot of those are from when I was just starting out, learning the ropes and uploading daily. Since that time, I've gotten a real mic, a real camera (and transitioned from faceless), a real green screen, and my packaging and production is a lot more dialed in to my satisfaction now, though I've backed the pace down to around weekly. Still surprisingly hard to keep up consistency and build up a backlog so I don't have to worry about it! Looking to branch out more in my videos and content to mix things up a bit more now. Appreciate this video as probably one of the more realistic ones I've seen for what small channels can expect for early phases of monetization. Like you though I *have* made money even though I'm not monetized; a whole $5 from someone clicking my tip jar link! 🤣
Thanks, your explanation is exactly what I experienced with my last three videos. Suddenly I got more views and traction, with one of my videos getting towards 7k views in a couple of days. This was really encouraging, and I hope it will also happen to all of you! It's always nice when you get this boost as a reward for all the work you've put into it. Hopefully I will see more of these spikes 😃
I have a fishing channel that I started during the pandemic. I have consistently only put out 1 video per year. 3 years later I was only at 3 videos published with 916 subscribers and only 360 hours of watch time. I posted a new video 5 days ago and it blew up and had given me 870 watch hours and 124 new subscribers in less than a week. I now have 1.1k subscribers and only need roughly 3000 more watch hours in the next 11 months. Hopefully I can put out a couple more videos that hit just as well as this one.
I was at about 4 years and 210 videos before I got monetized. A lot of first videos was just me fooling around. Nothing was edited and the sound was absolutely horrible. I still keep the crappy videos so I'm reminded of how much I've improved. Eventually, I had a video that was enough by itself for my channel to be monetized. It has over 70K views and drove traffic to 30 of my other videos that were tied to the same series.
So happy that I happened to stumble upon your video! As a newbie creator with 5 subscribers, you gave me a lot of great insight information and tips!! Thanks, you have new subscriber here for sure😉
Publishing daily is way beyond my abilities with my channel, lol. But in the first full month of monetization, for the last 28 days, 1.1K subscribers, 5.1K watch hours, and $129.82, which I'm very content with. Number of Chapter videos published when I monetized is only 14, representing 11 hours and 20 minutes of unique long form content that I cut up into manageable
my channel almost had a 40k subscribers, and my channel got 10million views so far,. but im not still eligible for monetization. but my question is, how much is my earning if my channel will be monetized based on views and subscribers, hope anyone can answer
I have 2 channels this one and a fitness one. I reach burn out as I work a corporate job and film, edit in my spare time. Hey $80 is better than $0. Some days I wonder if it’s worth doing.
In my first video , It took me 1 video to reach 4k watch time and 1800 subs. video was up for about 23 hours, then the copyright claim came in due to the song I used even tho it was an NCS royalty free. I just went back to doing some random plays since it's just for fun. I'm definitely "not that guy"
Great video I really appreciate the tips. Currently on our way to 10k subscribers. 💪🏽 I hope everyone also reaches their milestone. See you guys at the top
So... my channel is a little over two years old, I have 821 videos, and I haven't quite made it to monetization yet. Granted, it a Let's Play Channel, so that's probably the main reason.
bruh 2.1k videos and I'm still not fully monetized. I've hit the first level of monetization which is 500 subs and 3k watch hours and I'm almost at that next level. I have 951 subs and 3847 watch hours.
Hey i hope you don't mind, I took a look at a couple of videos and I think people are clicking but not staying. I think you're recording with some kind of GoPro esq camera which isnt great quality, doesnt give great sound either. Try recording with your mobile instead, and see if that helps the quality of your videos! Good luck!
My channel got monetized after 15 months and 100+ uploads of ”guitar backing tracks”. (The watch hours was the ”easy” part for me) But since I got monetized I had some of the worst months in views since I started the channel, so maybe only around 15-20 dollars/month. So far 😘
I am on video 730 or so but most are shorts. I wish I never started with doing shorts, I was on my way to 4000 watch hours. My main videos get crickets now. Would love a review

My channel started by accident just posting videos of a mean neighbor Karen harrassing me. Now I'm all in headed to 500 subscribers! Life is ironic!!
I posted 39 videos before I got monetized. Posted my first video in June 2021 and was monetized by mid-October 2021

13 videos, 254 subs, 1.3k watch hours been uploading for 6 weeks. so im basically 1/4 way there. hopefully monetized by 2025
when you get paid from youtube? what date of the month?
When i searched for "how much youtube paid me" your video was at the top, keep it up!
Thanks for this video! I'm currently at 956 subs from 174 videos (103 long form and 71 shorts) and I have about 2335 watch hours. It's been a grind 😅
Wow. 700$ a month sounds amazing.
A lot of work and investment to get there but it motivates more knowing one could get to that point 😎👍
Congratulations ! for all small RUclipsr let’s grow together it’s possible 😎
As of today, my channel “I’m Old, I’m Bored… And I’m Only Able To Change One Of Those” has 592 subscribers and 1366 watch hours…
I have over 230 videos and 770 subs and been in the platform since 2018.
I even did p24
It took me 30 videos on two months to monetize.😊
Nice work!
I'm watching this. Because I just got monetized yesterday. Just need to wait for the bank threshold.
Woohoo! Congrats! Have you done any other monetizing on your channel?
Ty
Not monetized quite yet. Just passed 1,000 subscribers but still waiting for watch hours to catch up. 282 videos...
I'm glad to see you're still plugging away at it and learning. It's going to happen!
Thanks for sharing, 55 videos here, with 56 subscribers 🙌🙌🙌
Welcome aboard! :)
Jake is your brother? I feel like that’s a plot twist that I missed. Was this mentioned before?
Yeah, but probably not a ton of times. It definitely comes up more on Pantry Preparedness.
47 not there yet but I know , I will get there, thank you for your time making this video :)
My new channel is slow , but I hope it will get there 😊
I’m at 999 subscribers!😆
Nice! I just checked in and it looks like you made it!
Thanks a lot! Still a long ways to go though
Congrats for 1k subscribers 💪🏽
Thank you!
Thank bro, I am at 451 and hope to grow mine
Greatful for my 90 awesome subscribers 😊
Also thanks for making this video
Amazing how you explain, thank you❤
Publishing daily is way beyond my abilities with my channel, lol.
CONGRATULATIONS. Keep posting. I have watched your video. Well presented.
@@LondonMap Thank you 🙂
I have just under 600 total 500+ is shorts and 2400 subs, not monitized.
It took me 64 videos and a little over 8 months to get monetized.
Congratulations. I have watched your video. Well presented.
Thank you
You're welcome!
2400 videos, still have thousands more to upload.
I have watched your video. Well presented.
It really took me around 200 videos to become fully monetized
my channel almost had a 40k subscribers, and my channel got 10million views so far,. but im not still eligible for monetization. but my question is, how much is my earning if my channel will be monetized based on views and subscribers, hope anyone can answer
Great content!! Just started my journey 7 days ago. Wish everyone good luck 🎉 💯
Took 90 videos for me to get monetized. Although for the first 30 or so of them I wasn't going 'all in' on them
Burning out is so real especially if there are no results
10:15 - My channel IS monetized, but not getting long-form video views, and therefore making almost no money...
i have 1800 sub and posted 22 long vides and 30 shorts and not monetized yet
I hope everyone also reaches their milestone. See you guys at the top
Well good for you guys because I have 8k subs and since im all shorts I can't get near 4k watch time or 1 million views on shorts
So... my channel is a little over two years old, I have 821 videos, and I haven't quite made it to monetization yet. Granted, it a Let's Play Channel, so that's probably the main reason.
Trying to get my channel to take. Still trying to figure the recipe
bruh 2.1k videos and I'm still not fully monetized. I've hit the first level of monetization which is 500 subs and 3k watch hours and I'm almost at that next level. I have 951 subs and 3847 watch hours.
I have 64 videos I get 1000s of views but I only have 300 subs. I have been making videos on youtube for 2 years and I am about to give it up.
(The watch hours was the ”easy” part for me)
But since I got monetized I had some of the worst months in views since I started the channel, so maybe only around 15-20 dollars/month. So far 😘
Be positive. Keep posting. I have watched your video. Well presented.
@@LondonMap Thanks👍
I am on video 730 or so but most are shorts. I wish I never started with doing shorts, I was on my way to 4000 watch hours. My main videos get crickets now. Would love a review
