That makes the reality I dispense that much more painful and for that I make no apologies, either now or for past courts-martial over my 30 years of military service (served as part of an entire government agency, DoD, collectively dedicated to victim blaming, minimizing and non-accountability-and I’m confident saying that even as a career AF Jag and former Army enlisted MP. It was dumb to go drinking with this guy that was a complete stranger. That aside, she should be able to have a drink with someone without all that followed. But it isn't the reality in this world. Women should be able to accept a drink from someone in a bar or at a party but they can't unless they have watched it made or opened. They should be able to walk down a street at night or enter a parking garage by themselves but they can't. This is why girls go out and have rules and stay with each other to watch out for each other. Men don't do this because they don't have to. I agree that she is not to blame for what happened but also agree that she was foolish to go with this guy.
