    In this video I show you how to simulate multiple direct injections in a diesel engine using Ricardo WAVE engine simulation. I compare a single fuel injection scenario with a multiple injection scenario. I go through the steps on how to change a single direct injection to multiple direct injections in a diesel engine model in Ricardo WAVE.

    Sir can you give some direction on how to proceed with learning and then actually applying Ricardo? Like first learning the engine fundamentals then heat transfer and fluid mechanics then maybe learning CFD, etc. And also the sources of these if you remember from your study. Thanks again for these tutorials! Well detailed!

      Thanks for the comment and feedback 🙏 A really invaluable resource for me was the book "Internal Combustion Engines Fundamentals" by JB Heywood. It covers engine fundamentals and helps you understand exactly how an engine operates. It also looks at how to model different aspects of the engine such as heat transfer and fluid mechanics. CFD is also covered, but I did not focus on that at the time so I cannot really say if it is useful. Once you are up to speed on the information contained in the book, you can compare it with the information in the Ricardo help file. A lot of theory is covered in the documentation which can shed some light on how WAVE models things. For me, these two resources were enough to effectively apply Ricardo WAVE.

    Hi, please can we simulate duel fuel using this software, one of them injected in the import manifold and the main one in the cylinder and how.

      There is actually an example engine that does just that. It is diesel and natural gas. Just have a look in the examples folder that comes with the installation

    Hi, I am a 4th year Mechanical engineering student, I am simulating a9 cylinder marine engine in Riccardo wave and I am having difficulty with how to set up multiple cylinders. I am looking too calculate the NOX emissions which are produced by the engine and provide solutions for to reduce eg add an EGR. could you please help in how to make a 9 cylinder model in Ricardo wave. thank you

      There are two ways: you can drag 9 cylinder elements onto the canvas and build the model from scratch, or you can use an example engine. I had a look and there is a 6L 6 inline cylinder. You copy the cylinder element and paste in three more. It will be a start at least :-)

    Hey!! I was running a simulation and an error came up that said PHITOT value is too high. I couldn't find any explanation to what it exactly is. What parameter is it and how can I solve it. It also said check intake valve , fuel rate. I can share an image of the error if you'd like to have a look.

      That usually has to do with the ratio of fuel and air used during combustion. I had this error some time back. You need to check if your fueling is correct.
