Hip hop seems to make it more popular but actually ruined the labels prestige. All new Louis Vuitton is made cheaper compared to older designs. Virgil era bags don’t even last more than a couple seasons, but older lv bags will last generations. Shows how much you know about fashion or the quality of lv! I’ve been a lv collector since the early 90s. And virgils quality doesn’t hold a candle to the older lv! Marc Jacobs ready to wear was more prestigious as well.

LV created canvas aka "PVC Leather aka pleather". They are the original creators of it, leather fades and gets patina with age,uv exposure, and how its stored. You have zero of these problems with canvas hence why the started using it on all their bags. They never said lets use cheaper "materials" they just said we need to a waterproof material. Hence LV's "Canvas". EDIT: to those below saying "they never used leather" correct and never did I say they did. The original pre pvc canvas trunks were made of woven cloth "canvas".
They never used leather in the first place, it has always been canvas. Only the straps and buckles are made of different materials, the main body is always made of canvas

@@naughtiasteffano9885 there is still good stuff being made... especially in the limited release collections but the everyday stuff has gone down not because of streetwear but specifically because of the demand in the Asian market. The Chinese have taken over Luxury brands and LVMH is responding. Luckily LVMH has realized that this isn’t sustainable and have began raising prices in China and Europe, where they buy the most, as well as decreasing quantities for the Asian markets to increase demand. LV is adjusting.
@@Npzsn83 I own limited releases. I get invited to lv shows. I’m a buyer. And even those are not as well made as Marc Jacobs era and prior. Street wear has ruined the image and quality. Because most people who are into street wear buy the knockoffs. Except the hip hop artist. Most listeners of hip hop can’t afford high fashion. So they buy knockoffs which also cheapen the brand.
