What color/brand of gold spray paint did you use on the solenoids? Did you primer it first, I’m having a hard time hiding the wood grain. Also I saw that you had, heavy scratch remover and light scratch remover, what was the spray you had?
You’ll always prime before you paint. That’ll help some but to truly hide the grain so that it doesn’t look like wood you’ll need to skim coat it. Spackle works. I use timbermates (a water based wood filler). Whatever you use it should sand very easily. I like timbermates because it dries quicker than spackle. Skim coat to fill the grain, sand, prime, paint. I don’t recall what brand paint I used. Something from the big box store, nothing special. As far as the polishing compound look up novus 7100 plastic polish kit on Amazon. That’s what I used.
