  • This video compares 3 flux capacitors you can buy to the flux capacitor used in the Back to the Future "A" car, the main DeLorean used in all 3 movies.
    The documentary on the restoration of the "A" car can be purchased here:
    outatime-store...
    The book detailing the car can be purchased here:
    www.amazon.com...
    The Diamond Select flux capacitor is no longer being produced but can usually be found on eBay.
    The DMC flux capacitor can be purchased here:
    store.delorean...
    The flux capacitor I have installed in my car is a slightly modified version from eBay seller CherokeeJerod. He sells one at a time so if you don't see one, maybe contact him or wait until one goes up for sale again:
    www.ebay.com/u...
    And there are other flux capacitors out there, these just happen to be the 3 I've purchased.

    Such a shame that the red decals don’t touch the rubber gasket on the replica 😢almost perfect 😊

    Congrats for the great video! It's really well done! I would like to ask you about information on flow capacitor electronics. Do you have an email? or messenger? Thanks in advance

    I built one myself that actually works, but I lost it in 1961 at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. I think Pete Best stole it.

    How do you think the more recent Factory Entertainment compares to the original? Just based on the pictures.
    NOTE: I'm pretty sure I posted this question yesterday, but I don't see it. I included a link to the Factory Entertainment page for the Flux Capacitor, not sure if maybe that was considered spam. Figured I'd repost, just to get the question in there. If this disappears again then I'll just let it go.

      That one looks very good! I just saw a video of it and the light sequence chases accurate, the correct warm lighting, the case is a correct size and color. Looks like they did a very good job on it!

      @@DeLoreanCorner-vl9ub Nice, I appreciate your thoughts! I love Back to the Future and have always wanted a good-quality Flux Capacitor replica. Hadn't really searched to deeply for one, though, had I come across the one on eBay from CherokeeJerod I might have gone for it! Lucklily I saw the Factory Entertainment one come up and pre-ordered it immediately. It always looked good to me, but the picture angles are limited and didn't know all the details like you described here. Watching your video, though, I'm feeling pretty good about it. Thanks!

      @@HeartlessPhoenix the pictures and videos of it look very accurate. I think you picked a good one and post a comment when you get it to let me know what you think of it!

    When you say you hollowed out the blades, do you mean that you drilled through the blade so the LED is not pressed up against the bade but instead comes through the blade?

    • @DeLoreanCorner-vl9ub
      @DeLoreanCorner-vl9ub  10 месяцев назад

      That’s correct, I used a dremel with an endmill type bit and worked the backside of the blades down so there would be maybe 1/4 of space between the top of the LEDs and the blades. I could have just spaced the LED board away from the blades but that would also space the center light away and the IR sensor and didn’t want to do that.

    Is it easy to change the LEDs chasing on the diamond select version?

      Each set of 3 lights is it’s own board. I flipped each board 180 and had to rewire with longer wires for the outer LEDs. If you have some experience soldering it’s a simple mod. 👍

    Hi there, how easy was it to change the setup of the lights on this particular flux? I have the same flux. Would it also be easy to say swap out the board on the back for a different set of LED’s from a different board with different electronics…. Keep the relays etc just add a different board on the back with different Arduino etc so it works with other props?
    Thanks

      @DeLoreanCorner-vl9ub  10 месяцев назад +1

      It was a bit time consuming to get the lights closer together since the spacing is built into the electronics board. To do it I had to sort of stair step the LEDs on top of each other with their leads getting progressively longer to reach the connectors. I probably should have documented that process and shared it in the video but that was before I decided to make the channel. If I can find any pictures I took of the process I’ll put them together in a short video. But swapping the boards is another option that I think would have good results.

      @@DeLoreanCorner-vl9ub this is very helpful, thank you. Did you drill new holes in the board for the new LED placement so they are closer to relay?

      @DeLoreanCorner-vI9ub Great video! I’m curious about this modification. I own the same flux. Did you talk with the seller to see if he’d modify it? I’m afraid I’d mess mine up. Thanks -
