      I had sewed a different pattern in cordoroy and yes, the tips definitely apply to cordoroy as well as velvet. I'm excited to add this one to my pattern stash, because the one that I had used wasn't nearly as well drafted / instructed and I made a TON of mistakes. It was a great learning experience for sure, but I am excited to make the pants again eventually with this pattern.

My daughter is very hard to fit and to date I’ve not had very good luck with LN pants on her, but I learn a little more each time I try. So maybe eventually I’ll be able to fit her without needing to spend weeks on pattern tweaks.

    The Itch to Stitch Upland trouser pattern looks almost identical in the line drawings except for the front pocketing. It would be easy to hack the patch pockets onto an Uplands cut. Whitney, as a big Uplands booster before Largo Cargo came along, could you perhaps tell us whether the fit and instructions of the two patterns are different?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  11 месяцев назад +1

      You could definitely hack the Uplands to be something similar. I would say the two pants are very similar in fit and construction!

    You are too much of a good influence on me! lol I've bought the pattern but I think I would omit the hammer strap. I love that these are pretty straight through the hip to hem. Would you use cotton velveteen for the blazer/jackets that are all the rage this fall?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  11 месяцев назад

      I think you could omit the hammer strap, side pockets, and change back pockets to welt pockets and you would have a really nice pair of regular trousers as well with this pattern. I really love the fit on these! You could ABSOLUTELY use the cotton velveteen for a lovely blazer/jacket for the fall. I actually bought this fabric with that in mind, but am really glad I used it for these pants!

    Those look great Whitney and great on you! I do have a question on fit though. On the Love Notions site many of models seem to have bunching in the front crotch area. Yours don't seem to have that or is it just dark brown disguises it. What adjustment do think should've been made to fix it? Or is it the design of the pattern? Thanks.

    • @ursbis
      @ursbis 11 месяцев назад

      With the dark color, how can you see the fit…

    • @beverlyrund8488
      @beverlyrund8488 11 месяцев назад

      I can’t tell on Whitney’s. I think the dark color disguises it. But the Love Notions web site shows a lot of examples with pulling &/or bagginess right in the front crotch area.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  11 месяцев назад

      I've got the fit pretty good on this pair and had to minimal tweaking (the full belly piece was a game changer for me). Usually the bunching in the crotch is a rise issue, either too long or too short. However, it could also be a combination of a few things. The models could have also just picked a wrong size. The pattern went through a couple of iterations before the final version. I know she added a bit more ease in through the hips for the final and that could play a part in the fit of the crotch as well. Fabric can also play a part. Thinner fabrics will show more creases.

    • @bevier8100
