- The NYPD rounded up 16 alleged gang members in Queens during raids over the past week, officials announced Tuesday. The busts were the culmination of a nearly two-year investigation sparked by the death of a mother who was struck by a stray bullet while out buying milk, an unintended victim of gang violence, officials said.
She was in the right place ,those criminals were not in the right place

@@myohmy7368 it's a cycle for a reason it's been this way for decades. As long as there are have and have nots this will always be the case. It's not just in America we only see it because we live here. Housing projects no matter where you live in the world breeds gangs and violence. I grew up in east New York In the 80's my mom did not allow me to go outside unless it was to go to school. It sucked being a prisoner in your own community, I hated it but later understood why she did.
The question is not how many they caught out of all the people they’re looking for. The question is how many of those caught will be released.

Just recently in an interview, Fredro stated that “real nigg@$ aren’t trying to be cops”. Now I grew up listening to Onyx and I even owned “BACDAFUCUP” on cassette when it first released but his comment rubbed me the wrong way. I wouldn’t want anyone with that mentality he’s suggesting to be patrolling my neighborhood anyway. Props to the good cops risking their lives to protect Queens and the hardworking people who just want to live.

Growing up in NYCHA, I had a fear of police and it dawned upon me as I grew older and mature; the reason I felt the way I did is because many of my friends sold drugs etc, so my fear was projected on me. I further realized that the majority of cops protecting our communities don't live here. Imagine a job where you wake up, kiss you family and go protect someone else's community and from people who also reside in those communities.
There is solution. #1 everyone gets full-term life insurance #2 financial literacy as an educational mandate from K-12 and #2. We have to change our education system-drastically. Those that get involved in crime are often dropouts, have zero interesting in school.. However, like an inmate at Rikers told our Education chancellor- Banks, as the inmate was learning carpentry (I believe) "if I was doing this in HS, I probably wouldn't be here..." I'm paraphrasing but to that... Where do lost souls go in the hood?- to gangs because the need to be communal is still there. Let's break down all those arrested in this bust: How many have HS diplomas or higher, how many are dedicated to at least one thing positive in their lives and actively working etc?
As an HS educator, I see time and time again the frustration on so many Black and Hispanic males (in particular) and when that frustration gets to a point, "Mr. why are they giving me history and giving me this math class again, they want me to show up but they don't understand I cant' focus." They'll just quit and become part of the streets and then part of a reoccurring system.

Thank God these criminals are being put away. My friend was at a deli right next to Astoria houses and a tall light skin African American man cant up to him and told him he has to buy weed from him or else, then my friend says he doesn't smoke, so the man came up to his face and pointed a gun at his stomach and said, "you ever seen a real life robbery in progress?" my friend then tried to deescalate the situation by stepping to the side and backing up to the door while telling the man "you got it bro" then as he was walking back the man ask him why you here, my friend says to buy Advil and halls because he was sick, the man said "GTFO of here or ill slap the shit out of you" so my friend proceeded to walk out the store and the man follows him out and points the gun and says stay right there, the man's friend tells him to calm down, in that moment my friend quickly walks away and turns the corner.... All this to say some people out there will attempt to kill you just because they feel like it, even if they never saw you in their life with no care for who you are or what you do for others... These are the type of people we are locking up and I thank the NYPD! Keep our kids same from ppl like this they should only be in a jail cell...

I grew up in NYCHA in the South Bronx. I still reside in New York City. It's great work (hard work, tedious work) that the NYPD's Gun Violence Suppression Unit is doing. I absolutely love what NYPD Sgt. Sandy Rodriguez said, "We're not going to tolerate the violence. The streets belong to the community. They deserve to walk in the streets. They deserve to get ice cream. They deserve to be in the playgrounds. They deserve to be on the park benches without having to deal with violence". Well said sir. It's a shame to have the threat of gang and gun violence looming over you every time you leave the house for school, work, play and so on. These violent, trouble making punks belong behind bars for a very long time.

What “turf and power”? All these rats live in the same turf: NYCHA. Our taxes pay for their housing so we have the power. People always use the poverty excuse for gang activity. Although, that is somewhat true there are other factors such as lack of drive and motivation. I know many kids who grew up in Queensbridge and Far Rockaway houses who are children of immigrants, have now become doctors, CPAs and investment bankers.

The crime in those neighborhoods have been decreasing with the rest of the city since the mid 90s. The only reason why people were being released from jail was because of their protocols so inmates wouldn't spread COVID-19 to other inmates. That's been going on around the country, not just in NY. Get off the conservative bandwagon because Soros had nothing to do with any of this and it wasn't racist keeping the jails full, It was violent criminals themselves keeping them full.
