    1) Read carefully the question, clear all the confusions
    2) Create your own examples on whiteboard or paper to better understand the problem
    3) Write Pseudo code or Algorithm ( Modularize your problem )
    4) Write code in your desire programming language

Thanks, Jose, for bringing to our attention that the algorithm choice is just the fourth step, not the second or the third. After understanding the problem, I usually go right on choosing the algorithm. Slowing down by exercising input and output scenarios and mapping the edge cases may provide some extra time for the brain to distill the code solution and devise better which algorithm and data structures to use and how to do it.

One thing I don't like is the short time, I've already lost a big opportunity because the code challenge runs off time and I fail due that, three months to take the challenge again...

Yep, Same thing, sometimes you can solve challenge instantly, but sometimes you just bump into problem and you are getting nervous because of time and consequently fail

Thank you so much for the tips. I have learnt so much already from watching a couple of your videos. I am pursuing a Master's degree in Software Engineering and this will for sure give me more confidence for interviews!
One question, would you consider candidates with. adegree in Software Engineering (5 years) over work experience? With solid University projects on their CV?

      Hi Sabin,
The odds of junior developers getting hired are definitely lower, since 80% of Turing's partner companies in the U.S require at least 3 years of work experience.
We however routinely hire strong developers with 0-3 years experience for internal roles within Turing (and for roles with the remaining 20% of Turing's partner companies that are open to hiring developers with little to no experience as long as they are exceptionally skilled and talented).
So if you are a junior developer who signs up and does very well in our tests, you'll definitely be considered for internal roles at Turing and roles with the minority of our partner companies who are open to hiring strong developers with less experience.

Is it fair to have 3 coding questions in 30 mins? What's the acceptability criteria? Is it all 3 correct submissions?

for code Challenge is it allowed to use external IDE like visual studio to test the code and after that paste it into the Turing interface?.

    • @Turingcom
      @Turingcom  9 месяцев назад

      Hi @jordanrosas9765,
When appearing for the Turing Coding Challenge you have to work within the internal IDE; since your coding challenge is recorded and shared with prospective employers.
So no, you cannot use an external IDE when taking the coding challenge.
      Hope this clarifies. :)
      Regards,
      Turing

This causes frustration. The problem with the internal IDE is that there are no compilation error indications. No copy and paste - which is fine, but that is a tool I personally use to speed up dev time.
It seems a bit skewed. It feels like you're asking us, to use a simily, to replace a part in a car with no use of tools.

@@jacoslabbert5928agree. It is very frustrating to use the IDE.

What about someone with no work or industry experience: can the developer still attempt the interview?
