They need to be banned from all cruise ships.
Jailed and have gun confiscated and if they have license for gun have that taken away too.
they prob all share banned info, as the people will (if they want to cruise again) go onto another service, since they are banned from a particular one, and the others will not want them or want to risk hosting them.

@@lovedfriend2020 People get very creative on how to sneak banned items on all cruise lines. I've seen it unfortunately. Some people are just rule breakers but I'm glad they were caught because of their own stupidity and banned for life.

Haines is one of my favorite, less crowded ports, but it does need some improvements. I don’t mind the increase. Cost of one drink.

Sounds like they only broke a rule not a law. Jail and fines can’t be handed down by a corporation.
They are subject to the laws of the country of registry of the ship, not US law.

I think cruise lines should share info with airlines and border patrols to inhibit people from travelling with guns period.
Incidents like these are reported to Homeland Security. Unfortunately for you , traveling with guns isn’t illegal unless under certain circumstances.
Oh you can take guns on airlines they just have to be in your checked baggage. You don't have to declare them by law when you check you baggage but its smart if you do because they know to keep an eye on it to make sure that it does not come up missing. Now an airlines could have a policy that requires you to notify the check in baggage people that you are bring a firearm on board as check in baggage so its just best just to do so in the first place.
You can also carry guns on boats and ships under certain conditions. You must be able to posses the gun legally where you live and be either in your home countries sea boarders or in international waters. If you cross into another countries border that is when you get into a shit load of trouble. Also its best to let the owner and captain know you will be bringing it on board as they do have the legal right to arrest you and turn you over to the local police for prosecution of illegal possession of a fire arm.

HOLY COW!!!! Talk about stupid criminal tricks! I think they were trying to be cool about sneaking the weapon onboard and filming! I hope they get the legal "Book" thrown at them, and their names are shared with every cruise line in existence! The other big question is how the heck did the gun make it past security? That's a nasty lapse on the part of the cruise line. I wonder if the couple flew to their cruise departure point and somehow managed to smuggle it past airline security as well.....
It is legal to bring a gun with you on a plane. It has to go in the check baggage, needs to be on a locked box inside the luggage, and you need to declare it when you check in. I've done it many times. Now, if they brought it on their carry-on and security didn't find it, then that is illegal.
Don. So many questions. How did it even get on? And had the nerve to film and post. Quite idiotic. So glad they were banned. Surprised not charged with endangerment or something else. Even if she kept the gun in her bag, don’t those go on a belt through security 🤷🏻♀️🤦♀️

My question too. We had to wait outside for three hours last winter as they ‘thought’ a gun got through security at the beginning of embarkation for our cruise. They went from room to room, even searching each room and luggage before they started embarking all the rest of the passengers.
@@LMiller-w4q I got stopped in Seattle for what they thought was a handgun. It was clay seal, yes the animal, arched up. I bought it in the airport!
So I tell everyone I once had a concealed seal!
Probably said they have a medical condition and couldn’t do metal detectors so got a pat down instead
@dinospumoni8860 Odds are that loophole will be now be closed. There will be even greater scrutiny from security, which may slow down the boarding process for everyone.
My daughter was stopped with bullets in her bag. We almost missed our ship dealing with this😢. How in the world could they get a weapon on?😮
If I lived in a port town that cruise lines were constantly stopping at, I would want 1 day of the week to be cruise ship free so the citizens could get their errands done without dealing with the crowds.
Juneau is voting in this very idea. I love cruising but I think it's a good idea. Locals need to be able to enjoy their own town.

All cruise lines should make it a standard inclusion - Banned from one/ banned from all cruise lines.
Firearms offences should also include a cancellation for life of passports.
These guidelines (declaration of dangerous goods/items) have been around long enough and notices displayed long enough. Let's make travel safe

For the extra fees, I think this is just a sign of things to come. The ships are getting too big and too many people in port at once. Haines is a pretty spot, but gets overwhelmed even with a small ship.
When this happens, I just spend less money in the port.
When I lived in Ketchikan, the only locals who went downtown were the people who worked at the tourist shops. When I was there the population would quintuple for the time the cruise ships were docked. And after I moved away they extended the cruise ship docks so that more ships could dock! It’s too much for a small community!
Fees help keep the port infrastructure up. If the local labor and good prices go up, doesn't it make sense to increase the port fees?

Depends on if the gun ever left the ship while they were in a different country. You see on a cruise ship nobody's allowed to have weapons only deckhands the cooks in kitchens have knives . There is a maritime law when you're out at Sea there's yeah it's a felony .
That's one reason why many people won't cruise with Carnival. If those people did it, they must not be the first. Or the last.

It was the pickles that got me!!! LOL
We have been some of older cruisers who travel frequently on cruises of 7+days. We have found that the longer cruises have fewer behavior problems. Unfortunately with the prices continually increasing we will have to take shorter cruises ‐NOT or fewer cruises - BOOHOOHOO.

It wasn't long ago you did a story about a man in jail in Turks Caicos. All he had was one bullet in his bag. In his case, if I remember correctly, he uses the bag when he goes hunting and just missed the one bullet when he cleaned out the bag. In this couples case, you can't miss a handgun in your bag. I can't even imagine why you would want to bring one to begin with unless it was purposely done to make the video.
Security at the cruise ports is a joke. Makes TSA look like super geniuses.
The plaque of hidden fees and taxes grows. Canadian airports have figured this out long ago and the fees they now charge often exceed the actual cost of the airfare. There was trend sometime ago to do away with all these tariffs but those days are now gone. Soon every port will have a fee on the fee.
Exactly! The fees added to airfare for international travel from the US should be criminal. And now cruises? It is crazy. Go check an international flight fare, actually pay attention to the fees part.

They need to check the security process at the port. I was always under the impression the security was airport grade when it came to weapons - other prohibited items (food stuff, electrical items, etc.) would require a hand search of bags.

Carnival could ban them from all their brands.
Carnival includes Princess, Holland America, Cunard, Costa among others. You can bet they’re banned from those

As I said it before the cruise line needs a system to see who is is ban and what for like they have a no fly list they should have a no cruise list all they need to do is put they information on to a list all the cruise line have access to and if they get flagged that means they can travel but that’s just my opinion

Cruising to Alaska is my favorite destination however it fares have more than doubled or even trippled in some cases; so now I am unable to afford my annual trip.

The one potential good thing about those people getting themselves caught with bringing a handgun aboard a cruise ship is that it highlighted to the cruise company they obviously had a lapse in their security protocol(s), and hopefully gives them the needed push to review and improve them.
Since the port authority is the one in charge of security scans of the luggage, the definitely need retraining.

Hi Don I hope you're well and enjoying your cruise. Those two are just banned from Carnival? That's bs they need to be banned on all cruise lines I don't want those two psychotic imbeciles on Royal Carribean with me or my fellow cruisers. I'll also add that those two should get jail time as well... and this is just one more reason for me to not sail on Carnival I'm staying loyal to Royal.

I don't understand why people would risk their vacation (and thousands of dollars) to get some clout on social media. I work too hard saving up for these cruises to play around like that.

Considering the cost of a cruise, $9 is nothing. These ports need funds to build, repair, and support their infrastructure - which benefits cruisers. I'm really tired of people who think their pricey vacations are more important than the towns they go to and the folks who actually live there.
I agree with you...however, not when the fee is not set and can be used for other items a community wants and residents are not willing to pay for it themselves. I am an Alaskan and this is the talk around the water cooler. Yes, port fees to pay for services but not an ice rink, water park or decrease my property tax and put that cruise fee money toward our schools and libraries instead. Again, yes to go toward port costs, improvements, services, but not to a communities general fund to pay for things we are not willing to pay for.
Now the better question is how did it get past security
We diverted to Hanes in bad weather but in late September the town was closed except a few small shops.
Maybe the cruise lines should put out a survey and ask people what ports they want to visit and are willing to pay those extra prices or to skip them altogether. I see too much greed here on the ports. Yes, maybe they are for the expenses they put into the ports but are some of these really necessary? It seems like one port adds more fees, then the next one adds more fees and so on.
It never ceases to amaze me how indisputably foolish some "criminals" can be - the "rush" of "showing off" their transgression is apparently so intense that they can't restrain themselves from FILMING & POSTING their crime - it's called self-incrimination!!?? From the fool with "water hack" (drinking the bottled water & avoiding paying for it by refilling it with tap water & gluing the cap back on) to this knucklehead with a "hand gun" - did you not think this wouldn't be seen by other cruisers or the line itself and reported!!??
Of course, some might argue that on a Carnival cruise, an extra means of personal defense is important as you never know when you're going to be caught up in one of that line's storied "fight nights." If that's your concern, avoid the line!
Finally, this is a major security lapse. How that got past screening is hard to fathom.
I would really like to know how a gun made it on to the ship in the first place. Sheesh!

How did those passengers get the gun onto the ship? This sure oesn't say much for the pteboarding scanning process Carnival uses! Just the idiocy of them posting online they brought a gun onboard... mind blowing stupidity & nerve!!
