Can you please expand on what's stated at 10:40 about chalking a line in cased the walls are not square? I generally understand you're trying to make sure the boards are square with the walls and ceiling. However, I'm not exactly sure how to deal with a room that is not exactly square. I don't want to ask too much of you since you're already made a big effort to produce this video, however, if you're inspired to make another video, I would find it helpful to see how you install the ceiling panels in a room that is not exactly square. Seeing how you make the chalk line and how that line is used, would be helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you for everything, Sir. Thumbs up on this video.
LMFAO this guy is incredible, can’t believe how much he breaks things down . You are a PHENOMENAL teacher. Subscribed
I tried to keep all of my videos very beginner friendly. Whenever I try to learn a new skill, it is helpful to know all of the ins and outs. I make my videos as detailed as possible. I’m glad you like my content. Stay tune!

I used 5/8 purple on my entire house 300 sheets. Cost about 25% more than 1/2 regular. Denser and more soundproof water resistant mold and fireproof. We also went 2x6 exterior walls and rock wool. Really quiet solid peace of mind. Cheaper than a fancy monopoly design.
cool
That was very smart 👌
This was one of the most comprehensive videos with clear instruction I've ever watched on RUclips. Thanks so much for helping a beginner out.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow this is one of the best channels on youtube. Detailed, yet organized and succinct. Subscribed!
I do put in a lot of time to keep the channel at the level it is at. I appreciate you noticing. Stay tuned for a lot more videos to come!
Your videos are really good because you show every step no matter how obvious or not.
I feel like it’s important to show every step for beginners. I appreciate your compliment!
Do not use 12 ft drywall if youre working by yourself lol... a couple more mud joints doesnt sound as bad as maneuvering a 12 ft board
I helped my brother do it but that was nearly 20 years ago and my mom really needs hers done ASAP and there's no actual videos that I could find on here. At least any that is helpful for me so this is good.
This video will help enlighten you on the process of installing drywall. I hope it helps!
I've only been finishisg drywall since '75 and hanging it since '85. I went through a painters apprenticeship program back then and they taught me how to finish with pan and knife. When I turned out as a journeyman I switched to using hawk and trowel(I can also use the mud boxes and bazooka). Knowing how I like drywall hung for efficient finishing I taught myself to hang around 1985. When cutting out outlet boxes with the rotozip I go counter clockwise because the spin of the bit sucks it to the box and keeps it there when you go around it so there won't be any gaps and the cut is closer to the box and cleaner. When doing the inside of things like pipes(which is next to never) then you can go clockwise with the rotozip (or the Milwaukee). I'm 72 now and I'm still finishing, hanging not so much.
Come finish my drywall. I’ll fly you here and put you in an Airbnb!
I'm 72 and retired.@@JanetKohl
I just wanted to say thank you. I purchased my first home and it ended up being a lemon and I have been doing a ton of work on it. Your videos have helped me immensely through the process and I'm grateful that you have shared your knowledge in an easily digestible format.
Another wonderful comprehensive how-to video. This guy is great.
Perfect timing I'm framing in basement walls this week!😊
Great! I will hope to see you Sunday during the premier!
Can you make a video of you mudding the ceiling and walls
I’m currently working on that video. It should be out next weekend or the weekend after. Stay tuned!
The timing of your videos are impeccable. It's almost like you know what project I have coming up next. Great tips. Thanks of the video.

Well delineated video. Good job
Very well done!
Followed you overtime on several aspects of construction… hats off to you brother on knowledge of the job and your ability to explain it so to be easily understood… thanx man!
I always wondered what the different colors of drywall meant. Now I know which one to use for my soon-to-be fixed and replaced leaky ceiling. And how to go about fastening them properly on the ceiling studs. Good stuff in this video, Josh. Thanks!
Use Purple board better than the green crap.
Thanks Scott. I'll check out the purple board.
@@scottschwenk9570 Thanks Scott. I'll check out the purple board.
Awesome video, Josh! I just purchased a drywall lift a month ago, and it has been pretty amazing! I love my cut-out tool too. I got some new ideas. Thank you.
Love you Josh. You are the best teacher and I’m super grateful for your knowledge and effort
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you liked it. Be sure to stay tuned!

Wow man your videos are pure GOLD!! thank you so very Much!!! we'llhave to use your links for sure to thank you even more!!! Hi from Utah!
Excellent video! Wish everyone hung like this!!
Great video, Josh. I always appreciate your cost breakdowns. How much do you think you saved doing it yourself as opposed to hiring it out?
Great video and breakdown!
Thanks I appreciate that!
Excellent video. Detailed and very informative. One of the best out there. I appreciate the pro level communication without the ‘blooper’ or trying to be funny talk which I don’t want to hear. Plus, no pet cutaways to be cute. For DIYers who aren’t messing around. Thanks for all the info. Gonna do my artist studio in the coming weeks. Now to watch the mud video.
Excellent tutorial, well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Is there a video on insulation installation in garage?
Nice 🌺 job
Good Job
Thank you I appreciate that!
okay friend, thanks for the tutorial, nice to meet you from an Indonesian ceiling craftsman
When I do anything with fiberglass insulation, I begin choking on the fibers in the air. Do you wear any kind of respirator when installing it? I noticed you did really well installing everything, so you must have been doing all of this a long time.
When I install insulation, I do wear a dust mask. I tried to do my best when I install anything. I have been building home since I was a early teenager. Stay tuned for more videos to come!
Great video. I appreciate the depth of detail you share. I have a question. My room I'm drywalling is 11'10" wide with the floor joists running parallel to the width. It would seem to make sense to use 12' panels since the 16" OC spacing is spot on for attachment. Is there a reason you would not recommend running the drywall long edge parallel with the joists? Thanks
good morning! will you also do a video on drywall taping? thx a lot😄
Yep I am currently working on that video now. Stay tuned!
perfect
Thanks!
I'm about to finish my basement and this really explains the process nicely - thank you. BTW: can I butt 2 celling sheets together between joists, that is having an unsupported joint?
Hi Josh, I have been reading up on drywall screw guns & impact drivers etc.
I'm new to DIY. How many RPMs is your impact driver & what torque is it?
I'm going to purchase all my tools through your links you provided, I didn't see one for the impact driver thanks for all the tutorials you post, I have learnt so much.
Good Good
I would use furrings on the ceiling
That's one pretty Model 439 if we say so ourselves
Hi and first of all, thank you for kindly explaining how -to's. You talk about the dry wall being "ultra lite". I checked with my building supplier who said they have only heard of "lite" not "ultra lite". Are there 2 lighter versions? Thank you.
Thank you I'm about to dry wall a man cave and I don't know how
Great! This video will be very helpful for you!
panel lift is safer, yes. but, more importantly, your back is saved by using it and ill take that over safety any day 😂
A panel lift is the way to go! We used to use scaffolding and step ladders but it’s much safer this way. Thanks for your comment!
you put factory edge along the wall? do you just use trim to hide the bevel or how does that work?
You said it's winter out when you made this video. My questions is. why dont you have any vapor barrier on the walls?
Using liquid nails is unnecessary in my opinion, the screws alone will do the job quite adequately and like mentioned in other posts if you have to replace a piece scraping that glue out it’s gonna be a real pain in the ass for future repairs… Otherwise great video… Keep on rocking
Can i butt the drywall up against each one? I herd something about leaving a 1/8 gap? Or its not that serious? Thqnk you
It took you as long to do that first sheet as I would take a real drywall crew to hang the while ceiling
Nails are fine if you use the right ones
Does Installing the garage door before installing the ceiling drywall, cause issues with the door hitting the ceiling?
Use a screwgun and use the t square for your 16" instead of pulling your tape.
How make basement’s tile Please show me
❤ basement wale tile
No need to measure to the center of the box. Measure to the edge.
👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Also, living where I do, you get these "self taught" drywallers who don't know what they are doing because they were either taught wrong or had no one knowledgable in the trade to teach them the right way. Recently I encountered two guys hanging my buddy's shop ceiling (they were supposed to be drywallers but they line up all the butt joints instead of staggering them). If I had the authority in this situation I would have fired them on the spot. I should have fired them anyway had the county sherriff escort off of the property.
👍🔨
You don't put a vapor barrier behind the drywall ?
The insulation has a vapor barrier on it. I hope that helps!
Why stagger the drywall in the ceiling? So much waste?
Waaay too many in the field bud. Must like sanding.
Never use an impact gun for drywall even if you have that stupid drywall bit leaves a ring around your screws just buy a actual drywall gun
Takes 2 people to do it right. Use a lift.
A lift is definitely helpful when installing drywall on a ceiling. Two people is a must!
The use of Liquid Nails is a sign of extremely poor craftsmanship, because it makes any future remodel or repair an absolute nightmare. A good craftsman always thinks about how it will affect future jobs. Liquid Nails should only be used in applications where everything will be trashed if anything will need to be repaired.
What lol.
The screws are ONLY there to hold drywall onto the studs until the liquid nails adheres.
Too funny.
Yeah future demo should never be a major issue or game changer. Glue as you must listen not to this bust. 35 years of contracting….
That's just a stupid statement 🙄
@@ArcConAK I didn't say future demo. I said future repair or remodel.
@@JohnSmendrovac Stupid is as stupid does, and it's stupid to use Liquid Nails in any application that is not going to be trashed if you need to repair or remodel.
Do you have a video doing a detached garage? The ceiling is high so do you make a new ceiling?
I love your videos. Ive watched like 30 of them. Only thing I will knock is using glue. Its a pain for the next person who may need to remove some drywall in the future
