I would like to say a few words about this laptop, they gave it to me for a test for only two days, so I didn’t have much experience in using it, but in these couple of days I can say that the laptop is really good, very productive, and I was especially impressed energy efficiency and GPU temperature (although it is worth noting that the tests were carried out in a fairly cool room with a temperature of about 14-15 degrees Celsius), unfortunately I could not display the CPU frequency readings, but it usually varied from 4 to 5 GHz. So if you need a portable powerful pc and you have a lot of money, then I can recommend
It is good, but they need to market it as a 4090 Mobile or something, because it's the same as desktop 4070Ti just with double the Vram, but even the laptop 3080 had 16gb and was more like a 3060Ti

That's the way it is with laptops. Nvidia is using the GA103 with the 4090 mobile.... which is the same GPU used in the 4080, except the laptop is using regular GDDR6 VRAM. TG should have also tested the 4090 mobile against the 4080 desktop. Same thing with laptops that have a 30-series GPU. The 3080ti mobile used the AD103 GPU with 16GB of regular GDDR6 VRAM. Impressive performance, but lets all not forget that the RTX 4090 in laptops right now are not "real" 4090's. They are based on the same die as the desktop 4080, STILL they are going to revolutionize the laptop market especially as more games include NVIDIA frame generation in their settings.
This laptop looks amazing really. I currently use a six-year-old MSI Titan with a GTX 1080 and it still runs most games satisfyingly. I can't begin to imagine what gaming would look like on the Scar. Is running games at 120 fps, at 4K, with ray-tracing that useful? I'm sure you can run games on the Scar at 60+ fps with very high settings for years to come. The only problem might be the fan noise. That's the main issue on my now old Titan. It's perfect for 99 % of games, but the noise is starting to be annoying.
Remember that laptop with a dock that has two desktop liquid cooled 1080Ti cards? I wish manufacturers can come up with a 7900XT and 4080 desktop cards in the same dock working in tandem for current gen laptops.
I simply love that everyone is talking about Laptop's power consumption being used half of the 4090 desktop delivers. The fact that you can still make a cheaper build with desktop than laptop :D
You can't be serious, that is what I've said, you can build a cheap PC unlike the laptop, the monitors doesn't have to be top end, it's basically your personal preference unlike the laptop.@@Qthetar
@@boyfromtexasschool8963 if you’re buying a 4090 gpu you would want a top monitor and all those things to max out your investment. You also need to know wtf you’re doing. @@boyfromtexasschool8963 you can buy another laptop, there are hundreds of models on a market. Also, you should include a top-tier keyboard, mouse (as we have a touchpad on a laptop) and 4k 144hz monitor. And you still can't bring a desktop PC anywhere with yourself or work on-a-go. PC will consume more electricity and will take a lot of space on a desk. Rich people also value their time, so they dont want to spend time for choosing parts, waiting fot shipping, building etc. (sorry for my English)
Hi. I got 3 significant questions: 1. How much is the total build price of the desktop? 2. Will that difference in Wattage compromise a lot to the electric bill? 3. Is the Scar 18 Optimus disabled during that time? Thanks @TestingGames
Definitely going with another Sager laptop for my next purchase, and can't wait for the insane performance from a 4090 (or whatever will be out by the time I have the finances again). Thankfully my old Sager that I got back in 2014 with a 980m is still kicking along strong ❤
The way I'm looking at this is, which one looks more realistic. I am looking at things like the signs (anything that has lettering on it), the buildings, the plants, the car you're driving and the cars around it, the character you're playing and the npcs, barrier railings, windows, landscape in the distance such as mountains etc etc.. Which one brings out the colors better without oversaturation or under saturation. Which one is closest to normal brightness in the setting you're seeing on screen. Which one brings out the textures correctly. Which one is focused better. It is extremely hard to tell which one is better. It seems like the desktop bounces between having great focus in the foreground and having great focus in the background. Sometimes the textures look better on the laptop, other times the textures look better on the desktop. I think the signs look better on the laptop and the windows look better on the desktop. The barrier railings look better on the laptop. Your car looks better on the laptop. The plants look better on the laptop. The dirt road looks better on the laptop. The rugs and the decorations on the floor look better on the laptop. The other cars look better on the laptop. The buildings (fairly close to your character) look better on the laptop. Once your character approaches the building and opens the door, the doors and the building look better on the desktop. The busts, armor suit and urns look better on the desktop. It's hard to tell with your character, sometimes it looks better on the laptop, other times it looks better on the desktop. I can't see any difference in the mountains or the sky. I also can't see any difference in the npcs. At the end of God of War the whole picture in general looks better on the desktop. When Hitman is indoors, that looks better on the laptop. In The Witcher 3 the building's close to your character look better on the desktop and the buildings in the background look better on the laptop and the mountains far off in the distance look better on the desktop, and the water looks better on the laptop. Now, if the laptop had the same FPS as the desktop, it would really be worth it!

With the CPUs you expect it because they clearly state the CPUs with different names, and their TDP, but the GPU is just straight up the same name as the desktop counterpart which is like 50% faster
If I remember correctly if you run the desktop 4090 with an 80% PL you'll still get 95% of the performance. The 4090 desktop simply consumes significantly more power than it needs.

As good as performance of the laptop GPU is, it is still an absolute crime they are both called "4090". Stat/spec wise it's a 4080M at best. Calling it a 4090 is pure marketing wank. Prices for one of these laptops is also wank, especially considering you can build a desktop with an actual 4090 for the same price.
Its because of the Power consumption, look at the Watts. Notebook draws (CPU+GPU) about 220-230, while the Desktop draws like the double of energy. Does the Desktop version has two power in cables?
For anyone who didn’t know, RTX 4090m is the same chip as RTX 4080 desktop, both are ADA 103. They have the same core counts but still 4090m performs worse than a desktop 4080. Where I live I can build a PC with a Ryzen 9 7950x3D and RTX 4090 for the price of this 4090 laptop.

You're wrong. You can't defy the laws of physics. No matter what, you can not cool 400-450w of power in a small space. Any space that can, would not be a laptop anymore unless you had bionic legs. Have you seen the size of a 4090? Do you think they make them that size because it's fashionable? No, it 's because it requires insane heat conductivity and massive fans(to blow away that heat). No amount of liquid metal, rare heat conductive metals, or vapor chambers can ever overcome that limitation.

There is a %50 performance drop. That means almost an entire GPU Gen class difference. While it gives playable framerates at already old 1-5 year old games, nobody cares about the difference. But please look at Hogwarts benchmark... 20-30 fps vs 50-60 fps. That means unplayable vs playable. I know you can use DLSS, Frame Generation etc. and make the game playable. But still there is a insanely huge difference in performance and both GPU's are labeled as "4090". The most important thing here is laptop versions should be renamed like the old days as 4090m and should have a "price tag" according to its "performance". That laptop is not using 4090, its 4090M. A downclocked, lower powered version of it.
Higher power , higher performance all things equal. Only Apple thinks it reinvented the wheel and it is somehow more efficient ignoring the fact it has been relyng on the shoulders of a giant -TSMC and its more efficient processes. Now, that only the gpu for windows is built on a comparable process to that of Apple Silicon (cpus are still 1.5 generations behind regarding lithography for windows), Apple is feeling the heat. It has always been like that. Desktops are able to support a higher power envelope. If performance between a desktop and a laptop were close, then either not all things would be equal , or something funny would be going on.

This laptop looks amazing really. I currently use a six-year-old MSI Titan with a GTX 1080 and it still runs most games satisfyingly. I can't begin to imagine what gaming would look like on the Scar. 6:17 - how low 0.1% laptop is better????
