The standard is brown bro. If they meet brown they are brown.. working for you doesn't change the meaning of the color the belt is supposed to resemble
Ran into Eliot at a bjj competition where he walked around shoulder-checking everyone back in about 2007. Huge dbag and watching him get smoked in MMA was always my favorite hobby. Saw it live at ROF, great night.
My academy is led by 1 black belt and maybe 2-3 other brown belts, one of who has a significant role by leading a couple small time classes. Honeslty I don’t know where I would be without that brown belt and his leadership because I know my professor can’t do everything. Respect for looking for a leader in that man
When he would spar with the student, the student would give up under the pressure. He didn’t promote him then. Once his student would spar without giving up and always giving it his all, then he promoted him. The important thing was the willingness to fight the entire round instead of giving up just because your losing.
Apparently some celebrities are actually brown belt. Well this will be shocking Nicolas cage, Jim Carrey and obviously Jackie Chan too. I am surprised that Jim is one of them because he is best known for his comedic roles. But he is actually strong in real life. Wow But Steven seagal is more stronger at martial arts and Bruce lee, everyone knows that.
When I got my first brown belt, it was because I won a regional tournament Jr. Open weight division and I was only 113lbs. No meat head gave it to me I took it.
Okay...why would it be okay to give up at any belt. You shouldnt be caving against anyone. Its BJJ...worse thing that is going to happen is your going to get tired. If your caving due to fatigue...bjj probably isnt for you. And what difference does it matter if its a high level purple smashing a white or you smashing a purple? Both suck to the person getting ran over.
The editing/subtitle misspellings/subtitled emojis/dings and clicks are exactly why I dont follow this instructor. Dont talk about discipline in the format of special ed. You're approaching 50 yrs old (or have had aged poorly) but definitely not gen z so why communicate like a kid??
This is motivating as hell, reminds me of military training. Same ethos 💥

Damn right
Wrong. Character and attitude matters
One reason u didnt give him a belt: ego
Last night I gave him a brown belt, BUT I didn’t give him the brown belt. So yeah I gave him the brown belt..
"standard has to be higher".... standard should always be the same regardless, high.
Bro gave carl johnson a brown belt 💀
Proceeds to choke out Balla Fools in Temple Drive

Redefining belt standards to be a 'little longer' is convenient for many business models.
Good job Christopher Jenkins let’s go! Sorry this man broke your arm, prayers for a fast recovery! 🙏
Congrats Cornelius Jermichaels 👏🏼
My jujitsu place is ran by 1 professor and 2 purple belts
Time to move gyms
Love this so much!
Wish more places had this mentality towards getting high ranks.
Awesome master, oss 🥋
What does cave mean? What about people that gained black belts in bjj from the kodokan judo institute?
Give up
@@paleo704 what, can you write as what context?

@@rospina0411 I dont know what this has to do with educated context in side of jiujitsu. " Give up" Give up, what are you evil, paleo704?
@@veteransowhat5669in the context I think he means just letting your opponent advance position on you uncontested.
What's the jujitsu kata for brown belt?
Did brenda schaub buy a black belt from you?
I find at brown belt if ego takes over the person has a long way to go into black 1st Dan
Knowing these things is so crucial, nuanced and often not explained. Thanks for the insight brother
Is the first gym pic at ETC Denver? If so I train Muay Thai there it’s cool to see the gym on my feed😄
You don’t need to be a tournament fighter to advance in your belts. Real self defense is where it’s at.
True but it gets you better bc you’re fighting a variety of people and trains you to fight at a higher intensity and gets u used to it

good coach
Bjj desperately needs more belt colors. This is BS

If you don't know how to fight, and you don't cave, you get injured. Chill with the ego.
Stop overusing the sound effects old head 😂
mixing business and belts is not good

nice video, little tip - don't over use the sound effects, it got really annoying and watered down the point you were tryna to convey.
Eliot!
BS. Just politics and favoritism. I’ve seen people get promoted that absolutely suck, just cause they’re boys with the professor.

Yo moms
Go away bud
you’re gonna loose him to some other gym that will value his assets
