Great video Simon, keep up the good work showing the world how gorgeous North Yorkshire is! The drone footage at the end is beautifully shot, nice work.
I'm not sure how many times I've watched this video. It may sound silly but when I find myself stressed out, I can watch your videos and listen to the music and it helps distract me and takes me away from my problems, if only for a short time. Thanks Simon.....and Meg. :-)
Such a relaxed video. I can see all the hard work you go into to make these videos, the walks, the video tutorials, the footage going to different locations and the drone footage as well. That's a lot to take home and edit it all in such a lovely organised way. Well done, not a lot of people have this kind of passion and patience. Just to make this video, where you have made such a chilled out piece with all the beauty captured in every way you could and your thoughts on photographs and settings and everything... And of course Meg, God she's a happy wee dote. Just wanted you to know, your hard work is appreciated immensely.
Hi Simon. Loved the first two Videos - looking forward to the next ones . Im a freelance Tog here in Ireland, but love to wander out for the landscape shots . Your stuff really inspires - Drone photography also beautiful . Keep up the great work Simon ! Andy Cork - ( Born London ) :-)
Hi Andy! Sorry I missed this earlier as for some reason it dropped into the spam folder :-/ Thanks very much for watching and for your kind words - much appreciated :)
This video was definatly not all over the place.. I really like the down to earth, yet highly artistic way you manage to put this together. Great videos you have posted so far, and i will definatly keep an eye out for future things you upload. thanks for sharing your early morning experiences with us.
Hi Shady. It felt disorganised when filming but admittedly it came together a bit better than expected :). Many thanks for your kind words and for watching.
Another spot on video! And no apologies needed. Somedays are busts, as far as photography are concerned, but, as you said, it's still great to be out! But, still, this was no bust! Keep the videos coming!
What an amazing view across the mist from the top, definitely worth the hike. I know how much goes into making videos like these, so I appreciate every B-roll, close up and panning shot that give us context around each image and that helps convey the story of your journey. Thanks mate for bringing us along on this adventure.
Thank you again, Andrew! Yeah there's quite a lot to think about when you're also trying to seek out compositions and soak up the surroundings but perhaps it becomes easier with practice :)
Brilliant!.... great to see the honesty about what you do... not every excursion will result in an epic photo. Everyday is a school day my friend. I'm looking forward to the next instalment 👍🏼
The photograph at 10:05 min. is outstanding. An image to print large and hanging on a wall. I am currently watching all your vids i did not watch yet. Your photographic eye for woodland is such an inspiration to me to go out and try this kind of photography myself. Thanks Simon!! And greetings to Meg :-)
Nice. Enjoyed a winter morning in the middle of the summer. Its indeed all about the enjoyment. Beautiful shots. Greetings from a Belgian landscape photographer.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your 2 videos (and the photos too). What can be better than being close to nature and photographing it. Look forward to your future videos. Cheers.
GREAT video. The drone shots of you and your dog along the ridge... classic. Reminds me of some backpacking trips with a wonderful dog I had as a kid. Mornings?... She couldn't contain her bounding energy. Nice memories come back seeing the two of you.
I love the intimacy of your photography and that you go into the woodlands rather than only observing them from the outside. I look forward to more of your videos. There is a phrase I first read in a book of Eliot Porter's photographs that describes your work nicely, "intimate landscapes." That is very much what I strive for in my work. I appreciate when you nail it in yours.
Hi Tom! Thank you very for much for watching and for your kind words - much appreciated! I think intimate is the right word as it implies a personal connection, which I think is extremely important :)
Simon Baxter just curious, but are you Thomas heaton's friend? He did a video couple weeks ago where he went out into the rain with a fella named Simon.
Simon Baxter a fine color it is, Mr. Baxter, sir. oddly enough, I tried to recently get a similar color outdoor jacket. didn't have my size unfortunately so I opted for a dark green. looks nice, but that fiery orange is mint. well, see you in the next video. have a great day
Brilliant Video, Love the Drone shots, it really shows off the stunning area and captured the light and all those colours looked really Magical......Keep up the great work Simon.
Enjoyed the video. Love the photos. They are beautiful. Your dog seemed to be fighting falling asleep in the end. :-) Bet she had a wonderful time out there with you.
Beauty is this, Simon. After your previous video I was inspired to get out myself and explore some woodland around North Yorkshire that I had never fully explored. Was very much rewarded for my efforts!
Thoroughly enjoyed both of your videos. The imagery and narration was excellent and both offered a very polished professional look. A breath of fresh air really.
Really appreciate that, Christopher, as the narration is the tricky bit. Not easy to articulate the thought process behind images is it's very much instinctive and emotional. Cheers.
I love the way you edit your videos! It really brings back the memories seeing your dog running around you while hiking in those beautiful hills. Can't wait to see more you got me hooked! lol Have a great day
Again indeed a new gorgeous video and with a stunning view. The pic of the tree in the foreground of the other tree is really nice and would get such a nice mood in BW (matter of taste for sure^^). Enjoy nature and looking for the next video
Simon Baxter I understand, was't shooting that much in BW until recently (purchased a X100T for family trip). Seeing directly in BW in the evf was so different that I got caught in the BW shooting mode for a while ^^. Anyway, keep shooting what you like that is the most important to get the passion flowing right :)
Stumbled across your video and LOVE your four-legged companion. So well behaved and obviously very happy to be with you. Appreciate you sharing your process and really liked the excellent drone footage.
These videos are absolutely sublime, I love them. For the days I can't get out to shoot and hike, your vlogs can be therapeutic! haha, well done Mr. Baxter. Also, your dog is wonderful.
Really appreciate that, Nick. Photography is extremely therapeutic for me so I'm pleased if that shows. Meg will be getting an even bigger head with all these nice comments about her ;)
Lovely video which echoes my own trip out this morning.Trying a new location, getting lost en route, the light and clouds didn't really play ball, but it was a superb few hours of peace and enjoyment of the environment and the experience. Well worth the morning even if no new ground breaking shots. Looking forward to your next instalment!
I enjoyed your video and the woodlands one I seen yesterday. You inspired me to go down to the local woods and get a few pictures. Keep up the good work!
Love everything about what you do. From the insight your videos provide about photography, to your personalty that is a breath of fresh air in this space. Looking forward to more content!
When the sun broke above the fog bank while you were still hiking up the mountain... I knew you were late. ;) Beautiful views. Love the aerial video footage TFS. Subscribed to your You Tube and Flickr feed, and looking forward to more updates. I'm sure you'll have a Photobook for us sooner or later.
Haha, you're absolutely right. I honestly wasn't expecting the conditions to be so nice. A morning to remember though :) Many thanks for the support and comments!
Your photos are MAGICAL,Simon! Enjoyed the vedio like always, making me feel like I was right there enjoying the frost and the clear sunrise. Beautiful.
You have a real talent for composing beautiful photographs. I have really enjoyed your videos and look forward to more. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Wow some great views and amazing video. The views using the drone were fantastic. I'm really looking forward to your future videos. Also what a great dog you have. Regards, Peter
Fantastic work, I love being in the forest in the fog, cold or anytime where I can find some alone time. Looking forward to see more of your work, and just maybe it will help me get back into shooting landscapes after a very long hiatus.
Nice work. those two tree pictures came out great. I was out the other day here in Stockholm, Sweden and tried to find something simmilar. Couldent find it then but will try again.
I really hope people appreciate the effort that goes into these videos, Simon! Whilst this is very BTS from a photography perspective, the vlogging style is top drawer. The angles, constant going back to retrieve the camera, switching between ground and aerial, and telling a story of your experiences and effort is inspiring. Cheers, from across the way in Chester! Bravo :-)
Sorry, Andy - I thought I'd already replied to your comment! Thank you very much for your kind words - much appreciated! It can be very tricky to produce a video and try to capture good images at the same time but it's an enjoyable challenge :) Has your Mavic arrived yet? You won't be disappointed!
No it's taking ages to update shipping! You must have been one of the first batch to order in sept/oct am I right? I'm looking at heading over to Snowdonia soon with jameswallacephotography to try something like this - it'll put it (and us!) to the test. Looking forward to more Simon.
Yeah, I ordered from Wex on the day or day after they were announced. I'm yet to take my drone to anywhere dramatic - Snowdon will be great! By the way, what does BTS stand for?
Lucky you. I wish I had, I got caught up in the whole DJI supply debacle. Yeah some stunning places around there. Ah sorry Simon it's because I work in video production - "behind the scenes" :-)
Really nice videos. I also like to shot forest. I will try to frame one tree into another like you've done. The videos are a charm to watch and also impressed of good compositions and nice process of the photos. Hope to see more videos soon!
Excellent photographs and drone footage, Simon. I miss that kind of landscape. I moved from the UK to the US eleven years ago. I don't miss the bitter cold though!
Thanks very much, Matt! I'd love to do some photography in the US, you have some amazing landscapes! Haha, I like the seasons, I just wish ours were more predictable.
I hear you. Predictability of the weather is something we definitely have in San Diego. And you're right! I need to get out and take advantage of some of the landscape opportunities here!
Amazing shots, beautiful places and very elegant and stylish work. England is becoming my favourite place to visit after watching your videos. I´m also susbcribed to Heaton´s channel of course. I´d like to have those kind of forest here in Spain but there´s nothing similar at least here in the south. Waiting for your next video, keep it up.
Another fine video, Simon. No apologies necessary. I appreciate how much work goes into making something like this and really look forward to more. The photos are awesome, as usual!
Great video Simon, keep up the good work showing the world how gorgeous North Yorkshire is!
The drone footage at the end is beautifully shot, nice work.
Thanks very much, Kaeru! I'm passionate about shooting locally so I can't wait to share more :)
This is good enough for television. Even people not interested in photography would find this watchable.
Very much appreciated :) If it helps to inspire people to even just go for a walk then I'd be thrilled!
I agree... immaculately executed and produced vlogs
I'm not sure how many times I've watched this video. It may sound silly but when I find myself stressed out, I can watch your videos and listen to the music and it helps distract me and takes me away from my problems, if only for a short time. Thanks Simon.....and Meg. :-)
That's very kind of you and means a lot, Cheryl. Many thanks as always :)
As Cheryl said below I've found myself watching through your wonderful films once again for a calming influence and for some inspiration
Awesome. Thanks for taking us with and I'm glad the drone wasn't dead after its swim.
Thank you! Hehe, yeah it turned out to just be a water damaged battery and cracked prop.
Such a relaxed video. I can see all the hard work you go into to make these videos, the walks, the video tutorials, the footage going to different locations and the drone footage as well. That's a lot to take home and edit it all in such a lovely organised way. Well done, not a lot of people have this kind of passion and patience. Really enjoyed watching this. The frost and fog makes for gorgeous photos and the countryside is beautiful. Looking forward to more.
Thank you, George. Much appreciated :)

My Goodness. What a breathtaking first image. Absolutely immense!!

Hi Shady. It felt disorganised when filming but admittedly it came together a bit better than expected :). Many thanks for your kind words and for watching.
Lovely video Simon, with great drone footage. And the dog seemed to enjoy herself.
Thank you, Steven :) Yes, Meg has a great time and it's great having her company.
Another spot on video! And no apologies needed. Somedays are busts, as far as photography are concerned, but, as you said, it's still great to be out! But, still, this was no bust! Keep the videos coming!

Excellent again Simon. Love that you take the dog with you!!
Thanks again, Jonathan! I love having Meg with me. Sometimes she misbehaves but she's also great fun :)
Brilliant!.... great to see the honesty about what you do... not every excursion will result in an epic photo. Everyday is a school day my friend. I'm looking forward to the next instalment 👍🏼
Big thanks as always my good friend ;)

Love that shot at around 10:00! I'm glad I randomly came across this video just now, it makes me happy for winter to come soon!
Love the shot of you and your dog. He looks like a fine photography companion.
The photograph at 10:05 min. is outstanding. An image to print large and hanging on a wall. I am currently watching all your vids i did not watch yet. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your 2 videos (and the photos too). What can be better than being close to nature and photographing it. Look forward to your future videos. Cheers.

Finally, a photographer channel I can stay glued to. Need to up my game! Well done Simon, great work.
Many thanks, Darron. Much appreciated!
Nice one. The eye of the photographer.
Thank you, Joao :)
GREAT video. The drone shots of you and your dog along the ridge... classic. Reminds me of some backpacking trips with a wonderful dog I had as a kid. Mornings?... She couldn't contain her bounding energy. Nice memories come back seeing the two of you.
Thanks very much, Rashoop! Dogs bring so much joy and energy to a walk don't they? Love her to bits :)
I love the intimacy of your photography and that you go into the woodlands rather than only observing them from the outside. I look forward to more of your videos. Wow, what a landscape!

Thank you very much ☺️
Simon Baxter just curious, but are you Thomas heaton's friend? He did a video couple weeks ago where he went out into the rain with a fella named Simon.
Yeah, that was me. The same bright orange jacket ;)

The drone footage pulling away from the frosted tree and rising up was just magic. The effort you go to is appreciated by many. Keep up the good work.
Cheers.

Thanks again, Gregory! Yep, I bet it would work well as a B&W image but I just don't shoot B&W I'm afraid. Perhaps I might try it more in the future.
Simon Baxter I understand, was't shooting that much in BW until recently (purchased a X100T for family trip). Seeing directly in BW in the evf was so different that I got caught in the BW shooting mode for a while ^^. Many thanks for you comments, William. I really hope it can help inspire you to get out again ☺️
Absolutely stunning! Photos are great. And I love cinematic drone footage. Like from Hollywood movie.
Many thanks, Juraj! :)

Thank you, Andreas! I have lots of trips out without capturing an image, just got to keep trying :)
I really hope people appreciate the effort that goes into these videos, Simon! Whilst this is very BTS from a photography perspective, the vlogging style is top drawer. Bravo :-)
PS. My Mavic is arriving this week, after way, way too long.
Sorry, Andy - I thought I'd already replied to your comment! Thank you very much for your kind words - much appreciated! It can be very tricky to produce a video and try to capture good images at the same time but it's an enjoyable challenge :)
Has your Mavic arrived yet? You won't be disappointed!
