The fact that you can be cheated on by your spouse with half the town, and then be forced to give them full custody of the kids, the house you built, and alimony on top of that is ridiculous, and the perfect recipe to create a murder. I bet that if the legal system wasn’t this unfair and unbalanced when divorces are considered, a sizable part of these horrid crimes would never happen.
I know for a fact in Florida this is NOT the case. I had a coworker that not only cheated on her husband, but the child they had didn’t belong to her husband. She thought she was going to get child support, alimony, the main residence. I remember she was telling us she needed to come up with $10K to pay her lawyer. About a week later, the nice car she was in was gone and she pulled up in this old beat up SUV. In other words, during the initial divorce proceedings, her affair got public because the paternity test the judge ordered for child support came back the child wasn’t his (the child was 6 at the time). The main residence was his, he just added her name to the deed when they got together, nope, she couldn’t get that. The only stuff she walked away with was a rental property they purchased together, which he willingly gave to her, he didn’t fight that, and the child. She didn’t get any alimony, no type of support. And the kicker is she never accepted any responsibility for her actions. She was mad she didn’t get the main residence the whole time.
@@HarWatSin don’t even try this “men made the system” idiocy. The “system” was created and constantly updated due to the actions of lawyers, judges, politicians etc who not only were both male and female, but who were VOTED by both males and females, which would make your point completely moot even IF men somehow acted like some unified tribe who does everything for its own advantage (which they absolutely don’t). Also don’t strawman us, because nobody is justifying murder here and you know it. My point is that the system is unequal and unbalanced, which is proven by the extreme disparity in all statistics that concern child custody, alimony, etc. And yes, everybody expects some disparity in favor of women due to the statistical prevalence of them being the victims of abuse rather than the perpetrators and so on, but the disparity is just massive beyond belief, and when so many people have their entire lives destroyed through divorce court, some of them statistically are bound to go over the edge and commit heinous actions. Of course it’s their fault, and of course this makes them despicable monsters. There are no questions about it so don’t try to say that I’m justifying them because I AM NOT. This system simply isn’t balanced, because the society that it was formed to act on has changed really a lot in the last several decades, and divorce laws haven’t stayed updated enough. If a man gets married and his wife leaves him just because (ie no abuse, no cheating, etc), statistically more than 80% of the times the man will end up losing while the woman will end up gaining, and this has (at best) the effect of incentivizing women to exploit this and men not to marry in the first place. Again, this is just my opinion, but such an easily abusable system incentivizes the worst personality traits in both men and women, and if it was just tweaked a bit (not much, just a little bit) to have actually equal standards, maybe some more tragedies could possibly be prevented. That’s all.

I'm 12 minutes in and I don't even know how she can come into play. I've become very curious now Edit: right after hitting send I got to the "next case".....
Right?! This is the comment i posted . . . I've probably watched a thousand or more cases and interrogations over the years and I think the first case with Gerard was the first time where I've seen that the detectives actually felt bad for a suspect. You could hear it in their voice. You could see it in their body language. They truly felt bad for the dude cos that could happen to any man and every man could and may react differently but you could see how bad they felt for him. Gerard thought that what he was doing by working all the time and making lots of money for his family was the right thing to do but obviously his wife needed something else. I'm sure she loved the money he made which is obvious because she went after the house, the kid and his money immediately but she still needed more, whatever that was. There's no guarantee she would have stayed with Gerard if he spent more time with her and that's what I think the detectives realized. This could be them in this situation with their wives at home. I genuinely saw them moved by his situation and that is a first for me I think. I've never seen detectives feel sorry for the suspect in this way 🤘🏻🇬🇧

I don’t buy his story.
I think if the police didn’t get the kid out of the house he could’ve died next (we already know he was trying to do a spousal murder/suicide, it’s not that far off from a family annihilation) and that kid would rather have both his parents in his life instead of a murdered mother and an imprisoned father who could have chosen differently (he’s almost 16 now, too bad his mom got murdered I’m sure she’d be excited to see him in his prom suit or graduation gap and gown)

💯
Absolutely
As a woman I agree. It should be 50/50 but majority of the time the wife walks away with at least 75% of everything.

I've never seen detectives feel sorry for the suspect in this way

I guarantee the detective did not feel anything for a controlling, possessive lunatic with a self serving story.
He didn't feel sorry for him bc they knew the guy had a 3 hour swat standoff with his kid still inside and stabbed his wife not 2-3 times but THIRTEEN times before cutting her throat. They also prob knew that he was lying about the cheating as he got to think through his alibi while he was held in psych for a few days.

Women only cheat on weak men. He wasn't man enough to have a faithful woman and any woman he was with would have cheated because he is low sexual value. We are all animals, driven more by instinct that we are comfortable admitting. Its a well documented cycle, if you start showing too many weak or effeminate mannerisms, she will be driven on a primal level to find a stronger man. After 10 years of marriage I learned my wife got pregnant with another man . She cheated on me for a few months before she got pregnant. It was the most painful betrayal ever and it happened 16 years ago and I'm still not the same man I was before that. I live in NY and I learned where she was living with the guy. Luckily for all of us they were in Florida and I couldn't get there. That emotional pain can make the most passive man into a killer. I'm blessed with a new wife and a new life. This really hit home for me. I was involved with a married woman on and off for 4 years. I used to tell myself so many lies to justify it.
“They don’t have kids”
“It’s not my problem”
I eventually told my dad what was happening and he begged me to break it off, he told me, “I don’t want you to end up dead”
Seeing These cases makes me realise how badly some men react. Take my advice and don’t be the other man.
R the other woman , its rare that people get their happy ending through someone else's misery , cheating is never ok , no matter men r women , If I ever though my husband wanted to be with someone else , I'd let her have him and not blink an eye , a cheater isn't even were fighting for , I'd fight for , bye bye .
I'm glad you got out you deserves better
Yeah, it is just not worth it.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. You lucked out. Do that to the wrong person and it could be much worse than a case like this. Hope you've changed, but usually people don't.
If a woman cheats on you once, walk away. If you accept it she'll see it as weakness and either do it again or never respect you.
Well said, !!
weakness? I couldn.t care less what she does if Im doing me. Jealousy is sign of weakness Open relationships are for strong, confident people who know that at the end of the day, we are better off together than apart.

Typical abuser, always blaming the victim. It’s blatantly obvious that guy’s wife was in fear for her life and was trying to leave him. So of course he makes up this bs infidelity accusation to justify his actions. Just like an abuser they always leave clues though. Notice how he demeans her position as a SAHM. He didn’t believe she deserved any money of her own despite raising his children and keeping his home. He kept saying “his money” and “I don’t know where she got the money to leave.” Financial abuse is another tool of control they use. I was really pissed the detectives didn’t press him on anything and he only god 40 YEARS. Should have been life in prison- full stop.
The first guy got completely screwed. People can only take so much before they snap. Not justifying him killing her but the sentence needs to reflect the situation.
Nobody deserves to have that happen to them. Just do the right thing and nobody gets hurt.
