These are some really good tips. Getting older I notice the feeling of sitting too long on a chair, eating a bunch of cookies, bad sleep, and bad dinner. Even when I was 20 I noticed it, but I learned to ignore it... This ignorance is a necessary function of keeping a full-time job. But now I realize that frequent breaks and walks, and avoiding bad food and snacks are crucial. Even back when I was 20 it would have made a difference. I would have hit targets a lot earlier.

This is very interesting, and very clear, thank you. I have a question: I do wonder, particularly with supplements, what is a good age to start? I ask as I cant find data out there on whether there is a risk of starting too young (say 20s or 30s) taking supplements that your makes / has (such as Collagen), would this lead to the body relying on supplements, and no longer making as much itself, meaning you need more and more supplements as you get older? Or is this concern unfounded? Thanks.
Good video but you forgot a biggie in your list of interventions for longevity: "Have close friends, obtain joy from social gatherings, have higher meaning & purpose in life, be part of a strong community, be in the company of good people and chit chat. Reach out to at least two friends for support (logistical and emotional) during times of stress, even if it’s through the internet. But if they’re within arms reach, go ahead and hug them, often! Surround yourself with people that uplift you! Maintain deep, supportive social relationships."
Thank you so much for this detailed roadmap. It’s quite overwhelming, but luckily I’m already doing maybe half of it. I do wonder whether these huge programs cause more stress than good. I don’t know. Just a thought.
Hello Dr Brad….I recently watched a video from Dr valter longo … his view is that high protein is fueling aging and the key to reducing aging in layer life is to reduce protein… Im getting confused…
This is great advice. I appreciate very much that you separate the scientifically proven methods from those which are just "internet hype" and that you do your own literature search instead of just repeating what other influencers or "scientists" say. Only one tiny criticism: At the end you recommend melatonin. Nothing wrong with that if a person has real trouble falling asleep and nothing else works, like morning sunlight, avoiding caffeine late in the day and so on. However, I would stronly advise against taking melatonin if a person has a more or less healthy sleep pattern or just a bad night from time to time! Yes, those people do exist :) I believe you should have emphasized that more.
Great list, love your content! But I'm in FULL disagreement regarding your stance on whole body MRI scans. I've worked in hospitals for 30 years, and see this scenario daily: CT and/or MRI identifies a tumor that's been growing for years, sometimes decades. Patient is in stage 4 cancer & given months (sometimes just weeks) to live since the cancer has been growing unchecked for so long. Also - my cousin just had a kidney removed due to late stage cancer, his surgeon confirmed it had been growing for 10-12 years. His sole symptom was back pain a month before. Question: Why wouldn't we all want to detect these masses the moment they're large enough to appear on a scan? I get a full body MRI scan annually & it's detected all sorts of potential health issues that I'm able to stay ahead of since I knew YEARS BEFORE SYMPTOM ONSET. I'm thankful for that full body MRI option - although it's self-pay (but doesn't cost as much as one may think with private companies who offer them). Thanks for listening!
17:00 uhm actually there is recent science showing that chemical sunscreen in fact r not "necessarily" safe they r...to say it lightly..."experimental"...at best many substances that ppl used to think that r safe that r in them have never been tested long enough and some have not too long ago shown r readily absorbed (that previously were thought to not be absorbed as much), watch dr greger's vids on it
Dr. Stanfield - Thank you - This is Fantastic ! (You might add on the cover how many medical study papers, reports and articles you have screened to write this Rosetta Stone. Readers would then understand the weight that this work should be given.)
Big big fan and I supplement your stack)) I'd like to suggest a reference Dr. Robert Lustig and his talk about the difference between saturated fat from fat meat vs dairy, the super interesting fact to me was that sarurated fat from dairy is Anti inflammatory while the one from meat isn't but also isn't pro inflammatory
Excellent overview of what is necessary for optimal health and longevity, however, I must find fault with your advice of using Fluoride toothpaste (Fluorine being much more active than Iodine results in diminished uptake of Iodine by the thyroid) and mammograms which according to some studies cause more cancer than they detect due to the ionizing radiation. Your comment on this would be much appreciated.
Too many reps can be boring and for some is an issue on joints. For me I focus on slow and control reps, you dont need as much weight, it allows you to mantain good form, and you dont need that many reps to reach failure.
Take care of trimethylglycin. It reduces homocysteine. Very good. BUT increases in some circumstances TMAO. That's very bad and can lead to heart attacks!
Another significant intervention you could have included was: sufficient daytime sunlight exposure OR sufficient Vitamin D3 supplement (ideally in combination with vitamin K2 and magnesium supplement).
Hi Dr Brad! 1. May I ask why we need to take glycine and nac, instead of directly taking the glutathione? 2. Is nac + glycine better than NMN and Nac, in terms of anti aging ? Thanks !
@bn33309 -,He does have a video explaining how the formation of glutathione (& resulting ATP) should come (in exogenous supplements) via (taking) NAC & Glycine, so that the glutathione can be formed (& balanced) naturally within the cell. OTOH, taking an exogenous supplement of the glutathione molecule alone can result in the formation/accumulation of ROS (reactive oxygen species), resulting in Oxidative Stress to the cell.
It might have been implied but needs to be said straight out, another problem with mouse studies is that they are naturally seed eating vegetarians. We are naturally omnivores. So studies about protein with mice will naturally be a bit skewed. Also implied but not said is that mice being much smaller than humans have a much faster metabolism. So times have to be scaled up or down when doing comparison.
Dr. Stanfield, do you support keto focused diet?(replacing carbohydrates energy with fats energy, that convert into ketones and are the best energy source)
Right! It's a vicious circle one on it. And, fluoride, not needed as he said here, we need it, not true. I stopped having cavities once I went on non-fluoride toothpaste just by whole food diet. The type of fluoride in the toothpaste doesn't do much for your teeth beside poisoning you!
it's mostly poorly tolerated though. it's literal chemical castration of the most androgenic male hormone in the body and now evidence shows that it lowers important hormones for brain function....there's no free lunch. Drugs have dangerous effects.
Dr Brad I would like to know your thoughts on an advanced vegan pro collagen formula I'm currently using , it is a complete plant based protein powder with full spectrum amino acids and specifically rich in glycine proline and hydroxyproline . Many thanks for the extremely valuable information you provided in this video🙏 will definitely watch it over and over again 💚
@@laurieparis2203 right... Like Dr. B is supposed to guess at what this collagen supplement brand is - ?? (I doubt he'd answer anyway, even if he did know the brand). Other than that, the idea of a PB 'true' collagen peptide formula, sounds like an oxymoron to me. (since collegen peptides are derived from animal sources, rather than plants "True collagen is not derived from plants, and your body may have a more challenging time making collagen from plant-based collagen." Also, proline & L-glutamate - (proline is biosynthesized in the body by way of L-glutamate) are both non-essential AA's, as is proline. Hydroxyproline is found in mamalian collagen & helps, along with proline, to stabilize collagen in the body. Adding proline & hydroxyproline to a PB collagen, sound more to me like a marketing ploy, than anything else. I also would like to know what this brand is, because (my best guess) is that it's hype that's target-marketed to vegans. Just my humble opinion, but a fairly educated one.
Hi Dr. Brad. You are talking about a multivitamin without megadosing but at the same time you have 50.000% of vitamine B12. Seems like a lot... And what will happen if you suddenly decide to stop taking such a big dose of vitamine B12? And when will MicroVitamin be available in the rest of Europe?
Fasting is the best thing you can do for potential longevity benefits. Some benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time, including in the heart and lungs. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria, plaques and viruses by the immune system. It will also remove any 'foreign material' like spikes that are not supposed to be there. Whether natural or unnatural in origin.. Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Fasting increases nitric oxide release. Fasting restores NAD+ to healthy levels. Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Reflexes and short term memory are increased. Telomeres are lengthened and fasting also increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors. After 72 hours or more fasted, your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune bodies, rejuvenating your entire immune system. This helps prevent the onset of new autoimmune conditions, which develop through a leaky gut and damaged immune system. Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures. Thymus is regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. The thymus also plays a vital role in fighting cancer. Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue! The obese will lose extra tissue like loose skin while fasting, but the skinny or frail will have increased growth hormone release than the obese, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness. When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell required for viruses to replicate. The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting. What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast. Most teas and herbs are OK. Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting. Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building. Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility, especially in women with PCOS. Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system in a similar way to CBD oil. One day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again! This reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function. Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers. Some patients may need continued acid reduction medication while fasting. Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose. Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention! Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with. Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. They also help with dementia and many other issues even if you take them while not fasting! Glycine and trimethylglycine can also be useful supplements while fasting that won't break ketosis and have many benefits. Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast and seek advice. @@davidflorez1196 yeah cardio everyday makes sense to me. I just disagree on weight lifting 5 times per week
@@amc1140Yeah 100% agree , in my 20’s I trained 5 consecutive days/wk for 2.5hrs per session & often by Friday I was often totally spent what I didn’t realise was I was emulating routines from fitness mags that were in reality “Steroid Routines” which were not realistic for the natural trainer it was just asking too much of the body even in my prime in terms of recovery , I think that Mike Mentzer’s analogy is totally right in the sense that less is more as long as when you train you train with intensity , conclusion hit the gym keep it short but keep it intense ,eat ,sleep, recover repeat the process 🤷♂️
Excellent! Thank you! One thing that you usually mention - living with a purpose. I think the research supports that. Maybe 15?
Thank you Dr. Brad for including adult vaccines in your health roadmap. Who here missed their 4-5-6-7th and 8th health booster ?
Good information, you should've added Taurine to the supplement list!
What about vitamin D and magnesium?
I was under the impression Dr Stansfield liked including those.
Perfect!!! Completed overall health!!!
Incredibly helpful!! Thank you so much!!
nice summary doc , tks such clear reasonable info
I just calculated my zone 2 heart rate: I am 220 years old hence (220-220)*0.6=0.
Thank you so much for this detailed roadmap. It’s quite overwhelming, but luckily I’m already doing maybe half of it. I do wonder whether these huge programs cause more stress than good. I don’t know. Just a thought.
Dr Brad is my go-to person for nutrition. Best on the Internet!
Hello Dr Brad….I recently watched a video from Dr valter longo … his view is that high protein is fueling aging and the key to reducing aging in layer life is to reduce protein… Im getting confused…
Thanks for the roadmap.
A Sincere Thank You, there’s so much fluff in the industry, it’s refreshing to have you on our side!
❤❤🎉 Wow, this comprehensive video is amazing, THANK YOU!!!❤❤🎉🎉
You are a legend, thank you!
great video!
A great video to bookmark. Thanks 👍🏽

uhm actually there is recent science showing that chemical sunscreen in fact r not "necessarily" safe
they r...to say it lightly..."experimental"...at best
many substances that ppl used to think that r safe that r in them have never been tested long enough and some have not too long ago shown r readily absorbed (that previously were thought to not be absorbed as much), watch dr greger's vids on it
Totally agree that we don't need gyms and equipment.
Got my sub this time. Thank you Sir.
Excellent report, thank you Dr Brad
Excellent! Thank you !
Only go to sleep when tired and go to bed/sleep the same time every day are two vastly different things that don't go together for me unfortunately.
The study on B3 was for topical not an oral supplement.
Limit coffee intake true..other studies have also confirmed that.
Too many reps can be boring and for some is an issue on joints. For me I focus on slow and control reps, you dont need as much weight, it allows you to mantain good form, and you dont need that many reps to reach failure.
Yes, I do two sets of 6-10 until failure twice a week full body. It’s intense so you don’t need more. Total time working out a week is 50 minutes.
Great topic!
D. Stanford; have you listened to Dr. Ali’s on Cholesterol. He is a cardiologist
Thank you doctor.
Is sinclair also wrong about "consuming sugar makes you age faster"?
Useful information
Take care of trimethylglycin. It reduces homocysteine. Very good. BUT increases in some circumstances TMAO. That's very bad and can lead to heart attacks!
Hi @drbradstanfield love your content, thanks for making it! How long after exercise should I wait to take antioxidant supplements? Thanks!
Brad, thanks 👍
Should sunscreen be applied even during winter?
Another significant intervention you could have included was: sufficient daytime sunlight exposure OR sufficient Vitamin D3 supplement (ideally in combination with vitamin K2 and magnesium supplement).
Excellent reference. Concise and all summarized in one video. Public Service Announcement! Thank you
Hi Dr Brad!
1. May I ask why we need to take glycine and nac, instead of directly taking the glutathione?
2. Is nac + glycine better than NMN and Nac, in terms of anti aging ?
Thanks !
He has other videos recommending NAC + glycine. Likely NMN as well. But he is against Reservitrol(?). The videos are on his channel.
Didn't mention what type of hyaluronic acid (super important!), or did I miss that?
the Potassium to Sodium ratio of 3 to1 has the best BP results.. Most people need to raise their potassium and NOT lower their sodium intake..
A big factor is stay away from medical drugs.
Right! It's a vicious circle one on it. And, fluoride, not needed as he said here, we need it, not true. I stopped having cavities once I went on non-fluoride toothpaste just by whole food diet. The type of fluoride in the toothpaste doesn't do much for your teeth beside poisoning you!
Depends on the drug. Finasteride if tolerated has benefits
it's mostly poorly tolerated though. it's literal chemical castration of the most androgenic male hormone in the body and now evidence shows that it lowers important hormones for brain function....there's no free lunch. Drugs have dangerous effects.
What are your thoughts on Primeadine?
I like this kind of videos about a healthy diet
I believe that intermittent (16 hours) fasting is mentioned here, but what about longer term fasting (36+ hours)?
Dr Brad I would like to know your thoughts on an advanced vegan pro collagen formula I'm currently using , it is a complete plant based protein powder with full spectrum amino acids and specifically rich in glycine proline and hydroxyproline .
Many thanks for the extremely valuable information you provided in this video🙏 will definitely watch it over and over again 💚
Hi Joann. Would you please share the brand name of your vegan amino acid formula? I would like to check it out. 🌱
@@laurieparis2203 sure👍it's igennus healthcare nutrition pure and essential advanced vegan pro-collagen
Pea protein is high in arginine which feeds viruses.
(since collegen peptides are derived from animal sources, rather than plants
"True collagen is not derived from plants, and your body may have a more challenging time making collagen from plant-based collagen."
Also, proline & L-glutamate - (proline is biosynthesized in the body by way of L-glutamate) are both non-essential AA's, as is proline. Hydroxyproline is found in mamalian collagen & helps, along with proline, to stabilize collagen in the body.
Adding proline & hydroxyproline to a PB collagen, sound more to me like a marketing ploy, than anything else.
I also would like to know what this brand is, because (my best guess) is that it's hype that's
target-marketed to vegans. Just my humble opinion,
but a fairly educated one.
Hi Dr. Brad. You are talking about a multivitamin without megadosing but at the same time you have 50.000% of vitamine B12. Seems like a lot... And what will happen if you suddenly decide to stop taking such a big dose of vitamine B12? And when will MicroVitamin be available in the rest of Europe?
I eat eggs, meat, fish, salads and sometimes one fruit, not every day, only when I do a lot of exercices. I don't eat legumes, no good for my gut.
What do you think about using potassium salt as a substitute for the usual sodium salt, to reduce sodium intake?
Good stuff. Ozempic seems to taking criticism now for its hazards to health.
Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells
Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.

Isnt the protein recommend dose per kg only 0.8?
How much salt should we actually be consuming if we want to preserve cardiovascular health? I've read studies ranging from 500mg to 4g and I have no idea what's true at this point.
I'd like your opinion on methylene blue
isn't lower methionine linked to longer life? so how do we eat high protein without raising methionine?
Hi Brad thx for the useful video. I’m confused about the LDL cholesterol levels. I’ve heard that higher LDL cholesterol reduces the risk of heart attacks in over 60’s. Can you clarify? I’d value your thoughts on this.
Get an APO B test. This is the most reliable blood test indicator.
Dr, you did not differentiate between "good" and "bad" LDL.
Solid 👍
Dr., What is your basis for avoiding the healthiest fat, saturated fat?
Dogma..
@danielseddon3177 I'm a bit more cynical and I think it's something more pragmatic: $$$, unless proven otherwise.
I agree with most you disseminated minus vaccinations (that’s dependent) and fluoride toothpaste.
I really like watching your stuff but would it kill you to include pounds along with your kg a lot of us in the United States don't recognize kg. Thanks again for what you do.
Dear Dr Brad, I saw quite some research that oral pycnogenol supplement is beneficial for anti-aging, especially skin, could you make a video about it please?:)
Great Video! ....Curious why you incude a megadose of B12 in your microvitamin ?
Maybe because after 50 years old everyone becomes b12 deficient. Of that "megadose" very little will end up being absorbed.
