If you buy it and do what it says, It offers some fun. A lot of repeats but for a pick 2 random decks(we use d20 to decide which we will be using) and play with what you get it is a blast for $40-50. Worth it for fun random play. Maybe not for hardcores.
WotC: we do not make Themebooster any longer. We make jumpstart for each set insted. People: mehhhh the jumpstart is not the original one. Be aware of what to expect from a product :D
Exactly, they are cheap and fun for beginners or just to make a level playing field for some kitchen table magic. They hoodwinked us with the DMU version and we all got overcharged which left a bad taste in everyones mouths. As usual wotc's lack of transparency leaves a feel bad moment for the players. They should have just been honest about it.
If I'm honest I'd look for and pay the extra for an original jumpstart, here in the UK I just picked up 2 boxes for £100 each compared to around £85 for Dominaria or Brothers, I'm pretty sure, assuming you're in the continental US or Canada, you could find a similar deal for the core 2021 Jumpstart set, it may cost more but it has 24 packs as opposed to 18 and does have a chance of some good cards as well, or failing that I would look at the "Magic: The Gathering Game Night: Free-for-All 2022" for playing with a group of friends, it's way cheaper and has 5 x60 card decks, which is 60 cards less than a Jumpstart box and has unique cards. My circle of friends who play got great mileage out of 2021 Jumpstart and thoroughly enjoyed it, even my wife who is a diehard Commander player enjoyed it, the new version was so disappointing in comparison. It is a good idea but I think my biggest issue with the current Jumpstart is the price and the fact that, just like the video says, they are just a worse version of theme boosters rebranded as Jumpstart, also, and this is what really stinks, is the fact that Mark Rosewater specifically addressed the lack of transparency and poor communication over sets on how they are named and what they contain, that was in August of this year in his State of design article when Dominaria Jumpstart had to be a known quantity, yet they let it out into the wild knowing it would disappoint because of how much it had changed for the worst. A lot of people would've gotten burned over Jumpstart expecting one thing but getting another and that was down to poor communication, deliberately poor in my opinion. It would have to be a lot cheaper than it currently is to make it a good buy. Also while less of a issue as the other problems the new jumpstart has, why on earth 18 packs, it is designed for 2 people to pick 2 packs and shuffle them up and play so 4 packs every time you sit down and play, you could make up the numbers to use the last 2 packs but realistically what ever number they go for, a multiple of 4 is the smart move.
@@oldschoolmtg unfortunately, I heard today that they are lowering future draft boxes to 24 packs and putting five cards in each pack. Honestly, I think it’s the beginning of the end of magic.
I think it was probably about average but the mythics were actually decent ones which was probably luck. I've only opened a few things but been extremely lucky, I pulls one of the foil stained glass transformers in my first collectors box!
Yeah original jumpstart was definitely better, we will see if lightning strikes twice with jumpstart 2022 next month, but I recommend buying all the OG jumpstart you can while the price is still low.

I got one for 40 bucks for black friday and still think I got scammed

I would buy one of these just to get a group of friends together and play. Thanks Dan

I’m watching this one month later, and on Amazon, they are selling these for under $50
Yeah, they tricked us using the Jumpstart name instead of calling them theme boosters like they really were.
@@oldschoolmtg honestly, I was surprised at some of the mythics you got in that box as they are worth more than the entire box now
@@craigchilman3649 I've been picking some up while they are so cheap, I think they will age a lot better than the theme packs.

@@craigchilman3649 5 cards in a pack for draft? That's ludicrous I'm guessing false information by someone.
There is real Jumpstart 2022 out in a month. Avoid these like the plague.
Yeah these are just theme packs, I did get lucky with some of the mythics though so not a bad box overall.
You got a lot more mythics than I expected. I wonder how common that is or was your box unusually stacked.

@@oldschoolmtg Yeah you pulled the only foil glass break I've seen so far. That is awesome.
What is the most valuable card in this set? Foil swamp?
Unless you get lucky on the mythics then probably lol.
Good content
Thank you!
I hate money also...
These standard jumpstarts should be illegal to sell
I think they are good for beginners, but it should be illegal to charge high prices on them since it's obviously a scaled down beginners pack item.
damn you got mcspanked, so the original jumpstart is the one to buy still.

Even beginners will get bored with this.
Those Jumpstarts are a big no for me.
