Thanks for the review - covered all of my questions without being long-winded like a lot of other reviews for audio equipment.I have the predecessors R1280DB and I'm super happy with the sound. But the new remote and the sub-out will get me to upgrade to the DBS as soon as they are available again in Germany (sold out everywhere), so well done Edifier on clearly improving on a great product.

I have r1280db wood finish and they sound pretty well especially with t5 subwoofer
I have a Samsung subwoofer that came with a soundbar (not separate powered), I wonder if you know, could I put a jack plug on that subwoofer cable and plug it into this speaker or would that not work?
I was wondering what the quality via Optical SPDIf on these speakers is like (there definitely must be an internal DAC that converts the digital optical SPDIf into analogue signals to drive the speakers, but it hasn't been mentioned exactly which DAC chip the speaker utilizes.)
I have an external DAC (SMSL SU-6) connected to my computer via the computer's SPDIf output into the SMSL SU- 6 DAC. And that is connected to powered speakers via the DAC's RCA output.
So if I get these EDIFIER speakers, should I directly connect the speakers to my computer's optical out? Or connect these speakers via RCA to the SMSL DAC that is decoding the computer's spdif output?
I'm aware that SPDIF is digital and the signal itself will be the same regardless. I'm just wondering about the *conversion* end of things ie. the DAC (digital to analogue converter) chip in the speakers vs. the DAC in my external SMSL SU-6 DAC.
I'm listening to the R1280Ts with the "Sub Out" and it sounds very good (with my choice of Sub) all you need is a RCA to 3.5mm cable - I got a Subwoofer as soon as I knew I can hook one up to the R1280Ts via the product photos on Amazon!
this is my 2nd time ordering the R1280s: I had the original R1280T (my sister has them now - blown left tweeter) the "Ts" model is a upgrade with the "Sub Out" option as I dreamed of with the '1280T.
Do you know if I could connect a subwoofer that I have laying around from Samsung that was connected to a soundbar? It has a different plug but I can change the plug right?
Hi, this might be a dump comparison, but right now i have logitech z906. But for a cleaner look iam thinking of buying these ones. besides that the logitech ones are 5.1, is the sound comparable? Is the sound from the R1280 good comparing the Logitech ones? Thanks in advance. Great video!

Hello. My question is for Bluetooth to be active I have to necessarily change it manually with the knob???. Because for example I have a sounbar that even if it is by optical connection and using it so it can also be automatically connected to Bluetooth without having to activate it in the sounbar manually.

Thanks for the great content! I'm interested in buying those but what's stopping me is their Bluetooth capability (I don't have access to the non-BT model) - I just try to avoid unnecessary BT radiation (minimal as it is). I wanted to ask if there's an option to turn the BT chip off completely (so it won't be recognizable from other phones / devices). I tried to contact Edifier about that to no avail.

Thanks for your words! I'm not sure but I think when you aren't using the BT mode it wont appear in your phone.
Just buy the R1280Ts its has no bluetooth

the new 1280dbs is advertised having a "soundfield spatializer" at the touch of a button. does this work in your setup ? and how does that affect the sound ?

For those researching, these are like the majority of reviews. Got mine today and very impressed. Not a scam at all (decided price was worth a shot). Great sound stage. Plays loud. More bass than you expect. Even Skrillex sounds good. Clear. Excellent vocals. Built solid. Not left wanting. Solved my desk problem 100%. Can’t say enough. Was going to get Vanatoo T0’s but not motivated now. I’m guessing the s revision really improved things based on old reviews but can’t compare. Moving from $1k+ headphones for work convenience. Enjoying music very much again. Surprising

Can you connect bluetooth headphones to the speakers?
here bluetooth works only on the input,for example, you can connect a mobile phone to the speakers and they will sound music from the phone

Mine didn't come in a pretty laminated box. Just plain printed cardboard. Edifier must be cutting cost to retain pricing. Of course the box doesn't matter just saying.

Hi guys! =) Hello from Russia) I choose between Edifier R1280DBs and Edifier R1700BTs, I understand that Edifier R1700BTs should be better in sound, but there is no spdif. Planning to use them with my pc, gigabyte aorus ultra z390 motherboard. Does it make sense to buy R1280DBs just for the sake of spdif? what do you think, which ones are worth taking for the best experience?
Buy the cheaper ones , you won't notice any difference ;)

I want to get these so I connect a google home mini over Bluetooth, but I saw people say that you can’t control the volume from the device that is connected to the speaker, only from the speaker itself, that could be a problem because I have the google home mini on my desk and I just tap it to change volume or with voice, can you confirm
you can only change the volume with controller included and with the speaker it self. I sometimes connect them to my phone and if you press volume down on my phone then it decreases the volume. But I am not sure if that's what you mean. When you use bluetooth mode its like a normal bluetooth speaker
@@99setups yeah, i want the ability to control the volume from the phone or from the google home mini when connected through bluetooth, don't want to carry the remote everywhere or reach the speaker when wanting to control the volume
I've got mine connected to my Echo Dot and it works with no problems. They're brilliant speakers for the price.

What is the difference between R1280DB and R1280DBs ?
the DBs has a subwoofer connection. The DB does not.
