Lyrics
Down, down, you bring me down
I hear you knocking down my door
And I can't sleep at night.
Your face it has no place
No room for you inside my house
I need to be alone.
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you,
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do.
Turn, turn, I wish you'd learn
There's a time and place for everything
I've got to get it through.
Cut loose 'cause you're no use
I couldn't stand another
Second in your company.
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you,
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do.
Stone me why can't you see
You're a no one nowhere washed up baby
Who'd look better dead.
Your tongue is far too long
I don't like the way it sucks and
Slurs upon my every word.
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you,
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do.
I am the resurrection and I am the life,
I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.
I am the resurrection and I am the life,
I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.
I play this song twice in a row before I start work. Every single Work Day. And been doing so for 6 years.
You don't get bored of that? The song is amazing but all day at ther same hour?
Chub, I'm with you 100 P hermano! No matter how many times a week, this song KILLZ!
Shit. I know i am going wrong.
Thanks
I'm on this.
I need this.
bang the drum
This is gona be me i swear to god .. im goin on like 2 months in a row doing this
It's a great tune but I think you need some help buddy 🤣
John Squire at his best, This band defined a generation
John Squire at his best?!? This is amateur John. Ever listened to Second Coming at all mate?
@@nikobellic339 the bes than! But, this is Jonh amateur is so fucking roots nostalgic rock manchester music! Its so fucking magic nostalgic, man!
@@nikobellic339 his guitar playing on second coming and the seahorses album is far superior but I’d have his funky indie sound of the first album and singles around that time every day of the week without a shadow of a doubt
@ Evan Phillips
Sorry dude but that Seahorses record sucked. And Second Coming was about 35 minutes of crap too. I wish it was wasn’t.
Too bad the cameraman couldn’t be bothered to get decent footage.
Reni's amazing. All that fantastic drumming throughout the entire gig - must've be exhausting, he gives it his all, he doesn't let up, or lose rhythm AND still manages to sing his beautiful backing vocals so well without even sounding out of breath! Brilliant bloke!
He’s the bust drummer there is can change the beats n rythem in a second n the fills he dis ir class 🏴🇬🇧🎤🥁
Stunning talent, energy, artistry, joy for life
Totally agrree 🥁
People need to understand that an Ian Brown performance was never about how talented he was, he is a frontman, it's his fucking attitude that counts, he didn't give a fuck he couldn't sing. This his best performance simply because he was on the same level as an entire city at that point, his goal was to get as fucked as possible and spread peace and love. WHAT A FUCKING LEGEND
Will Keogh Best way to put it I've ever seen that 👍🏻🍋
And just look at him.. Cool as it gets
I second that Harry. Well put Will!!!
lol but that's why we will always luv em xxx
some of his interviews at that period are ,,,,,,well haha u know when uve done ur first dove , there will only ever be 1 squires mate so underestimated
I’m in this Video, on the balcony at 04:10 💙
where abouts are you?
Lucky mate would of been phenomenal to see
Just KNEW i'd eventually see a "That's me" comment. Are you the guy in the centre with the middle parting?
Phillip whst was this seminal show like in real life?
Looks like you've got another 14.59 minutes of Fame left
Favourite Stone Roses song
TAKE A NUMBER MATE
This is the One
Sameee
Yeeeeees !
Elephant stone one of em
I'm kinda convinced this is the best song of all time
Squire's and Mani's parts mesh together so well that there is no need for a rhythm guitarist
And holy shit Reni goes nuts at the 3rd section of the song
Aye, yer not wrong
Possibly the greatest work of art ever created.
I was there! And my clothes were still wringing wet when I got back to Manchester. Not only that, the next weekend was my first night in the Hacienda and Ian Brown was there too, in his collar-of-fivers t-shirt. We made eye contact and his stare penetrated my very soul. Life-changing times indeed.
You lucky thing!
Squire was 27 years old when they did this gig. There are many great bands... but very few capture a moment so perfectly... perhaps the beatles, in the early 60's, stones in the early 70's, the pistols in the mid 70s and, the specials in the late 70's?....The Roses did it - they were perfect at that time. What are the chances - you have 3 once in a generation musicians and a frontman capable of leading a generation
Noel was 27 when oasis brought definitely maybe out
Page was 27 when Led Zep formed@@waynesilverman3048
Absolutely class and always will be and as for his drumming well what can you say.
Im a drummer myself but couldnt last as long 😂😂just brilliant
One of the best songs ever.
They defined an era.
One of the best British bands ever as well.
Love how this starts chilled and understated and then builds into epic finale. What a band.
What can we say about that....probably the most important UK band in the past 30 or so years.....yes, even Oasis are behind them imho.
No comparison Roses in a field far surpassed from Oasis
Real music this. A song that has almost a 5 minute interlude and is still a huge hit shows that class of a band. I want another band like this😭
better than led zep..dont even get me started m8 its its better
Were you having a stroke?
That 8 miutes outro is fantastic, amazing, mesmerizing and unbelievably good 🤤
Best piece of music ever
Tell you what Mike i clicked on this track because i got told it was pretty good, i think that was an understatement to be honest, sorry about the mess everywhere its because my head has just been blown off my shoulders by these little scallywags!! Fuck me man if they were transported back to New York in 1968 and played this to all those tripped out hippys( who were used to having their "minds blown away" by Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane and the Floyd) if they heard this they would REALLY know what it was like to be taken to a whole new level of Psychedelic mind fuck what the fuck who gives a fuck just go with it and what the fuck musical fucking brilliance" Know what i mean Mike? I NEVER thought that any track could beat my all time No1 acid drenched tune (The Four Horsemen by Aphrodite,s Child) but this one has done just that, fucking incredible bit of music that made peoples faces melt like hot wax before my very eyes. Know what i mean Mike?
+Teddy Bundy I know exactly what you mean, you should of been there when they performed in Manchester a couple of weeks ago: best night of my life. This isn't the only amazing song by the roses. 90% of the songs they write are amazing but none take you away quite like this
Bloody right again Mike, when i heard how good this was i thought i would listen to the very best of the boys album and i suddenly realised that i nearly missed out on this band(Well,i did first time around) because i was so caught up listening to the Greatest Rock and Roll band in the world in my opinion who go by the name of Oasis, did you think i was going to say Aerosmith then? Or Marjorie Proops and the Justine Beiber MotherFucking GothSlaying Sons of Bitches from Drotwich Band? Yeah i was so impressed by Oasis back in 94 and onwards i didnt take a lot of notice of all the other shit hot groups that were around then, but fuck me Mike i am certainly making up for it now and in fact the West Midlands Police have just put a bill through the commons making it ill-eagle to play "I am the Resurrection more than twice in a row above volume 35 decibels after the hours of Eight at night whilst wearing a dressing gown covered in sequins and performing a "Ian Brown style dance" with a vacant look on ya face outside your own Summerhouse in ya own garden"! I pleaded Guilty mate and could face 5 to 7 in the scrubs next month. But as Danny Dyer once said "Was it worth it"? Course it fucking was,!!
Hold on kid. It's pretty fucking awesome. There are other best pieces on the same album.
His best song defo 🐈
Reni, using only a snare, a floor tom, a kick drum, a hi-hat and a splash cymbal, carries this song the whole way with metronomic timing, he was and is a colossus on the drums. And he was also the best singer in the Roses but that's a whole other story.
A drum kit you mean
Yeah !
Bang On!
@@maryhinge5853 a very basic one he means
Reni is the best drummer!
I wish I could go back in time and rescue them from the shady business deals. This video is fantastic
Give ride a listen to
@@lbebbington1087 Also Suede
Why are you a solicitor or just u would of warned them
The 'shady business' and subsequent removal from the limelight was a cover up for the fact that they were killed and replaced with lookalikes in late 1990. Compare this performance with I Am the Resurrection live in Atlanta in 1995. It's different fellas. ruclips.net/video/vSdbb-1ncCI/видео.html
I was absolutely obsessed with this when I was about 14, I would play this song on video before school and as soon as i got in every night. Still amazing.
A fantastically bitter song. Ian is a truly iconic and 4REAL frontman. Also, Mani = BASS MONSTER.
Holy motherf---ing Reni!
How, just how, can 4 blokes knock it so far out of the park? Sublime.
That solo and outro….it is like they don’t want the sonic magic to ever end!
Ian's wrecked out of his head. Playing them bongos 👌🏼 legend
Ian said in interview s He never used to take anything before he was due on stage he said hes took e once before a gig (glasgo green!) But no beer or weed ( yes during the day weed would of been consumed hours before the gig as ian didnt like fucking things up)
Everyone in this band is incredible, but Mani's bass at the end is amazing !!
Amazing!! No one else sounded like them then, no one else sounds like them now. True originators, true influencers of actual substance and artistic talent. Love every member, John Squire made magic with the guitar. Reni Legend, Ian, Mani, Stone Roses Forever
Stone roses were incredible live best ever band ever ever , Ian is a star always was lovely guy too . Anyone who criticised the singing is missing out - Ian’s co written all these songs , 30 years later they are still amazing .Have seen this set at least 10 times , sometimes with only 20 people there when they first came to London playing the polys .LOVE THE ROSES AND ALWAYS WILL - THANKS SOOO MUCH FOR THE MUSIC GUYS X
Shame they split and didnt make lp number 3
Still remember the excitement when I found the VHS tape for sale in Hong Kong all years ago. Played almost every night
I mean, it’s just absolutely genius
How can be possible that one person doesn't like it??
It´s simple, that someone just heard Ian´s voice. Absolutely out of tune, like in every single live performance in his artistic life.
bad vocals. Too bad to believe.
thyere a k pop fans ,but if u still hope ian can had a good vocals he would be join a boyband .
I could watch Reni drum until my last breath.
This brings it all back for me....their best performance of resurrection by far... and I saw them many times back then as I was in a band from Burnley giggin alongside the Milltown Brothers....Hate syndicate... Sulphate family... Cocktail mentality....The Unit.... Brilliant times man...🧨
Squire + Reni. Incredible.
Reni such a fkn legend
This takes me back to those days....truly magical!
Oh man I remember when I saw them play an extended version of this at The Glasgow Green in 1990 and the song lasted 28 minutes, amazing memories of my crazy youth 👀
What (?)... No way I have never heard of them doing a 28 minute version.... Would adore that if so
Ian was on a E at that gig as he said to robb in a interview only time hes been high on stage well on a E onstage
Here it is: ruclips.net/video/c9Ab2_pGFxw/видео.html
Best concert ever
@@ChubbyChecker182 I was there mate, it was NOT 28 minutes long 😂🤣
Greatest music track of all time
Reni really contributed A LOT.
My dad is the tall guy in the back in the white shirt at 4:06 and 4:11… he was only 17 in this video ahaha. He is so chuffed that he is in this music video and loves to tell us about the experience. He has made me love this band so much x
Reni tho!!!! fantastic drummer.
THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT SONG OF THE 20TH CENTURY. MILLENNIA FROM NOW, SPECIES WILL BE DISCOVERING THE MUSIC OF THE STONE ROSES AND SAYING DA FUQ??
I'd counter that and say that honor lies with Search and Destroy by The Stooges
FUCK YEEEEEEEEEES! STOOOOOGES!
only if people are still enjoying MDMA. This is the greatest version of this track, It blew my mind.
Tight az fuck, magic before yer eyes.
so good
El solo de guitarra hace bailar hasta los muertos
X dios que buena banda y el baterista todo el poder
this is heaven

Possibly my all time favorite drummer. How come he didn't get involved in some other projects after the split ?
He had a family, and didn't want them in the limelight
Reni was singer and guitarist in a band called The Rub. They were awful
Im stoned everytime watch this

You need to be, otherwise you can hear how utterly shit it actually is.
Said b4, reni is a pure joy to watch
Amazing, just love Ian's vocals.
julian bell you on crack?
@@waynestott6392 This is rock music. Its supposed to sound like that.
@@snakeweirdo Out of tune, with no dynamic or timing.
Oh ok mr expert.
@@DjNikGnashers You ever heard punk?
@@snakeweirdo I'm 52, I lived through the mid to late 70's and didn't like punk music. I was into 2-tone stuff like the specials.
5:04 underrated riff
If it wasn’t for stone roses a lot of bands my never of happened. Raw indie so good.
Good how much I miss the Music from the 90s.
Everything valuable about live music happened that night.
Los stones desplegando su magica sensacion, mezclando estilos y esa voz de su cantante, yo marron, que a pasar de cantar de puta pena lo disimulaba extraordinariamente
Lo disimulaba????
I’m a yankee and am familiar with the album as I’ve owned it for many years but love them live!
ya definitely no one cares...people all over the world love this band.
@@wingerding band never gained much traction outside of europe, especially in America, so yes people all around the world know this band, but not nearly in the same regard or amount of people as names like queen, zeppelin, rush, who actually succeeded in America. Their debut album which is now 4x platinum in Britain only reached number 86 on the American charts and never earned RIAA certification of any level
And I know rush is from Canada not Europe so that wasnt a great example but the other 2 work nonetheless
@@Teezzer13 garath evens said that if they toured usa and else where after spike island they would of been huge but they had year off till 91 when they did bits for 2nd coming but basically they had till 93 .but gareth been adick he might b right as 1990 stone roses was untouchable and started getting recognised from Japan and usa but not a lot but it was a start
@@waynesilverman3048 i wish they gained the recognition in America, im lucky to even have found them at all as a 20 year old from America
I love the kick drum. It makes the rhythm. Reni is genius level troglodyte
Legends.

I was there as a young kid met in the manchester pub on the piss all day full of bumbles happy days we ruled the world

my fav version of this song.
8 and half minutes into this Reni goes full Jedi

Defo my favourite jam this one they had it Jst right place right time still sounds strong as 👊👊
Still stunning music
Down down you bring me down........
More in tune than usual , but that aint what its about , kin awesome
8.23mins in Mani's walking B Line tight to beat leaving squire free wi that extra back up from.cresa ...they were days jamming
Eh? John starts off with his Gretsch with capo on 2nd playing what looks like chords to Sugar Spun Sister, then a few mins later playing with his strat.
Yeah I was confused about that as well
They don’t have footage for the whole gig so they just got different parts and put them together to fill the gaps.
