I met Nick's dad. He was a legendary jazz trombonist. He came to mentor my college roomie who was a trombonist in our jazz band (I was the guitarist). He took us to dinner and Nick was there.

Dave Mustaine was Lead Guitarist in Metallica was replaced by Kirk Hammett. He wrote much of the material on their first album. He created his own band Megadeth with Bass player Dave Ellefson those two have been the constant members and had several different line ups. This featured the late Nick Mensa on drums and guitar virtuoso Marty Friedman. This album is considered by many to be the epitome of Thrash Metal and the guitar solo in this song has often been cited as one of the best all time. I would recommend anything off this album “Rust in Peace”

This song was written by their guitarist/lead singer Dave Mustaine and bass player and long time friend David Ellefson. The lyrics of this song in particular talks about ending a dysfunctional relationship, and near the end of the song, Mustaine sings about giving the girl "the kiss of death." This led to speculation that the song ends with him killing his partner, but Mustaine has dismissed that, explaining that it is a very personal written at a difficult time. Said Mustaine: "'Tornado of Souls' was written the day I broke up with my fiancé; it explains what I went through, how I sprang out of it. I thought my existence was in that relationship - I was trapped in the eye of a tornado, and if I stepped out of line, I'd be blown to oblivion. No more whirlwind romances for me. If I do get back in that situation, I'm gonna be very aware now and check the weather before I get involved."
The intro of this song itself is made up by an unusual guitar riff largely based on palm-muted natural harmonics.
I believe Marty Friedman's complex solo in this song is one of his most classic and beloved ones, and it seems to have been an important one for himself too at the time. In a 2002 interview, he recalled: "When I finished the solo to this one, Mustaine came into the studio, listened to it down once, turned around and without saying a word, shook my hand. It was at that moment that I felt like I was truly the guitarist for this band."

Tornado of Souls is a super approachable thrash song that doesn't compromise. It's pretty perfect.
Megadeth are the best in the business, do yourself a favour listen to more from them.

MegaDeth had a series of different and drummers, and Guitarist. Dave Mustaine - lead vocals, lead and rhythm guitars. and David Ellefson - bass, backing vocals have been together since the beginning. Then there was Marty Friedman - lead and rhythm guitars. Now to answer Ur question on who was that drummer. Well his name is Nick Menza - drums, backing vocals.

Nick Mensa.., may he Rest In Peace... and Marty Friedman... who is a HUGE star in Japan. Dave Mustaine is the maestro of all of it. He recorded most of the rhythm guitars on this album
He did a lot of the solos too. Little known fact outside of the metal community. Dave Mustaine was the original lead guitarist fo Metallica... lol

One of my favorite songs of all time. Megadeth is incredible. So many amazing songs. If you love guitar, also check out Judas Priest-Beyond the Realms of Death. Incredible solos.
Huge Megadeth fan here. A few answered correctly below about who was in the band. Dave Mustaine (Vox, Guitar), Marty Friedman (Lead Guitar), Dave Ellefson (Bass) and Nick Menza (drums). That solo (and everything in music is somewhat personal,)is widely considered one of the best solos of all time. I highly recommend listening to this album front to back. Again, arguable, even to myself, but I consider this one if, if not the best Thrash Metal, and possibly Metal album in general. of all time.

Nick freakin Menza be his name(the drummer, he also wrote a couple of songs in his time with Megadeth), he sadly passed away back in May 21 of 2016. There is one thing to know is that Megadeth has had many guitarist and drummers. At one point of time Lead guitarist/lyricist Dave Mustaine was the only original member for a while. But anyways, there are two guitarists in this band at this point of time, one is Dave Mustaine ( Founder of the band along with bassist Dave Ellefson) and the other guitarist is lead/rhythm guitarist Marty Friedman (He does the solo in this song) This Megadeth lineup was perhaps the best strongest, longest lineup that Megadeth had. But some will argue that the first lineup of Megadeth with guitarist Chris Poland and drummer Gar Samuelson was the better lineup out of all; but I do not argue at all, Chris and Gar are pretty great musicians. May Gar Samuelson Rest in Peace. Which brings me to request a song for you on why Chris Poland was no longer in Megadeth and was kicked out of Megadeth. The song “Liar” is about Chris Poland on how he took the band’s equipment to pawn off to buy himself drugs, it is a pretty great song, and very underrated( Well the album it is on is very underrated, “So Far...So Good...So What?”) Do the lyric video, because the lyrics are really great, so please make sure to do the lyrical video. I absolutely loved Megadeth growing up during that era. But as you requested, there is an absolutely amazing solo guitarist named Jason Becker. Very tragic story as he was a phenom like Beethoven. You must listed to the song Altitudes on his debut album Perpetual Burn. Its an absolute master piece

This is a relationship song. The song talks about Dave breaking up with his long-time girlfriend. For Dave, it was the right thing to do, but it was still hard to do. The relationship had gotten stagnant and dead.

One of my favorite bands. If you are just beginning to check out heavy metal then you are in for a treat because most metal is based on heavy guitars, fast riffs, and straight-up attitude. There are sooo many to choose from that no matter what your personal preferences are.. there will be a metal genre that fits right in. If you want to hear another guitar virtuoso you may want to check out Devin Townsend. The song 'Deadhead' live at the Royal Albert Hall. He had an extreme metal band in the past 'Strapping Young Lad' quite a bit angrier.. the song 'Detox' is a good one. If you are looking for something a bit more classical you might want to check out Yngwie Malmsteen.. the song 'Trilogy Suite Opus'
