Man, I haven't heard this record in what...? 30 years and it just grabs me, i forgot how damn good it is. This is a masterpiece. Nothing today sounds this good honestly. Something about the late 80s early 90s that was a pinnacle in music, movies and sports talent.....just a special time. Rust in Peace is one the best thrash metal records ever and this solo is untouchable man.

This album and Symphony of Destruction probably their best albums, anything from them is good Thrash-metal all the way through. Dave Mustaine maybe almost 60 but he can still shred on guitar.
Don't let people confine you to only this album, while this is their most popular, they have a lot of awesome songs across 35 years.
This album is the most respected thrash piece in the metal community when it comes to the legacy of this genre...many tried to come close but none made something like this album!
Being a thrash act and have so much melody in it...this was like something never been done in their time!
Infact the lots of melody we listen in the modern metal actually comes the influences of megadeth! If you're an old school metalhead you'll hear some megadeth in almost every modern metal bands somewhere this band changed scenes!
The best metal guitarist ever created the best metal band of all time and hired an absolute weapon of a second guitarist in Marty Friedman (probably my fav metal lead guitarist ever). This lineup is untouchable.

You have to hear this entire album, from HOLY WARS to RUST IN PEACE; it's a master piece; one of the most important albums in metal genre of all times .
The guitar solo in this song is consider one of the best, it's awesome. And this Megadeth line up, Mustaine Ellefson (the ususals) but Marty Friedman and Nick Menza; best line up in this band.
No matter where I am whenever I listen to this solo through my headphones i stop and close my eyes until it finishes
‘Holy Wars’ and ‘In My Darkest Hour’ are their best two songs by far and way better than any Metalica song

Basically, Tornado of Souls is about a dysfunctional relationship where one person has had enough of the other person’s craps, breaks up with the other person then goes back out looking for something better. The other person is left alone to live with their hatred and bitterness until they die.
It's not the fastest solo ever, it's not the most technical solo ever, it's not the longest solo ever (though it does tick those boxes), but for purely ascetic reasons, in my opinion it's the greatest solo ever. The levels of emotion, the melodies, the perfect modality and the way that it elevates the song are unique. It's not just an interlude for the guitarist to show off his skills... it is the essence of the song. It's amazing how the calm and stillness in the eye of the tornado comes through the whirling mass of notes. I've heard it thousands of times and it still moves me as much as the first time. I heard a story that when Marty laid it down, Dave just shook his hand without saying a word.
One of the greatest guitar solos ever written, the performance is absolutely flawless, superhuman... And the riffs are non stop, ferocious.

This Rust in Peace album from Megadeth is by far the best thrash metal album in history.. 5 Magiks and Holy Wars The Punishment Due are Masterpiece’s and then you have Hangar 18

Hello, youngsters. With all due respect, don't chase the trend when it comes to Megadeth. Just start at the beginning, turn down the lights, and enjoy.
Megadeth is more soulful and Jazzy mixed with godly speed, no other thrash metal band touches Dave and Marty on guitars. Mettwlica is a complete package with all the musicians together but Megadeth are on a totally different level than the other big 3. This Marty solo is absolute 🔥

I think the Lucretia solo rocks better , but I love it all. Megadeth=Guitar Supreme.
Apparently it was Marty's favourite as well, but it all comes down to taste at this level. This, Lucretia, Poison Was The Cure, and Marty's main solo from Five Magics can all be argued as being the best on the album by Marty. A couple of Dave's aren't too shabby either!

I'm still not sure what Dave was thinking with the remastered version. It was really more of a remix and remaster that just made the album sound worse... especially this song.
Apparently they lost the original vocal track so they had to redo it. Then again, it was a bit like trying to repaint the Sistine Chapel anyway.

Even if Megadeth is one of the "Big four" of thrash metal, I think they played pure thrash only for a short time, then developed to something else, that is very hard to explain... kind of the heaviness and sound of thrash, but less fast and more melodic. Megadeth is just too special to be compared to something else.
