    G.E. Smith himself is such a consummate guitarist and bandleader, and such a gentleman: really gifted and really humble.

    G.E. is the best. Goes without saying, he's a great player, but the guy is also a fantastic story teller! Could listen to both for hours.

    In the late 60's or early 70' I met a very nice guy who introduced himself as George Smith at a huge consignment guitar store, Guitars Unlimited in New Haven, CT. He played in a band called the Scratch Band, I supplimented my income buying guitars, basses and amps from people who just wanted to get rid of them and resold them. George gave me his phone number especially wanting Telecasters or Esquires. I did have a 1950's Esquire at the time but wanted to hold on to it. Very nice guy and glad to see him achieve success.

    G.E. Smith = Guitar Expert Smith

  • @mrfester42

    Absolutely G.E.!
    This guy talks about playing with this great one and that legend and this master and that guitar hero and he's very low key and always gracious when relating his experiences but he's a modern guitar master himself of almost every type of popular music you can name.
    His, mind and fingers and heart have it all stored away and when the band strikes up, there's no accelerating. Instantly he's at top speed. PLUS, it's so entertaining to watch him play. If you want to see someone in his element and totally happy doing what he does, just watch this guy play. No jumping around or other over the top histrionics and rarely does he do that guitar grimace. It's just a happy guy beaming his music and happy spirit out to the world. He's what a musician should be. Doing what he loves and giving it back to all who want to listen. I've never heard this guy play where I wasn't totally into the music and the whole experience and giving that smile right back at him... even through the TV tube!.
    Hat's off to G.E. Smith!

    G.E Smith I would buy an album of yours, over anything Eric ever did. Always blown away with your musical sense. Eddie is something else he's in a class by himself. Yep Eddie is a true master.

    Mr. G.E. great story telling i was literally in a zone as your telling your story, and the MIGHTY EDDIE VAN HALEN is in a class all by himself, so many great guitarist such as yourself.....and by the way you have GREAT CHARISMA loved watching you on snl, but EVH took guitar to a whole nother stratosphere.

  • @chaykuh
    @chaykuh 7 лет назад +36

    Great stories! I just looked it up if anyone is curious: Eddie messes up right before the song's outro bit. He goes back into the main groove but quickly switches. Really small mistake, but I guess the pros get that way by being critical of their playing.
