    Awesome video. I watched your WRHR video a dozen times prior to soloing it last fall, it was very helpful. You're a beast! The WRHR totally crushed me and when I go back and watch it you and your partner seem not-so-phased by the physicality of that hike. I just printed out the Skurka guide to the Pfiffner and will be firing that up fall 2025, but this time I know better than to think about how easy you make it look. Great videos, way to get after it. Following.

    I'm so glad this lady makes videos. These narrated ones are some of my favorite.

      You have no idea how much I needed to hear that these last few weeks - thank you!

    Weird question, but did you keep the sunglasses you found coming down to Spirit Lake? I hiked the Pfiffner earlier in the year and my hiking partner lost a pair of black Julbo sunglasses right in that area. Great video too! Amazing to see what a month can change. Too bad about the Devil’s Thumb fire, I was at Columbine Lake the day it started and unfortunately had to bail.

      OMG WE DID! Checking on the brand but we have em. Are you in CO? Maybe we could get them back to you somehow, that's amazing.
      Sorry to hear about the Devil's Thumb Fire affecting you as well! I do know it's contained now and so hopefully everything should open up again next year.

    Great video! Looks like Amazing views and some fun scrambles. Can’t wait to hit the Colorado section on the CDT

      It was a blast! Thank you! When you do, def recommend adding on the Pfiffner, or at least sections of it. It's a lot cooler than the actual CDT through there. DM me when it's time and I can give you some beta on the best add ons or easiest way to do the whole thing as part of the Colorado CDT!

    Amazing Sauce. Your story telling and voiceovers just continue to get better and better- which is wild, because they were already so good. I loved the emotional story arc from doubts to excitement and confidence with ups and downs along the way. It reminds me that it’s not just the physical aspects that can create challenges. Truly great stuff (again). Peace and happy trails always.

      Thank you so much! I have been trying to infuse more personal aspects and not just a play by play of what we did each day, so I really appreciate you noticing that! Thanks for taking the time to watch - happy trails!

    Incredible video. Loved how you handled the weather and reroutes. I’ve been pretty intimidated by this route. Crazy vert, crazy mileage, crazy weather. But after this video I really want to do it now!!! The line about how far you take something in the outdoors someone is doing something more intense than you is so true. But it’d be worth it to see that cloud inversion. So cool.

      thank you so much! I was SO intimidated starting out. I think either approaching it in sections or just being flexible is the key. There are many ways to adjust if needed. And yes always someone out there doing something twice as hard in half the time haha. The cloud inversion felt like a reward!

    Awesome thanks for the video! I saw you said you did paper maps. What size print did you use? I’m debating if 8.5x11 (home printing) is too small

    • @eliseott
      @eliseott  Год назад

      Skurka has some info about that within the guide. If I remember correctly he has directions for how to print at that size but recommends going to a print shop to go bigger (which is what we did). I believe we had 11x17's and they were on a slightly thicker/hardier paper.

    What did you do or use to secure food? Ursack? or hang? or nothing.

    • @eliseott
      @eliseott  Год назад +1

      Ursack with aluminum liner - you have to have that or a bear can in RMNP - and certain sites in Indian peaks.

    Skurkas guide easy enough to follow? Did you use gps or just paper maps?

    • @eliseott
      @eliseott  Год назад

      The guide was great. We used a little of both. Was just nice to be able to orient a little more quickly with a digital compass and topos. But we used the maps every night and had the description of the route (the pdf) downloaded which was super helpful!
