I Remember People insisting on one Gas Stations gas Being Better Than another. When I drove Gasoline Tankers We all Loaded the Same unbranded Gasoline at the Same Independent Refinary. Shell, BP, CONOCO, ExxonMobil, Sunoco, Citgo, We all Loaded the Same gas at the Same Place going to Different Stations.
Rumor has it that ronsonol is litterally zippo fluid in a less expensive yellow container. And if you flip the bottle over you can see zippo stamped on the back because they own ronsonol now. Back in the day ronsonol was alittle different and wasn't owned by zippo.
Nowdays (since around 2010) Zippo owns and produces Ronson products (lighter fluid, flints, torches, etc.) However, back in the day Ronsonoil lighter fluid had the same classic yellow bottle with a *blue* cap instead. There was definitely a difference in how it was refined & blended or whatever they do. Especially from a smokers perspective. It smelled more "chemically pungent". It tasted like something you'd clean a carburetor with. Zippo fluid was absolutely much more "pleasant" while smoking & less nauseous. It also seemed to last a couple days longer in a lighter. However "Zippo Premium Fluid" was MORE expensive and way HARDER to find (local grocery stores, gas stations & 7-11's used to all carry Ronsonoil & yellow carded red flints). Anyway, nowdays it's the same lighter fluid. You are literally paying for a packaging difference. Why Zippo continued to produce the classic yellow plastic Ronsonoil bottles with *red* caps is beyond me. Some strange marketing scheme I'm sure. Either way Zippo gets the $$.
The results make sense since they're both made at the same factory in Bradford, PA. There used to be a difference as they used to be two separate companies, but Zippo bought the rights to Ronson in 2010 (ironic, since Ronson was the #1 lighter maker on the planet in the 30's through the '60s and made ART out of metal, whereas Zippo kind of has had one major design with minor refinements for the entire life of their company). Sadly, BIC kind of made middle-end lighters from Ronson irrelevant to most consumers. Dunhill and ST Dupont have survived by marketing purely to the ultra-wealthy with designs that vary mostly in outer case these days (similar to Zippo in some respects). Ronson used a similar fitment across several models, but the lighter bodies themselves were often works of art by comparison. They were so big, however that there's just a massive amount of product still floating around out there (i.e. The Ronson Crown lighter is cheap on eBay because they made MILLIONS of them back in the day and that's just one model).
Back in the 90s I could definitely smell a difference between the two. Ronson lighter fluid stink in comparison to zippo fluid. Now that zippo owns, I have no idea if there’s a difference. Like others said it could be coming out of the same naphtha white gas barrel
As a NJ resident, and my wife was from Union, NJ, unless there is a major price difference, I'd buy local. But if I couldn't get one without hesitation would get either.
its the best thing ever, zippos still making money from selling cheaper fluid in a diferent bottle and saved the "premium" stuff at a higher price for people who want to burn money. Classic money making tactic, i bet they wanted to sell zippo fuel for the same price as ronsonol fuel but decided if people would spend more money if it was marketed as true "premium fuel" and it worked.
they smell almlost identical but it's different.. usually when i use coleman fuel in zippo it's hard to ignited, need 3-5 strike before ignite whereas zippo and ronsonol fuel will ignite on the first strike.

So it would be a bad idea to use heet ?

Yeah ronsonol used to have a blue cap and writing on the label. Said it was a great way of cleaning sticker residue ect.
The same thing with smell added

I've tried both. And ronsonol is the best one for my zippo

The difference is Zippo now has the stronger smell to it.
Thank you. I hope this goes the same for the hand warmers. 🤞

Ronsonol cost the third of the price of the zippo brand so it's kind of a no brainer ...
I would always use Ronsonal and BIC flints. One day I tried using Zippo flits and fluid and it runs way better.
Thank you for your thorough research and for posting this. I'm now a more informed consumer. 👍
I think those 2 are from the same big barrel of light naphtha..I have both an cannot smell any difference

Neat! Thanks for this video :)
Can this be used with a wand lighter?
Same fluid same factory. Zippo bought ronson
Great more videos plz
In short Ronsonol goes 1.19% longer aka its the same...
Same company. Zippo owns Ronson and Ronsonol
I have an old can of ronsonol from 1986.... Smells the same..cans made of tin 🤔
Aka Coleman Fuel / White Gas
they smell almlost identical but it's different.. usually when i use coleman fuel in zippo it's hard to ignited, need 3-5 strike before ignite whereas zippo and ronsonol fuel will ignite on the first strike.
