  • Check out all of our awesome stun guns and self-defense weapons at www.karatemart.com
    This week for Weapons Wednesday, I wanted to test out some of our most popular stun guns to see if they are actually strong enough to stop a large attacker. I'm 230 lbs and had my doubts about how effective a stun gun would be against a person my size, so I had to make this video to see for myself.
    Here are the stun guns I tested out in this video:
    Black Venom Stun Gun: www.karatemart.com/black-veno...
    Pink Comfort Grip Stun Gun: www.karatemart.com/pink-comfo...
    Thunderbolt Stun Baton: www.karatemart.com/thunderbol...

    The two different stun guns I’ve bought said to shock in the butt or flanks as first priority. Of course anywhere you can in a ‘situation’, but aim for those areas first - I can see the buttocks being the largest muscle to twitch, and the flanks just seem like a sensitive area with less protection that might affect the diaphragm. The groin or neck second or third choice. An attacker might not be expecting an attack the the side and backside. But I’ve fortunately not had to test that situation… yet.

    • @Karatemart
      @Karatemart  Год назад +8

      Interesting Austin, I’ve never heard that before. I’ve taken a lot of stuns to every area of the body and didn’t feel like the glutes were the best place to stun. It’s hurts there, but not as bad as the neck, stomach, hands or thighs. If you do a search on Google for “best spots for the stun gun”, it’ll give you a good idea what works best. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!

    😂 I felt every pulse on all three. I’ve done this same thing training my bounty hunters on less than lethal weapons. 90% of people instinctively comply just seeing & hearing the ZAP. The biggest issue with them is the over confidence the average untrained person feels when carrying one. In today’s world it’s like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
    If you don’t train your mind and body in some form of martial arts skills a stun gun isn’t going to make a big difference if confronted with an attacker. There’s just so many levels of escalation involved in confrontations and each one is different. You can go from hands on to a gun in a split second. The only way to understand this is experience. It’s impossible to tell someone what to do without them experiencing it over and over through force on force training. The adrenaline dump gets them every time in the beginning. Myself included. Until a person learns to control the adrenaline it’s just a crap shoot. Tunnel vision takes over and things go south from there. 1st time I had to draw my weapon on an individual I felt the most shaken after the event was over. I played it back in my head over and over and a million scenarios played out. That’s a normal reaction and you must go through it and process your emotions. Eventually you’ll work through it and gain the confidence to take control and the advantage of anticipating what’s coming next.
    I applaud your dedication and bravery. Join this guys class and learn some skills then buy your tools. Best of luck to everyone.

      Hey Kaleb! First off, thank you for your support! I really appreciate it. Of those two, I’d choose the thunderbolt stun baton. It just feels a little more solid and I like the belt clip. Thanks so much for the response I don’t think I’ve ever had someone on RUclips respond so fast! Would you recommend the combat stun baton over the thunderbolt and which has a better flashlight? I like the belt clip too and the combat baton having the belt sheath is really practical. I noticed the thunderbolt had a scroll adjustment and the other has button do they both have adjustable voltage or adjustable flashlights? I will also be ordering the stun flashlight, just seems to practical for EDC not too and your video really sold me.

    • @Karatemart
      @Karatemart  2 года назад +5

      @@kalebstout7673 those are excellent questions. For me, I like the combat stun baton because it feels like it is really well built and could handle some heavy striking. I’d have to compare them side by side to know which flashlight is best, but I think those two are pretty similar. I don’t know of any stun guns that have adjustable voltage, but I do know that several of the batons have different light modes. Honestly, I think you will be happy with either one of those batons, so I would just choose the one that looks most practical for you. But, definitely feel free to call up customer service tomorrow and they can probably answer more specific questions about each one. I hope that helps!

    • @Karatemart
      @Karatemart  Год назад +1

      Hi Miguel! Excellent question! All of these stun guns are rechargeable, so they should last for many years. However, if the stun gun is abused by holding down the stun feature in midair for any extended period of time, the diods and capacitors can burn out and ruin the stun gun. Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate it!

      Thank you so much for your concern. I’m definitely not planning on doing anymore videos that test the stun guns like this. The problem is that as soon as the stun guns strike their resistance, the sound they make and the spark stop despite the fact that they continue to release electricity. So, when viewing a demonstration from an outsider’s prospective, it looks like the stun has stopped. So, in order to get these takes on video, I had to get stunned 16 times, which is way too much for anyone. I’ll take one stun to the arm from this point forward, but nothing more. Thanks so much for watching!

    A higher voltage device just means that the device will be less likely to be inhibited by things such as clothing. What determines the pain factor is the current limit of the device. I'm curious to know both what is the open circuit voltage and short circuit current of the devices tested?

    Ok, so here's my question. If you were attacking someone and they stunned you like in the video and they started to run, would the stun prevent you from chasing them? And if not, how much of a recovery time would you need before you were able to chase the person that stunned you? Because the way i see it if I stunned someone who was attacking me, Im going to try and get away right after and hope that the person won't be able to catch up to me.

    • @Karatemart
      @Karatemart  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your question, Ryan! Unfortunately, that’s a very difficult question to answer and there are so many different variables at play. Stun guns are great, but it’s important to know some self defense techniques in addition to having a stun gun incase they don’t incapacitate the attacker. I’d also suggest pepper spray as well. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!

    • @Hunter-lm7wo
      @Hunter-lm7wo Год назад

      I do not know a lot in self defense, but I have always viewed stun guns as tool other than a primary attack so to speak. what I mean is basically you hit them and run if it works or you use there're surprise and pain to then hit them hard and do damage then get away

    Do you have any suggestions on a hand held one with a wrist bracelet thing? The pink one would be perfect if it had a wrist bracelet & not that awful pink

    • @Karatemart
      @Karatemart  2 года назад +1

      Hi Lauren! That’s an excellent question! I’m not sure why more stun guns don’t have wrist straps. I’m going to guess that it’s because the larger ones typically come with holsters or clips and the smaller ones typically either fit in your pocket or hook on a keychain. I don’t really see a disadvantage to having one with a strap. We do have the Handheld Stun Gun on KarateMart.com that does have a wrist bracelet, but I’ll keep my eyes open for other models that we can carry that also have them. Thanks so much for watching!
