- Hello, my beautiful blossom! Today, I have an AMAZING, crochet pattern to share with you. Is it a ruana, or is it a poncho? It can be BOTH depending on how you customize it! This eye-catching piece is an incredible, summer coverup. So are you ready to cast on and get started?
In this video, I'll make a mini version and show you how to crochet the repeating stitch pattern, as well as how to seam your pieces together.

Makani is an Adventurous Beginner level crochet ruana/poncho pattern, and the samples shown here were made with five colors (one skein each) of our Yak Merino Sport yarn. The ruana and the poncho are both made the same, so their yardages are the same. They are just sewn together differently. Both samples used approximately 1520 yds/1390 m total: Colors A-C and E used: 303 yds/277 m each and Color D: 308 yds/282 m.
Yak Merino Sport is a cuddly, cozy, soft, and snuggly, 3-ply blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool and 30% Yak. Warm and resilient with next-to-skin softness and excellent stitch definition. It's a versatile choice for a variety of projects, including garments, shawls and wraps, scarves, hats, gloves, and other accessories, as well as blankets! 329 yds/300 m per skein.

What an interesting pattern. I live about as far from the ocean as it is possible for a body to be, but absolutely love its splendor and power. My grandparents lived in Alaska and I always loved my trips there. But, Hawaii? Hawaii is magical. We spent our 25th anniversary there...mmm. So wonderful!
