    Beautiful, thank you! I really appreciate how clearly you show and explain each step. Could you do a future video on chosing and mixing the colours/shades?

    Regarding the comment about our nowadays Saints, I believe that if there is a realistic icon or even a photograph of the Saint, I'd love to see it in the church, too. It feels like a privilege to know there is a Saint who has leaved around my time and also know the way he looks like. Yes, personally, I love it ...that's my opinion

    I think we can use the modern pictures of Paisios and other modern Saints as a guide, but I like to see them remain in the Byzantine tradition.

    Christ is risen!
    Thank you Antonis for sharing your technique . I have been painting icons in the Russian tradition for 25 years and I have always admired the technique of the great Cretan iconographers , every time in Athens I visit the Byzantine Musee and the Benaki Museum ... I have to visit this year (I hope) in september friends in Crete, is it possible to see your work? to meet you?
    Best regards!

    Hi Antonis, Merry Christmas! Thank you for your videos. Would it be possible to mention what sort of brushes you used for this icon, for each stage of the icon. Thank you very much.

    How do You achieve the blueish tone in the first underpainting under the lights in the hair? by adding some ultramarine?

    • @PaintingtheLight
      @PaintingtheLight  4 года назад

      I add some black and some blue to my greenish proplasmos color and make sure the result is not too dark but liquid/transparent enough. Paint well!

    Is it okay for a protestant to paint icons?
    Asking cuz i want to start making some(one of Jesus Christ and the other of saint Christopher)

    • @PaintingtheLight
      @PaintingtheLight  3 года назад +2

      Hi!! That's a very interesting question. I believe you would have to ask a theologian though. If I had to answer that, I would say (although protestants I believe don't have any icons in a church, or iconography in the tradition) go for it. Painting Christ is praying and I think that's good for everyone.

    ..does it matter, really, isn't it a development of the art itself.
