Jolene, thank you so, so much in clarifying the issue with these cabin mobility scooters! I have this to say, the reason why some people have a peeve about these scooters is because of the fact, they aren't experiencing disability issues and / or they haven't reached a point in their lives when they start having a life change. Wait til they get older. People need their independence!

Thanks for what you said! I’ve owned a Cruise since 2018. I am disabled with no licence. The independence it has given me has greatly increased my quality of life!! I have had only a couple of negative run ins while driving on the side of the road, from drivers of other cars who honk, flip me off etc. But largely, I receive lots of positive attention (or the Cruise does!) with lots of interested folks asking about it. I don’t drive on the sidewalk, I find it too large for that. I am usually on residential streets and the occasional busier road - and I stick to the right lane. I’ll go into the left lane only if I need to turn. I can do groceries, get to most of my appointments using it this way. Not to mention zipping around to see family and friends. Do I smile as I drive it, hell yes! Don’t let these naysayers get to you, you’re wonderful!

People who don't want these on the road, also don't want pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, horses on the road. They will have to actually pay attention to their driving. I am disabled. I have problems with my kidneys, spine, hips. I also have skin cancer. Being able to take myself places is going to be a life changing blessing. I will also not have to worry about freezing, rain, wind,or overheating in the summers here in CA. I will even be able to stay longer at restaurants or friends homes at night due to the front and back lights. I can take my kid to school and take myself to my doctor's appointments or grocery stores. No more waiting for someone to have the time, no more sitting outside stores or doctor's waiting for a bus or government transportation, no more someone having to take off work to come bring my prescriptions, food.
I can't wait for mine to get here. ❤

I bought my Cruise in August of 2023. I live in a small town (no public transportation available) so I made sure to check with our local bylaw just to be sure there would be no issues. I was told I am classified as a pedestrian and therefore should be on the sidewalk with the understanding that it is my obligation to pull off if there is someone walking which I will do (often those walking will step off but I always try to pull off first). If I must pull off I drive on the right hand side as close to the edge of the road as I can. I am conscious of the traffic around me and make sure I am out of the way as much as I can. I have had a few people comment negatively but more often it is positive and wanting information for their family member that may need something like this soon. It has given me so much freedom. I can go to the doctor, grocery shopping and take an animal to the vet without depending on someone else's time table. I think you will be seeing more of them in the future as the population ages and the price of keeping a car is getting ridiculous. I am thankful every day I get in my little Scoot and can get around freely. I'm also thankful that I found "Ride The Wind E-Bikes" to purchase my enclosed mobility scooter.

Let me start by saying that I totally agree with you it is a matter of hate and envy from some people the transit system for example here in Ottawa is very bad buses are usually late and that is the reason why they loose ridership so, those as well as electric motorcycles, e-bikes, regular bikes and any way you find to go to work or from point A to B as along as one respects the rules of the road should be allowed to be out there this is my opinion

I've been writing my electric Velomobile shown on the left on Ontario roads since 2010. Not on the 400 series highways and not taking up a full lane, just on along the right side, with the flow of traffic.
I ride it at 32KPH which is the legal speed limit for an ebike in Ontario.
My vehicle is 34 inches wide.
I've been stopped by police twice. Once because somebody called, they didn't know what they were looking at so they decided that they better call the police. The officer was friendly, curious and we had a little bit of a chuckle.
The second time was a new OPP checking that my lights were working and I was wearing a helmet, which is required for an ebike.
People traveling are generally respectful. They have no problem seeing me and because I'm riding along the side of the road they know that I'm not traveling as fast as they are.
The number one issue I have are those who try to squeeze by me in single lanes when oncoming traffic dictates that they shouldn't be trying to pass. It's dangerous, it's illegal and the police really need to watch for that sort of thing.
Other than that, being fully electric, traveling slower and having the freedom not to worry about things like registration and insurance makes my life a lot better.
I think that electric transport has finally come into its own and as more people try it they'll come to understand that inexpensive, stress-free transportation is the way to a cleaner and safer future.

Mobility scooters are permitted to be used in bicycle lanes, bicycle paths, and sidewalks. They are backed, in the U.S., by the AADA. Yes, they should be marked and flagged as slow moving vehicles and other bicycles. I will, however, say that they should all be available in high visibility colors as opposed to dark ones to add to their safety. I do love hearing your argument on the subject.
I would really love to get an enclosed mobility scooter like these, but I would need air conditioning; our Summers get oppressively hot and humid 🥵; 115-120+ with the heat index.

Can you do a video on the Emmo and other enclosed scooters on whether or not they can be towed. What to do if it breaks down, as it would not fit in a van or car? Also what is the cost of replacement batteries? And any add ons like snow tires, and if it can tow a small bike trailer. Just wondering...

People will eventually get used to them. I think the enclosed ones are too big for the sidewalk, and look too much like a car. But if there is no one else on the sidewalk, maybe. They are banned on bike lanes in BC but not on sidewalks. The RCMP website said they are to be treated as pedestrian traffic. I think there will be more snd more of them. They are so cool.

Living here in the US in Philadelphia I've only ever seen one of them and it was on the sidewalk.
In my fault was it's too big to be on that sidewalk, but once I watch them I realize that they couldn't walk "once they got out with the Walker I understood" it was a little big on the side of the bike rack where you lock your bikes.
Is there a lot of people who is not completely disabled unlimited, and the buses and trains are not safe here for them. And that being said they are a little big for the bike lane..... But that is due to the bike lane being "very narrow" I got everyone here in Philadelphia drive in that bike lane to turn 100 ft before they get to the turn it's not more?? I myself have been thinking about getting one because I can't see well enough to to pass the eye test for a license, Prince as well as their time do I have to push my mother well 1.5 me somewhere in the same amount back..... I'll be drenched in sweat and just no more good for the day.
So I completely understand if I ever see one again.
And I don't know why people getting such an uproar with them on the road, considering that people have accidents from car to car, and bike to bike.
All the time due to people not paying attention, will not respecting each other's right to travel.

To me these are too small, slow and have less visibility than larger vehicles, so better on paved trails, sidewalks and the shoulder of roads. They're great compared to bikes and regular scooters for improved vis8vility, but there are limitations, so being mindful of other vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians improves everyone's safety.

I live in Texas, and uber and lyft are getting too expensive over here, and I am not allowed to take the bus and either is my mom who is elderly, because some how Dallas depart of transit thinks that we are going to be a liability to them. Anyways I think we could use one of those mobility scooters. The only problem is they are beyond our budget.

How is they going to run out bicycle lanes? About 60% of people ride bicycles everyday? Just like people that drives cars cause accidents? They should be good drivers but not. I drive a mobility scooter and sadly I and others drives more safe then these people on the road, which it is sad to me.
