Dialing in the suspension makes a big difference. I redid my front forks and sprung them for my weight and she turns a lot better and doesn't want to wash out anymore. I need to work on my rear shock as well, I think factory it comes really stiff front and back. Great bike!
So true the 1985-1987s were the best they had the most money to spend and they were winning races left and right I've still gotta swap a set of 1986 Cr250 front forks on a old 1995 XR250 cause supposedly those are a HUGE upgrade
I picked up a 1997 cr250r and put an 89 cr500r into it and it’s awesome. I have heard about the design of the suspension being “wrong”. Obviously times have changed and everything is now revised really well. But it’s still good for what it is!!
I remember that groove in the swingarm on my '98 model. I enjoyed the bike and couldn't fault it. I also had an '02, but my favourite CR model ever, has to be the '05. I regret selling it, but going to look at an '06 tomorrow that's been sat for 7 years. Will be a nice little project
Hard to say. I've seen others with it and low hour machines. The scary thing I didn't learn until after this video. is that the plastic shrouds cut a groove into the frame over time.
had a '99 125, loved the engine, hated the frame and handling a lot, sending the suspension to a good workshop could probably have helped but didn't have the money, my advice is try one before buying

1st gens always get the most harsh criticism...but are always the most loved.
My favorite Honda's were the 1986's and then the white framed 96's....:) Those first gens were a little harsh but were still handlers.

I would love to have a cr500. I thought about buying one but I'm fine with my cr250 power
OTAlucard I put a steahly 15 ounce flywheel weight on, without it, it’s impossible to hit power without the wheel coming up.
I love the first gens I have 2 of them Honda's best motor as well

you think that groove is made at the factory for the line to sit in
