  • Throughout history, dogs have accompanied man at work and play. Even during wartime, dogs functioned as mascots and trained in a variety of jobs to protect and save lives on battlefields throughout the world.
In this series, we focus on the roles dogs performed during times of war in support of our ground troops. From WWI when dogs served as mascots in the trenches of France to WWII when they were highly trained to perform jobs a soldier could not do that protected our troops from harm and helped to defeat the enemy. You will hear the stories from veteran war dog handlers of the Korean War and the Vietnam War about the roles their heroic dogs played to save their lives and the lives of others under extreme combat conditions.
With the global war on terror, military working dogs continue to be an invaluable lifesaving asset serving with our special operations community.
Since WWII, Military Working Dogs have consistently played a vital role in times of peace and war, oftentimes paying the ultimate price for their service and sacrifice.
This is The War Dog’s Story - giving a voice to the voiceless.

My moms cousin was in Vietnam and was a helicopter pilot . Would pick up wounded soldiers. He had an awesome Germany shepherd named Dutch. Dutch knew commands in German. He was out on a mission and a VC threw a handgrenade in to the helicopter. Dutch sniffed it out and tossed out of the helicopter. He and Dutch came home together and he was able to keep Dutch till his passing. These dogs do a vauled service and are heroes.
    Bless you Dutch

Was AirTraffic Controller at K-8 in 1963-64. A K-9 guarded the tower during night time hours. During the cold winter invited the handler and his K-9 in the tower to get warm and have coffee. K-9 could not climb ladder into cab but was comfortable in the level below the cab while his handler sat with us. One night, at shift change, I walked out the door at the base of the tower to have the K-9 lung in front of me, his handler holding an extended leach. I stopped dead in my tracks totally surprised. The dog had grabbed a large rat that was in front of me and killed it. Amazing how he saw it in the dark.

I got on RUclips to look up some more info and documentaries like it and I came across this. I am very excited to see this and hear the interviews, I’ll be watching for the release! For many months, we have worked on trying to get a major network to pick up the War Dog’s Story documentary. While the initial feedback on our trailer was great, none of the networks wanted to tackle the subject. From the feedback that we received, the feelings were the same - there was no interest in war stories or the dogs in them. We decided to move forward without the help of the major networks in order to get the War Dog’s Story completed. And so we are now excited to announce our official crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo to honor these stories, and the dogs and people in them.
Much of the film, and 39 interviews, have been shot already. With the funds we secure, we will be completing the last of the interviews that are needed. How many episodes will go into the series ultimately depends on how much we’re able to raise with the crowdfunding campaign. Once the edit is complete, we’ll be submitting the documentary series to a distributor who we have worked with previously. Other shows that we have produced have streamed on platforms like Amazon Prime, Tubi, and many other services in the past so we’re extremely confident that The War Dog’s Story will end up on numerous streaming platforms as well.
Please help us spread the word to everyone you know about our crowdfunding campaign. Every like, share and contribution will help us cross the finish line. People can donate to the project via the IndieGoGo page or directly on the War Dog’s Story web site, and we also have PayPal and Venmo options for contributing as well. From the start, these stories that are being told are what matter the most to us and we can really use your help in letting everyone know about the campaign and the film itself. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
    Thank you,
    Bri Coelho

OH, wait I had an idea. Sorry, almost forgot... Can you somehow partner this with prosthetics? I have some cool ideas for that. The prosthetics field has had some recent breakthroughs for doggy ones which I think could be useful for military dogs too. The last website I visited was talking about amputated limbs and injured limbs. It's private sector, but that's fine right? It doesn't necesarily need to be a military contractor.... or does it? would it need to be a military contractor in order for military dogs to have access? @@HighProofMedia
