- Our course in spirituality will lead us through some of the main spiritual Christian traditions. An overview of the characteristics of each theme will be followed by practical exercises.
A very well done documentary/ lecture, guys. Thank you. I was born into the Methodist tradition but became an Eastern Orthodox Christian in my early adult years, both of which venerate the Celtic tradition.
The patterns on Aran sweaters were to identify members of a community lost at sea. Bodies that washed up on shore could be returned to their families by these patterns.

The Ancient Celtic Christian Church was at first Semi-Autonomous from the Papal Primacy before the Ecumenical Synod Council of Whitby, Northumbria, England, and the Ecumenical Synod Council of Cashell, Ireland. Because the Ancient Christian Celts were more Tribal with their form of Ancient Apostolic and Sacramental Christianity, (especially their Monastics in how they sang their Hymnodies, Psalmnodies, and Vesper Prayers. Also, the Monastics, (the Monks and Nuns), had their own unique style of Hair Tonshuring.
This actually goes even deeper than that it's actually a super fascinating dive!

"Samhain" is pronounced "Sow-in"/"sah-win".
"mh" in Irish is usually a digraph pronounced like a "w" or "v" depending on the dialect and/or context.
This is one of best courses I've heard on Celtic Spirituality.

@@kickinghorse2405 Celtic culture used to be Aryan and Polytheistic. We call it pagan only becacuse its not Chrisitan and came before christianity. We do call norse culture, proto - Chrisitan which means leads to.
All our days of the week are currently named after Norse deities from celtic culture, pre-Christianity
I just read an article on Celtic Spirituality. It looks like their Christian Culture appeals to a peaceful way of life. I know little about World History so I quite enjoy movies and checking on the authenticity. One example is Alfred the Great in The Last Kingdom. I agree that this series on video feels like a course for me. Thank you.

Timely, indeed. There is more interest in spirituality these days as modernism has grown in leaps and bounds. I think people are looking for a happy medium if there is such a thing.
Being in reaction (protestant) to Rome, is a block. The Celtic Christian history/ethos/path has been for me a stepping stone back to Israel.

Thank you for asking. The best version of Christianity for me was/is celtic, as it seems the most connected to the core narrative of The Good Book. Exile is not our true home - When we pray "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done" we are asking to be taken Home. Not up into the ether. Back across to where we were reject from. Before Celtic Christianity was forced into submission to Rome it flourish and was fruitful all over Europe and beyond. Once Rome murdered some of our 'bishops' (not today's flavour) and the synod of Whitby got its ruling we faded. Much was lost. The connection to Israel identity was also obscured. Rediscovering our heritage released me from the posture of reaction to Rome and enabled me to take the next steps back to Israel identity without that to distract me. I'll think about resources - I'll have a think. I joined a community years ago that certainly helped me on the way. @@KevinBarryTV

I really enjoyed this very informative video. Thank you so much. However, I'm confused about the use of the term 'Celtic.' It seems to be a term of the 19th century, used as a 'catch all' for the early peoples of Britain and Brittany. We now know much more about these early people and their identity.

The Welsh are the Bretons. Wales means foreignor. We are the real royal family.
I do not believe that the Bible is the inherent, all inspired word of God. I do believe that the Bible has wonderful Historical spirit filled insight, into our God and the life and Death of Jesus.
I really wish that All religions would stop with exclusivity. Christians , must spread the gospel!
Muslims deem you Muslim from birth and all others are infidels !
Judaism has the same thoughts of we are the chosen one!
So, each claims to love God. Yet, if one decides not to conform to the particular “religion”, they are stigmatized, and sometimes even killed!

In the sense that it is both spirit given and spirit preserved, you can believe that it is inerrant. Try believing in something outside of it. Most, if not all, religions and beliefs impose difficulties upon your spiritual growth. The Christians, themselves, have sterilized spirituality till it is has become nonexistent in the Church: what you see on TV is nothing like the Gospel Message-back when it was still wet with the blood of Jesus.
The Hindus and such, can't straighten out our path so they have us coming back time and time again, sometimes better sometimes worse; Karmic debt, huh? The Muslims can't even question God, because it is all "Allah's will be done" this and "Allah's will that done" that, and they even argue like the Pharisees and the Sadducee, of old. This time it is over whether you can actually have a relationship with Allah or not. Every religion restricts!!
Listen, if you go to the Bible and act in accordance with what you have learned, you will find out that the Bible really is true, without anybody having to tell you. Faith will take you to places where you'll have to choose, whether or not it is accordance with the Spirit of the Bible. When it comes to God, the Holy Bible is the best place to start. Trust me. God loves you; you can trust Him. There really isn't a lot of time left. You can trust, that is if it is salvation you seek, in Jesus Christ. He was sent for you, and it is up to you, alone, to believe. It is by this measure that we are all weighed. Fill your heart with the love of Him and tip the scales in your balance. Go with God.

@@mrsaturdaynightspecial3055 Christianity and the Bible are different things. It was only when man, decided to write a book about Jesus starting 40 years after his death. I love Jesus, Holy Spirit and God! I don't love people who think love can only be expressed their way.

The Catholic Church has more credibility, historically, theologically, philosophically, even scientifically, epistemologicaly, hagiographicaly, etc in 2000 years of its existence then most people or institutions on earth can even dare to shake their fists at..so again, what makes you the arbiter of truth and makes your claims credible? Why should I even entertain them? Let's have a real discussion/debate, and you can line up your arguments against the Church's arguments, and then we can decide which one give more credence. God bless, the saint's protect you..I will pray for your soul
