Not sure when it will be televised, but in November, VoicePlay is going to New Jersey to sing with Chicago three of their songs and the band will play the instruments. There will be other artists as well singing other Chicago songs, but I mostly am only interested in VoicePlay's set. I love Chicago so this will be amazing.

@@ginger_snapz_369 thank you for another priceless reaction to Voice Play. I love how you capture so much more than most reactors. You are one of my favorites. As you know Phill Collins original lyrics is very repetitive & I think for that reason it makes it boring to listen to. Voice Play does an awesome job of making it come alive & not boring to listen to. Voice Play really knows how to bring new life to a song while staying true to an original. Please do a reaction video to Voice Plays new cover of Hell Fire from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Geoff is the evil Minister Frolo & he is so good at it. He really didn't want to do it because he thought it was too evil a role but Layne made him do it. While Geoff is the lead they all switch off so each has a solo part. Cesar Play an awesome air guitar. His voice is so underrated by so many. But his expressions with attitudes are always on point & loved by everyone.

Great comments. One of Voiceplay's best features is how they hand off the song to each artist and give everyone a chance to shine. You get a chance to appreciate everyone. They also really pull off the old Miami Vice vibe, as well as the glitchy 80's video (remember smacking your tape player?). Read recently that J.None was performing at the Apollo Theater when he was 14, his voice is golden.

You would love to watch Geoff's "I see fire" video. He has his own channel and does many covers solo. This video really showcases his 5-octave range.

You should hear their version of Kansas' "Carry On My Wayward Son " and Metallica's " Nothing Else Matters ". Great reaction!

    VoicePlay, L to R:
Layne Stein - formerly their baritone, now beatboxer/vocal percussionist/producer of unearthly sounds, arranges about 1/2 of the songs (including this one), original member
Cesar de la Rosa - baritenor, newest permanent member
    J. None - baritone, former member, recruited by the US Navy for one of their bands (now singing bass for them)
Eli (rhymes with jelly) Jacobsen - tenor, lighting technician
Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - bass/master of sub-harmonic tones, generally arranges the other half of the songs that Layne doesn't, original member
Geoff also does videos on his solo channel he started during the lockdown - take a listen to something there if you like bass singers!

They are all outstanding musicians. J None was a member but joined the Navy. He just got promoted and is relocating to the east coast (much closer to Florida and the guys). So I'm looking forward to more visits from J going forward.

I would highly recommend their cover of 'Nothing Else Matters' by Metallica. Also featuring J.None. Another is 'Hoist the Colours' featuring Jose Rosario Jr, who toured with the Chicago group of 'Hamilton'.

Hi Ginger! I just found you, enjoyed your reactions to VoicePlay and Home Free, and subscribed in hopes you'll do more a cappella reactions (I sing in an amateur a cappella group myself).
VoicePlay is known for their theatrical videos (which are awesome), but I picked up on a comment you made in your reaction to Home Free's cover of "Mayday," in which you said that sometimes it's nice to watch a more minimalist video so you can focus on the vocals.
So, if you think you might want to react to some of of VoicePlay's more minimalist videos so you can focus on the vocals (and their fantastic arrangements), I recommend their covers of "Nothing Else Matters," "Carry On, My Wayward Son," and "I Can't Make You Love Me" (you might want to have some tissues handy for the last one).
Looking forward to more of your reactions!

Saw your reaction to Valhalla Calling, and I was glad to see another reaction. I love finding people new to Voiceplay! Not sure if you've been properly introduced to our favorite guys yet...obviously you are familiar with J. None and Geoff Castellucci. Left to right, you have Layne Stein (beatboxing vocal percussion voodoo master who also has a beautiful singing voice we don't get to hear enough) Cesar De La Rosa (Super sassy baritone-tenor that can break your heart with his voice) J. None (former full member who left to sing with the Navy but still collaborates when he is on leave) Eli (pronounced Elly) Jacobsen (the little bald rockstar tenor with the stratospheric high notes) and Geoff Castelluci, human subwoofer..who also has his own solo channel. Layne and Geoff each do about half the arranging for the group, but Eli has arranged a couple as well...most recently "Creep" from Radiohead. Eli does most of the lighting, and Geoff's wife, Kathy works behind the scenes and occasionally pops up in a video) As you go through their song list, you will see the lineup has changed over the years, members coming and going, but always incredible! Enjoy your journey down the rabbit hole!

This one is either my #1 or #2 by VoicePlay depending on whether I'm listening to Nothing Else Matters or In the Air Tonight. They are just a hair's breadth away from each other in my book. I had never listened to Metallica prior to VoicePlay doing this one the same week as my birthday. My secret voice just said it would loud, noisy, screaming and I didn't want any part of Metallica. But...VoicePlay has never done a bad version of anything and I've been through most of their library of 800+. I occasionally find one I missed (Feb 14, I found Grow Old with Me). Geoff, the bass also has a channel where he does non-acapella songs. His last 2 were Folsom Prison Blues and I See Fire. Terrific stuff. A couple of beautiful VP videos: I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), Tennessee Whiskey (Chris Stapleton), Creep (Radiohead),, Halloween stuff: The Oogie Boogie Song, Monster Mash, the Headless Horseman, This is Halloween, In the Hall of the Mountain King, Hide and Seek, Superstition. Broadway/Movies: Wicked, Greatest Showman, Moana, Little Mermaid, We Don't Talk About Bruno, If I Were a Rich Man/Girl, Running Up That Hill.

I enjoyed your first reaction to Voiceplay and loved this one as well. They always pay homage to the original, but always put the Voiceplay spin on it.
They did a cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, which is amazing!
Usually the arrangements are done by either Geoff or Layne, trading off each month. Both of the ones you've reacted to have been Layne's, Nothing Else Matters is Geoff's. Then you need to hear their version of Creep, it was arranged by Eli (ellie) the bald tenor.
I subscribed with your first reaction and I will always be here for Voiceplay and Geoff!

Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Voiceplay! Love your two reactions to them so far and can't wait for you to see more! I think you should really check out their Queen in 5 Minutes medley, its one of their older ones so there is a member you won't recognize (Earl, he left the group a few years ago) but it showcases their inestimable talents, both for the vocals and arrangements as well as for their serious dedication to production. It's a must-see and the story the video tells is beautiful

I don't if anyone let you know Geoff has his own RUclips too. Layne does get sing much as he does Vocal Percussionist but he has a sweet voice to hear better in the song We Don't Talk About Bruno. There is 2 songs they do use a violin in it. The last one they did was Drunken Sailor but I love the song they do Just Sing
